While I came back from swimming day before, I felt severe pain in my ear. I took" zerodol-sp" 1 bds but today when I got up at 5.00 am it was paining upto neck. What should I do to stop infection? early reply shall help me a lot. Thanks.

MBBS, MS (ENT & HEAD AND NECK SURGERY), FSIB, Diploma in Allergy and Asthma
ENT Specialist, Delhi
You might be having swimmer's ear/otitis externa which is common after swimming due to infection and inflammation of external ear. Consult a nearby ent specialist for evaluation and treatment, he may start some oral antibiotics and analgesics and may put a icthymol glycerine ear pack for quick pain relief.

Why we feel like brain is moving during at the stage of sinusitis? Is there any permanent solution for this problem with medicines? Please reply to my question?

DORL, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Faridabad
Nothing is permanent dear, how can medicine give yu permanent solution, take good diet, fruits, salads and iron rich diet. Sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusits. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopic-ally.

Suffering from tinnitus from the past 7 years Wats d solution for tht Kindly reply.

M S, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Gurgaon
Tinnitus at times could be real difficult to treat. Kindly get yourself examined for hearing loss by getting pure tone audiometry. You may use sound generators to mask and suppress tinnitus. If there is associated anxiety, reducing the anxiety also helps.

Mr, lybrate-user if you have been operated earlier than I have some thing for you and read this carefully, sinus is a normal roomy structure around nasal cavity its infection called sinusitis, if a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity.
