MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
It's not possible to lower it within 10 days but I will suggest you to get your blood checked for cbc creatine levels and follow up with reports and we have to give symptomatic treatment and few tips on diet for kidney disease - have a low protein diet (decrease in milk and its products and also decrease in the intake of pulses and nuts etc) - can use corn oil, sunflower oil, olive oil for cooking -decrease the intake of butter, ghee, cream, coconut etc - avoid farsan food items - whole grain cereals are best for carbohydrate intake - get your blood checked for electrolyte levels regularly and adjust salt in diet as per the report values.

My kidney stone 10 mm. So I ask you to any easy method to permanently stop making stone in kidney.

Diploma - Urology, MS - General Surgery, MBBS
Urologist, Kochi
Hello and welcome to lybrate. As the stone size is 1 cm, it's big enough to get it out of your kidney. It can be easily treated with a procedure called eswl. As an urologist, I must tell you, there's no permanent cure of stone, but observe preventive steps. Drink atleast 12-15 glasses fluids daily. Avoid milk and dairy products in excess. Red meats also, should be taken once or twice a week only.

I have problem in urination, the force is not normal. It gives mild pain while urinating.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS
Urologist, Ahmedabad
Dear , 1. Most common cause of lack of force in urination and mild pain would be insufficient fluid intake leading small quantity of urine resulting in lack of force and the colour of urine would give some indication Fluid intake should be increased to such an extent that the colour of urine is either watery or straw coloured. 2.Constipation and anal fissure can also produce less force because of spam of the sphincter muscle. 3.Increased frequency of urination can also result in less force because of insufficient quantity 4If there is stone in urinary especially lower tract then also force can be less. 5.Similarly infection in urine can also decrease force. 6. Some form of obstruction in urinary passage If increased fluid intake and treating constipation does not solve your problem then you need to undergo full workup by urine examination, sonography with post void film and proceed from then on. Dr. Kiran Mehta.

I am urinating frequently day and night. Urine color normal. I usually drink 3-4liters of water daily. I do physical workout 3 days a week. I have diabetes. Please advise.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. Take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Also you need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. Also you need to take a low carbohydrate rich diet. Avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc.

My kidney had damaged slightly due to the over dosage of medicine which was prescribed by the doctor whom I consulted. What are all the foods that I should not eat?

MBBS
General Physician,
it depends on how much damage has occured. it can evaluated by serum creatinine and urea level estimation.if its much higher than normal level water restriction needed. if u are hypertensive then salt restriction needed. high protein foods like meat ,fish should be restricted. limit intake of nuts, dairy products too .also if electrolyte imbalance seen due to improper kidney function ,diet would be changed accordingly.

I have kidney stones. Doctor suggested me to continue STON 1 B6 syp. There is no need of surgery. I am continuing that medicine more than 1 year. Should I continue this medicine?

BHMS
Homeopath,
Dear madam, conduct an usg of your whole abdomen. If you find the stone is absent in the usg report then you can stop the medicine. However if you find that the stone is present and it is below 3mm in dimension then take homoeopathic mother tincture berberis vulgaris q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. This medicine will expell the stone through urine within 15 days if the stone is less than 3mm in dimensions.

Some one said me that intake of fenugreek affects the kidney function by increase in creatinine out go in urine .is it right or otherwise. Your expert opinion is eagerly awaited.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Even fenugreek can take many benefits to our kidney and body health, but it can also take many side effects. Side effects caused by fenugreek range from skin irritation to internal bleeding, but as a food ingredient, fenugreek is considered safe to use if it is taken under the recommended dosage. Besides, fenugreek may inhibit the absorption of iron, while patient with high creatinine often has anemia, so patient should also pay attention to this aspect when he is going to take fenugreek. Thereby, it is necessary for patient with high creatinine level to consult his doctor and a dietitian before he makes fenugreek into his eating plan. While if you need any help, you can also email us your problem, and we will give you a detailed reply in time.

Increase intake of liquids like water, juice, soup, lime water lemon soda etc. 4. Be sure to drink enough water each day. Usually 1 to 2 liters of water per day is adequate. 5. Drink more if you are perspiring heavily, working outdoors, the weather is hot, etc. 6. Increase the use of barley, horse gram (a type of bean), ginger, and brown rice or parboiled rice. 7. Avoid suppressing urges to urinate and defecate. 9. Boil 10-12 basil leaves in 1 cup of water for 15 minutes. Mix 1 teaspoon of honey in it and take twice a day. Dear kidney stones can be removed easily through herbal medicines so, Pls send ur USG report becoz medication for stones depends upon size number and location of stones and can be given after USG.

How does gal stones affect on kidney? Is there any mechanical injuries by these stones?

CGO, BHMS (Silver Medalist)
Homeopath, Noida
Dear lybrate-user, gallstones are hardened deposits of digestive fluid that can form in your gallbladder. Your gallbladder is a small, pear-shaped organ on the right side of your abdomen, just beneath your liver. Gallstones do not affect your kidneys in anyway. They are two separate organs. Gallstones can block the tubes (ducts) through which bile flows from your gallbladder or liver to your small intestine. Jaundice and bile duct infection can result. If blocked these stones can cause severe pain.

Hi, I have been recently diagnosed with multiple calculi in my left kidney. And the largest one is of 17 mm. Should I go for surgery (as doctors have suggested) or shall I wait to see the effect of ayurvedic medicines which I am eating now. Banana with camphor is what I have been taking till now. Are there chances of getting the stone dissolved, there is no pain now in my abdominal region.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery, FIAGES(Fellowship in minimal access surgery), FMAS (Fellowship in Minimal Access Surgery)
General Surgeon, Ghaziabad
Stone size is big. It won't dissolve. Camphor causes slow poisoning like lead/arsenic. Should not take that. You should undergo ESWL or PCNL. Since there are multiple stones PCNL will be better. PCNL is a key hole endoscopic surgery. You can consult me or any urologist regarding this. Thanks.

I am male 45 and I am suffering from kidney disease my creatinine has reached to 5.2 and I want you tell me the Indian diet so that my create nine level can reduce.

MBBS
General Physician,
Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine phosphate in muscle, and is usually produced at a fairly constant rate by the body (depending on muscle mass of your body. Its filtered by your kidney only so if your kidney starts malfunctioning its level rises in serum. So to reduce your creatinine level almost solely dependant on how your kidney is functioning. Now you might be having chronic kidney disease. So you have to follow strict diet to not get any complications of ckd like hyperkalemia (high potassium in blood, high bp, low calcium and high phosphates in blood or anemia. Low potassium diet should contain rice, beans, broccoli, cabbage, carrots, cooked bread and bread products (not whole grains, pasta, cauliflower, celery, coffee cherriescorn, pies without chocolate, cucumber, cookies without nuts, lettuce, white mushrooms, peaches, onions, pears, peas, peppers, plums, radish, strawberries, water chestnuts, tangerine can be taken. Most of the fruits have high potassium but fruits like watermelon (limit to 1 cup, pineapple or apple of medium size, strawberry, cranberries can be taken in small amount. Avoid milk and milk products, meat, egg, salt in high amount. Take max 2 litres of water in a day. Regular follow up of bp, blood sugar and serum urea, creatinine should be done. Iron folic acid tablets can be taken after meal if you are anemic.
