Dear Lybrateuser, - To build chest muscles you have to have a well balanced diet & do regular exercise - have more of fruits & vegetables, wholegrains & protein rich foods like eggs, non veg (if you take), milk & milk products like cheese, paneer, butter milk, yogurt, soya products, tofu, legumes including beans, lentils, pulses, also peas, sprouts & nuts like almonds, walnuts, pista, cashews - do regular exercise like walking, jogging, swimming for 20-30 min, do pull ups, pushups, sit ups, crunches, also do yoga & deep breathing daily morning to develop your body & to keep fit - consult a dietician on forum for your exact requirement of calories & nutrients per day.

But actually my question is about hypotension as a side effect .how it can occur due to dopamine?

MBBS, Dip.Cardiology, Fellowship in Clinical Cardiology(FICC), Fellowship in Echocardiology

Dopamine itself doesn't cause hypotension. But yes at high dosage dopamine can cause cardiac arrhythmias which can lead to in adequate filling and pimping so may cause hypotension.

Hope you have discussed all the problems with the doctors. The symptoms needs to seen objectively with clinical examination and consider all the reports so that one can rule out if there is any major problem. So please update all the reports like CBC, ESR, electrolytes, thyroid tests, urine routine ECG, etc. Since you have mentioned only about low haemoglobin, please start taking iron supplements for now and revert back. You can enquire the doctor about the diagnosis (or ask for other tests to confirm the diagnosis ). You can also start Homeopathy which is safe and can be taken with other medicines. You can contact me with all the details for a private consultation.

Hi. I am smoking from nearly 5 years and I smoke 6 cigarettes a day. Some times I get a cough and a mild chest pain. Is this because of smoking? Do I need to quit smoking? Please advise.

MBBS, DPM
Psychiatrist, Bangalore
Hi. I am smoking from nearly 5 years and I smoke 6 cigarettes a day. Some times I get a cough and a mild chest pain. ...
You are still young. Only since 5 years you are smoking. These things makes quitting comparatively easy. Later, it is hard and takes more efforts to quit. If you have any withdrawal symptoms like headache, lack of concentration, increased hunger, irritability or lack of memory, you can try with nicotine gum or lozenges or patch. Please motivate yourself continuously with some gifts for next 12 weeks. That will reduce craving for nicotine. All the best. Cough and chest pain needs investigations to rule out harmful effects of smoking. Even if they are normal at present, quitting smoking keeps it normal for many years.
