Hello, thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am dr akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You will have to elaborate your problem as to a detailed discussion of your back pain which means duration of pain and mode of onset. I would also like to ask you if it is associated with any leg pain or any other neurological symptoms like numbness, paraesthesias ( electrical shock like abnormal sensations) or any weakness in limbs. Please also tell me about any associated symptoms like fever, weight loss etc. What medications you generally take and what has been your treatment history till now for existing problem. Kindly show me photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Kindly take biod3 max 1 tab dailyx10 paracetamol 250mg od & sos x5days do back (spine)/shoulder/knee exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take do not ignore it. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If no relief in 4_5 days, then contact me again.

Your pain is usually caused by placing too much stress or strain over the trapezius (shoulder) muscle. Treatment is relaxation followed by strengthening of those particular muscles. 1) start your treatment with hot fomentation (using hot water bag over the painful area) - this will help in reducing the spasm. 2) go for self massage technique: tilt your head back, and with the palms and fingers of each hand, squeeze the flesh at the base of your neck on either side of your spine. Then, slowly roll your head forwards, still squeezing your skin. Hold the stretch for 10 seconds, then return your head to an upright position. The amount of flesh you can squeeze depends on your state of relaxation. Follow the above regime for 1 week and then start strengthening exercise to avoid re-occurrence. Regards!

Mr. Lybrate-user, please avoid pain movement. Initially give some time to body just for heeling take hot thermal effect and rest and make muscles relax. Don't go for forward bending if required then only with knee movement to avoid over stress on the spine.

I would like to examine you in detail & investigate. Preliminary investigations suggested: hb, tlc, dlc, esr, blood sugar fasting & pp, uric acid, vit d urine r/e x-ray of the affected part. Anyway it may be tried sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick mattress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomentation paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Elder vit zc 1 tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. Do not ignore it. Let it not become beginning of a bigger problem. Make sure that you are not allergic to any of the medicines that he/she is going to take. For emergency treatment contact your nearest hospital or family doctor. If it does not give relief in 4-5 days, please inform.

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily. Bhujang asana. Core strengthening exercises. Back stretching. Do the cat/cow stretch.

In high uric acid avoid few diets i.e. high purine-rich foods, milk products, protein foods, meat, dried beans, dried peas, mushrooms, whey proteins which are used in zym, diuretic medicines. Eat balanced diet , eat banana, take amino acid rich diets, L- glutamine like supplements, whole grain, oats, green veg., low cholesterol foods, plenty of water in day time, Do test Kidney Function Test every 6 months to monitor levels of uric acid. Consult doctor always for medicines. Do not take medicines by self. go morning walk daily good changes in lifestyle you can reduced weight also.

Try to take rest for 1-2 hours in day. Distract yourself from mobile/ tv/ computer or anything that puts a pressure on your eyes and head. For joint apply omni gel. Keep yourself stress free. Try to take adequate sleep. Take tablet paracetamol 500mg after taking food. Do tests cbc. Blood sugar. Share with me your symptoms in detail including status of your blood pressure, I can prepare an advice accordingly. Do yoga/meditation has a great relaxation power.

Iam 28 years female wth right knee partial acl tear. Now I met with an accident and got fractured of lateral condyle comminuted fx and underwent Orif surgery. Will I be able to walk again without any support. I mean after 8 months at least. Please be frank and reply.

it takes atleast a minimum of 6-8 weeks after surgery to mobilise your knee joint and depending on the healing to start weight bearing. by around 3 months if the fracture healing is satisfactory you will be fully weight bearing. hope this answers ur question

I have osteo arthritis and knee problem. I was taking calcium with d3 and was told by doctor not to sit on the floor and everything was going fine for a year. But due to some reason I sat on floor for 2 hours. For something and now the back of my left knee is in pain for 7-10 days and is not taking my weight. What can I do so that I can continue doing my daily activities in a normal way. I am female 56 years of age. Thanks.

Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back, knee & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 4-5days, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck.
