Hello I am 26 years old male. I have gap between teeth. So is it possible to joint those gaps. What type of treatment need to do. I think braces is a option. If braces is only option then how much time it will take?

PG Fellowship In Microdentistry, BDS
Dentist, Thane
Braces is one option which has various types in it. It usually takes 1 and 1\2 yrs to 2 yrs. There is non braces form of the treatment with similar time of treatment called clear path or invisalign. Other treatment will be of veneers or crowns depending upon various factors. Warm regards

Hi lybrate-user. Sorry to know your suffering sensitive teeth tooth has a layer on the top called enamel which is a protective layer preventing leakage into the layers beneath this. The next layer below this enamel is called dentine, which is a very sensitive layer. So when you say your tooth is sensitive which means that your enamel is probably missing in few areas or thin in few areas exposing the second layer which is a sensitive layer. There are few toothpastes available in the market which combat sensitive teeth. It works for few individuals. However meet your dentist to actually diagnose the problem and then go ahead with treatment. Your dentist might suggest you simple enamel fillings or any other type of treatment which is appropriate depending on the severity of your sensitivity. Tooth sensitivity can also be due to your gums shrinking and making your tooth look longer. Which would need gum treatment to be done. However get your medical records updated and mention to the dentist if you have any gastric regurgitation, which cud be the cause at times. Minimize the intake of carbonated drinks, citrus fruits, squeezing lemon to food, consumption of wine as these are the very few major culprits to dissolve the top layer of the tooth and exposing the second layer thus making your teeth sensitive. Stay away from tobacco related habits which also makes your teeth sensitive try to use soft tooth brushes to prevent unnesasary wearing of the tooth surface. Your dentist would be the right person to customize the plan which suits you the best as every individual is unique. I hope I clarified your query

Natal Teeth

What are natal teeth?

Natal teeth are teeth that are present when a baby is born. The teeth are often not fully developed and may have a weak root.

Natal teeth are not common. They are not the same as neonatal teeth that erupt in the child’s mouth during the first month of life.

What causes natal teeth?

The cause of natal teeth is unknown. But they may be more likely to occur in children with certain health problems that affect growth. This includes Sotos syndrome.

What are the symptoms of natal teeth?

Natal teeth may sometimes look like normal teeth. But they are often:

  • Small
  • Loose
  • Brown or yellow

How are natal teeth diagnosed?

Your child’s healthcare provider or dentist can often diagnose natal teeth with a physical exam of your child’s mouth. He or she may also order X-rays. An X-ray makes images of internal tissues, bones, teeth, and organs. An X-ray may show a tooth root that is not fully formed.

How are natal teeth treated?

Treatment will depend on your child’s symptoms, age, and general health. It will also depend on how severe the condition is.

Your child’s dentist or healthcare provider may decide no treatment is needed. In other cases, natal teeth may be loose because the root is not fully developed. The teeth may then be removed. This done to lower the risk of your child inhaling the tooth into his or her airways. Or the teeth may be removed if they are damaging your baby’s tongue. Another choice may be to smooth the top edges of the teeth. This prevents damage to your child's tongue.

What are possible complications of natal teeth?

Complications that may happen as a result of natal teeth are:

  • Problems with breastfeeding. This is because your baby may accidentally bite you while breastfeeding.
  • Injury to your child’s tongue
  • Possible risk of your child inhaling the tooth into his or her airway and lungs if the tooth breaks free

Key points about natal teeth

  • Natal teeth are teeth that are present when a baby is born.
  • These teeth are often not fully developed and may have a weak root.
  • They may be small, loose, and discolored.
  • The cause of natal teeth is unknown.
  • Your child’s healthcare provider or dentist may recommend having them removed if they may cause a problem.

It is advisable to remove your born teeth since it causes crowding of your second upcoming teeth. If the teeth are malaligned you may require braces to correct the teeth position in future.

If toothache is due to decay on tooth then she should go for root canal treatment. Prolonged use of medicine is not good for health. Visit to a dentist for examination and proper treatment.
