Hi sir I am married have two kids. My wife age is 30 had anxiety problems after having twin child. So I consulted a doctor six months before who prescribed new cita 15 mg and etinap. 5mg. Now after six months doctors has added valium 5mg. She could not able to walk steadily till noon next day. All the medicines are for night dose. She goes into deep sleep and next day she has shivering. This is happening for the past one week after adding valium. Is this normal or I have to revisit my psychiatric doctor.

Dear, psychiatrist prescribed those medicines because they felt the need for those after considering the case. If your wife is facing problems with these medicines you should revisit and appraise the psychiatrist. Take care.

I'm not attracted to wife after she got fat. But I am very much interested in sex. I could not tell her the reason and I do not want to hurt with this chilly reason. But I love my wife. Please suggest the solution. Love marriage 3 years back and We have 2 years old kid.

Becoming fat is common thing in this current trend. If you are bothered by this, You can do certain things to change the situation. Insist your wife to go for a walk early in the morning for about half-an-hour. Tell her to talk nutrients food and on a healthy diet. To make her satisfied, you can also go with her in the morning which will help to boost your metabolism as well. If you could see that your wife is reducing weight, working on to reduce the weight, hope your hesitation will also get resolved. Weight reduction will not alone helps for satisfied sexual relationship, also helps her stay fit.

Yes its true I am taking antidepressant prescribed by Dr. to stay fit sice few years to manage unwanted pressure created by my private company on me. Company HR got this information from their some sources and start harassing me to quit the job and resign But I do not resign then Can I fight with company on this issue. An employee cannot terminate merely on the basis that a person suffers from psychiatric illness, it should be proved that because of the illness he is unfit for the job. If you go to court, if the company fires you citing psychiatric illnesss as the reason, the court will refer you to a government medical board comprising of psychiatrists for opinion. They will re assess you completely over a period of time and submit their report to the court, based on which the judge will decide. All the best.

Homoeopathy has good treatment for your problem, without causing adverse effects. It requires study of your case and symptoms in detail. To start with, take homoeopathic medicine kali phos 30 daily in the morning and in the evening and give feedback after 4 days.

My brother 32 years old, drinks more alcohol & smoking a lot of cigarettes. How I can control him to avoid these? please suggest me?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
You cannot control him. He must want to leave these habits, ideally. You can however sped a lot of time convincing him that his habit will ruin him and shorten life, which he so much enjoys unfortunately by using chemical means. The more information (without hyping it up) you learn and share with him, the better the chances of him wanting to quit. Ideally he must want to stop these habits. Otherwise it will become a futile exercise. If these habits have become too much then you will need to admit him into a center for rehabilitation. He will need to be there for at least 6 months and they will do detoxification and treatment for the addictive nature followed by extensive counseling. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving and to act as an antabuse i. E. He will have a serious reaction, if he consumes even a small quantity of alcohol or alcohol based substances. It has to be carefully monitored to see that he not only consumes the medication but is also avoiding alcohol. Ultimately, it is his will power and the support that he receives from the medical fraternity and his close and dear ones. He must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course take a look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i. E. Another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide him on several measures and precautions he will need to take to stay with his resolve. Even after the rehabilitation he must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. The family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. He cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to his drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. Make a serious plan with whoever else’s support he can get and act on it fast. If he is not cooperative, there are some centers that will come and pick him up, after he is completely drunk, and admit him by force. This will however, require the family’s consent.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a common mental health problem. Symptoms typically include recurring thoughts and repetitive actions in response to the recurring thoughts. A common example is recurring thoughts about germs and dirt, with a need to wash your hands repeatedly to "clean off the germs" However, there are many other examples like sexual thoughts, counting, checking, orderliness, etc. The usual treatments are cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) antidepressant medicine, or both. Treatment often works well to reduce the symptoms and distress of OCD greatly. All the best.
