I had ectopic pregnancy last September 2015. Hsg show my both tube open. We have been trying for baby last 6 month. N 2 iui cycle not succeed. Doctor advise me for laparoscopic surgery for seeing is there any infection in tubes. Pls suggest me other alternative except ivf n laparoscopy.

MBBS, DGO, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology)
Gynaecologist, Chennai
Hi, HSG will only show whether tunes are open anatomically. But whether it is functional. that is whether there is motility to catch the egg and transport the embryo back to the uterus can be checked only by seeing which means visualizing thro laparoscopy. In that also even if the tube shows motility it does not guarantee that it can catch the embryo which nobody can say.But atleast we can rule out if the tube are plastered and not moving or adhesions are there then there is no point in trying and ivf is the only solution. To come to that clarity it will be helpful. Also if there are minor adhesions it can be released. In any way laparoscopy will be helpful. But you can try few more iui cycles in a good center before going in for lap.

My son, details given below is underweight and underweight and poorest eating habits to the extent of not eating any vegetables, fruits, chapatis, milk. He is very much full of anger, gets provoked on small things, gets irritated easily, doesn't pay attention to his physical hygiene. Pls suggest any homoeopathic way of treatment at normal price preferably in South Delhi. Thanks.

Pediatrician, Jaipur
He does not need any medicines at all.Correct councelling is needed to manage his behaviour disorder. To begin with,do not get disturbed ,only you can correct his behaviour, Accept & appreciate all good done by him. Never scold or slap for wrong doings but never accept his undue demands.Offer him foods at 2-3 hours but never force even he does not eat for a day.Talk to him without any prejudice.Soon he realises that his undue demands will not be fulfilled & appreciated for good .

What is the best medicine for a 7 month old child. Can you please suggest me a better medicine.

MBBS, MD
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
You means tonics. Well a child at seven months needs four times breast milk, 2-3 time s soup like food made at home of cereals, curd or milk. No necessity of tonics. You may add vitd sachets.

Do Not eat Your Kids Leftovers

Do Not eat Your Kids Leftovers

Women's day special
A must follow rule for moms of young toddler - please don't eat leftovers

One rule that all you moms absolutely must follow is to never finish up the food your child has left. Eating the food left over on your child’s plate is a very common phenomenon and this leads to the mom eating double and gaining unnecessary weight.

That food is designed for your kid and is rich in calories, fats which are required for their growth.

Eating even smaller amounts of foods over a period of time can result in substancial weight gain, let it go in the dustbin and please do not treat your stomach like one.

I listen So many females getting breast milk on between 15 to 20 years age on maturity. Is it true. Can you explain. And Milk come out On teen age years between 15 to 20 years age. When it will produces on breast.

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
Pediatrician, Mangalore
Usually milk secretion from the breasts occurs once female get pregnant, but milk secretion is depends on hormone prolactin. Any stimulation of the nipple regularly in non pregnant lady can stimulate prolactin secretion, that lee's to milk secretion.

My baby is nine and a half months old now. He is able to stand on his own by holding a chair, sofa or wall. When will he start to walk?

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS
Pediatrician, Tumkur
Babies start standing with support by 9 months & without support by 9 to 12 months. By 13 months they should be able to walk without support. 1 or 2 months delay is not at all a problem.

My Son is one year old . Facing cold & cough again & again also what should I feed him bcz he not wants to eat cerelac , dal etc. What should I give me ?

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), F.I.A.M.S. (Pediatrics)
Pediatrician, Muzaffarnagar
For repeated cold, do not use any antibiotic. To increase immunity, give vitamin a 60, 000 units daily for 3 to 4 days. Give him food of his taste, if he refuses one item, try another, not all at a time. Don't force feed.

My kid aged 8 years is having cold cough symptoms with high fever going upto 102 occasionally, the local doctor prescribed meftal b.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS
Pediatrician, Delhi
I think this is a viral fever and your local doctor has done a great job. In most of the cases fever might take up to 5 days. If child is active alert and there is no other problem after giving meftal p I think you can wait for another 3 days. If fever do not respond after that you must revisit your local doctor for further investigation and management.

Dear, your child is learning. He should be given training according to your cultural and society needs. At this age he needs appreciation and encouragement. Don't force him for anything. Just encourage him. Bless him and care him. Take care.

7 months baby is suffering from blocked nose and severe coughing. Does nebulising with saline water helps? Or steam is a better option. We have both the things at home. Does nebulising pose any long term dependence?

MBBS, MD - Paediatrics
Pediatrician, Pune
No nebulisation has no dependence...normal saline is alright...but if nebulisation apparatus is not kept clean and sterile then there is risk of transmission of organisms through aerosol therapy....so do not make it a habbit of nebulising frequently...you can use other options

Hello, My question is about my son aged about 10 years and his problem is, he has no control over his bowels/ he acts as he is unaware or what is his problem we are not able to understand, he will almost shit in his pants when he is back from school. He is not very regular in his daily motions, he will go in afternoon/ sometimes will not go will go the next day. He hogs on food particularly non-veg, Please suggest how to over come this problem.

MBBS, MD
Pediatrician, Gurgaon
It seems child is not given toilet. I would advise you to be patience and start teaching him now. Daily morning he must be given a glass ful of lukewarm water. Visit to toilet. Give him green veggie food as fibers in food help in motion. Do not scold him and nor irritate him. By the way how he is at school.

Now my baby is 5 month old. I have low Brest milk if I eat more vegetables or fruits also having same problem pls suggest it is there any tablet or any home remedy.

DNB(Pediatrics), DCH
Pediatrician, Chennai
Hi Ms. Lybrate-user it is quite normal by this time to get secretions low, thing is you eat lots protein containing food and drink plenty of water. After 6 months of your baby's age you can start complementary feeds and increase complements gradually.

Hello, Green stools is common thing to occur. Check if the baby is down with mild cold or cough,as that can sometimes lead to green stools. Ensure that mother is given good nutrition.

You may continue maalish waalee (massager) as long as you wish. Mother is best massager. For good development, proper adequate feeding is enough at this age.

My son is not having solid food he is 1 yr. Should I give his any multivitamin medicine.

MBBS, Diploma in Child Health (DCH)
Pediatrician, Pune
A 1 year child has to be gradually weaned to semi solids and solid foods. The process needs to start from 6 months onwards. If your child has just been introduced to semisolid, be patient and keep giving him 3 semisolid meals. You can give him multivitamin medicine till he is not accepting his feeds properly.
