TIPS FOR A HEALTHY HEART

TIPS FOR A HEALTHY HEART

  • Avoid smoking.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Follow a balanced diet.
  • Be physically active.
  • Manage your stress.
  • Monitor your BP, blood sugar, and cholesterol.
  • Limit your alcohol level.
  • Eat more vegetables.

How can I reduce my high blood pressure by controlling my daily diet or what is the easiest way to reduce blood pressure.

BHMS
Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, Few lifestyle changes can help you in controlling and preventing the high blood pressure, even if you're taking blood pressure medication. Eat healthy foods. Consume more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and low-fat dairy foods. Eat less saturated fat and trans fat. Decrease the salt in your diet. So, avoid eating processed foods, such as canned soups or frozen dinners which contains extra salt in it. Keeping a healthy weight, or losing weight if you're overweight or obese, can help you control your high blood pressure and lower your risk of related health problems. Increase physical activity which can help lowering your blood pressure, manage stress, reduce your risk of several health problems. Get indulged in regular exercising (if your doctor allows you). Limit alcohol. Even if you're healthy, alcohol can raise your blood pressure. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Don't smoke. Tobacco injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. Reduce stress as much as possible. Practice healthy coping techniques, such as muscle relaxation, deep breathing or meditation. Getting regular physical activity and plenty of sleep can help, too. Monitor your blood pressure at home. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Essentia Aurea/ thrice daily which is a cardio-tonic which helps in maintaining blood pressure, improves muscle tone of the heart and narrowing of blood vessels.

Back ache, running nose and anxiety symptoms etc are some of the less common the side effect of this medicine. You should consult your diabetician for further advise and change in the medicine. Hello lybrate-user, this doesn't sound like an anxiety disorder but a normal bodily reaction to the situations that any person feels. Although, if this feeling of anxiety is continuing in other situations as well, and there is intense nervousness or panic, I would recommend that you speak to a professional as soon as possible as it can be detrimental in the long run.

Why doctor give statin to their patients to prevent heart attack if statin can not percent heart attacks.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS
General Physician, Delhi
Statin group of medicines are given after heart attack to lower bad cholesterol, but now doctors are divided to give or not to give because of side effects like memory loss, risk to liver and kidneys, cancer risk etc, some doctors are giving dietary counselling, others are giving twice a week and still others are writing one per day out of reflex!

My uric acid level is 8.2. And my cholesterol has also increased. It is border line high. Please advise.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), Masters in Healthcare Services
Ayurveda, Una
Do not take too much proteins as they will contribute to more production of uric acid. For high cholesterol level do walk daily, avoid deep fried and junk food. Add fresh fruits and fresh vegetables in your diet. For borderline cholesterol you do not need any medicine, you can control it by change in diet and lifestyle. You can also consult a nearby dietician and get a diet chart. You can repeat your uric acid and lipid profile after two or three months.

Sir, I have high bp and diabetes since more than 20 years. My age is now 49 years. Now I am feeling weakness, if I do any hard work. Will you tell me some tips on healthy food?

M.sc dietitics and food service management, Diabetes educator
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Bhopal
If you are also suffering for high blood pressure then you have to leave pickle, papad and pouring extra salt. Timely and balanced diet is as important as regular medicine intake to control diabetes. Use sufficient amount of ginger, onion, garlic, coriander, lemon, greenchilli, black paper, fenugreek seeds, cinnamon, bay leaves, in food iteams. Complex carbohydrates and fibre should be included in diet. No long gapes and skipping of meals. Never miss out breakfast. Junk food should be avoided. You should avoid fasting and feasting. Chapattis of bran flour (unrefined) is given to diabetes patients and to increase the nutrition value add gram and soyabean flour to it. Take small and frequent meals. You can consult me privately online on Lybrate i" ll give you some more suggestions.
