Hi, doctor I live in delhi & I am 34yr old female person. I have a tremor problem for last 4 months. What should I do?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Neurologist,
Parkinson' s disease-kampavata (a neurological disorder) parkinson' s disease is a neurological disease, or brain disorder, that leads to progressive difficulty with balance and coordination. In people who have parkinson' s disease, nerve cells in a region of the brain known as the substantia nigra become damaged or die. These cells are important because they produce the chemical dopamine, which helps to coordinate body movement-basal ganglia. When dopamine-producing cells degenerate/die, the areas in the brain that control movement can no longer function properly, and symptoms of parkinson' s disease eventually develop. Parkinson? s disease prevalence:- parkinson' s disease can affect anyone, but it most often occurs in people who are over the age of 50. Only 15 percent of parkinson' s disease patients are diagnosed before they are 50 years old. The prevalence of parkinson' s disease is nearly the same in both men and women, and recovery rate is more in men. People with a family history of parkinson' s may have a higher risk of developing the disease, but parkinson' s disease is rarely attributed to genetics alone. Parkinson' s disease symptoms symptoms of parkinson' s disease usually develop after about 80 percent of the brain' s dopamine-producing cells are lost. The main symptoms of parkinson' s disease include? tremors(kampam)- tremulousness (uncontrolled shaking or trembling) of the hands, arms, legs, face, body is often one of the first indicators of parkinson' s disease? rigidity. Profound stiffness or an inability to easily move the arms, legs, and trunk, pain and stiffness on neck muscles is another hallmark of parkinson' s? bradykinesia:- describes the unnaturally slow movements that are characteristic of people with parkinson' s disease? poor balance- parkinson' s disease affects balance, leading to difficulty walking and impaired coordination. The symptoms of parkinson' s are generally mild at first, but become more severe over time, until they eventually interfere with your daily routine. This is usually the point when treatment is recommended. The outlook for people with parkinson' s disease parkinson' s disease is a chronic, progressive condition, which means it is a lifelong disease that worsens over time when it is not treated properly. Each individual' s situation is different, but in general, the first symptoms of parkinson' s disease usually don' t require treatment and may be restricted to one area or one side of the body. Movement of symptoms to the other side of the body? tremors that become more pronounced and interfere with activities? bradykinesia, or slow movement, that becomes disabling? difficulty with hand writing? impaired swallowing and chewing? speech that becomes monotone? poor balance and repeated falls? slow, shuffling gait (manner of walking)? stooped posture? facial expressions that become stiff and blank? chronic constipation? poor bladder control? sleep disturbances this progression is gradual in most people, but it may happen faster in some than others. Understandably, stress caused by the progression of the disease can lead to anxiety and depression. Ayurveda treatment: there is cure for parkinson' s disease with ayurveda treatment, with ayurveda medicines and treatments we can relieve symptoms, slow down the progression and then we can completely arrest further degeneration of the of the cells, thereby we can completely control and cure the disease. If you are diagnosed with parkinson' s disease, it is important to work closely with your medical team, so your medications can be regularly adjusted to help you remain as functional as possible for as long as possible. As far as parkinson' s disease is concerned this is a brain related issue, so will surely effect the mind; so I recommend 49% treatment to patients and 51% treatment to family members.

What you described are just symptoms of dehydration. Intensive exercises or sports causes dehydration and momentary decrease in blood pressure or decrease in blood sugars- due to which you experienced all that you described. The most important thing is to keep yourself well hydrated and consume some glucose during these periods. Just sit down and rest for a few minutes while your body gets a chance to reset. Don't worry at all- this is not a mini-stroke. Everyone who has done work-outs has experiences this once in a while. Keep up your fitness regime young man!

MBBS, MD - Anaesthesiology, FIPM, Fellowship in palliative medicine, certificate in interventional pain management

Hi my name is Anitha, from past few months I am suffering from headache, I am thinking that may be that is migraine, ...
Migraine headache is characterised by 1. unilateral pulsating headache 2. associated with nause/vomiting and 3.photophobia / phonophobia. 4.migraine headache increases with daily activities. 5. Without any medication migraine will last for 4 to 72 hours. 6.There are triggers for migraine like sun exposure, certain foods or smell, lack of sleep, excess caffeine etc. The triggers are variable for different patients. Normal headache is generally band like pressure at forehead and temple. It relieves within few hours without medicines. It doesn't increase with daily activities. To treat your headache consult a pain specialist in your city . Diagnosis of type of headache can be easily made by detailed information of your headache pattern. In severe cases MRI scan of brain may be needed. In case of further query consult again.

Spinach protects nerves

In order for your brain and nervous system to function as they should, your body needs a high input of fat-soluble vitamins that contribute to the building up of the fatty layers that protect your nerves from damage. And one such vitamin is vitamin K, which you can get in high amounts by eating spinach.

Spinach also helps regulate the production of hormones in the nervous system to improve mood, sleeping patterns, and the body's response to physical activity and stress.

Spinach may not give you superhuman strength to fight off villains like Popeye's nemesis Bluto, but this iron rich leafy green can help you fight a different type of enemy -- iron-deficiency anaemia

Brain Tumor Surgery - Know The Common Types!

Although surgery is considered to be the first step of treatment in any form of tumor but its feasibility depends upon the type, size and location of the tumor. It is not necessary that every kind of brain tumor might require surgery.

Indications of Brain Tumor Surgery

  • Diagnosis of the type of tumor by taking a sample of the tumor for laboratory examination
  • Complete resection of tumor
  • Removal of the tumor as much as possible to slow down its growth and improve the symptoms.
  • Remove the tumor in order to help other treatment
  • Provide direct access for other forms of treatment like chemotherapy, radiotherapy etc.
  • To relieve pressure caused by tumor on surrounding structures

Types of Brain Tumor Surgery

The different types of surgery that are performed in cases of brain tumor include the following:

1. Craniotomy: Craniotomy is the most commonly performed procedure to remove brain tumor along with a piece of bone. The removed bone is replaced and the tumor is sent for histopathology (biopsy). The surgery is performed using a high end microscope by any of the following techniques:

  • Extended bifrontal craniotomy
  • "Eyebrow" craniotomy (supra-orbital craniotomy)
  • "Keyhole" craniotomy (retro-sigmoid craniotomy)
  • Orbitozygomatic craniotomy
  • Translabyrinthine craniotomy

2. Shunt: A narrow piece of flexible tube with a pressure regulated valve in between is called a shunt. This is used to relieve the intracranial pressure caused by obstruction of the natural brain fluid (CSF) pathway by tumor mass. The procedure involves insertion of a drainage system into the brain to remove or drain excess of blocked fluid into the peritoneal cavity.

3. Stereotactic surgery: This surgery is done by creating a three-dimensional image called stereotaxy using computers. It aims to find out the location and position of the tumor. In fact it can also be done to aid tumor removal, implant radiation pellets or for other treatments.

4. Embolization: It is a procedure used to reduce the amount of blood supply to a tumor by blocking the blood flow in the selected arteries. It is generally performed before the main surgery.

Endoscopy and endoscope assisted surgery: Endoscope is the tool which helps to closely visualize the tissue through small openings in difficult to reach areas. This tool can be used in various brain surgeries to precisely reach the target location without damaging the adjacent structures.

Adjuvant modalities to improve outcome: In addition to above mentioned surgeries, following surgeries may also be performed in relation to brain tumor treatment:

  • Laser surgery
  • Photodynamic laser surgery
  • Ultrasonic aspiration
  • Fluorescent-guided surgery
  • Electrophysiological monitoring. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Neurosurgeon.
