स्वप्नदोष तथा प्रमेह

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello I have been having vaginal itching for the last two weeks. This is external only and not inside the vagina. I do not get any bad odour or see any inusla discharge. There is no discomfort or burning sensation while urinating. But the itching is unbearable and causes a lot of discomfort. I am sexually active but I think this started after using public toilets in my office. Can't be a100% sure though Please help.

Hi Lybrate user This Itching may be due to some fungal infection to get rid of this problem you can use dusting powder contromazole or cream 2% contromazole. You can use Tablet Chandraprabha Vati two tablets two times a days after taking foods. Thanks Regards!

Hello, if neither of you have the infection then you can't get hiv. However if any of you have any other infections then either can get infected. It would be wise to have an hiv test done at the end of three months to rule out the possibility completely.

Genophobia - 3 Associated Causes

MBBS
Sexologist, Panchkula
Genophobia - 3 Associated Causes

Genophobia or coitophobia is the irrational psychological fear of intercourse. It is a type of a phobia and people suffering from it fill all or most of the criteria of specific phobia according to the ICD (The International Statistical Classification of Diseases). Genophobic people may be terrified of sexual intercourse or all acts involving sex. It is different from erotophobia in the sense erotophobia is the irrational fear of sexuality and not the act in itself.

Causes:

  1. The causes of genophobia may be attributed to different experiences and origins according to different psychological perspectives. According to the psychoanalytic perspective, genophobia may be caused by the rigid or extremely religious upbringing, which affected the development of ego, making the individual fear all acts that are sexual because it causes moral anxiety and a severe clash of the superego (ethical portion of one's personality)and i'd (primitive component of one's personality).
  2. According to the learning perspective, genophobia may develop due to an unpleasant sexual experience such as rape or molestation. Rape Trauma Syndrome leads the survivor to relive the trauma several times and develop apprehension. They may begin to fear sex eventually by relating it to the unpleasant experience, eventually leading to genophobia. It may also be caused if the individual observes sexual acts that are traumatizing in nature, in media or otherwise.
  3. It may also result from severe performance anxiety, especially for those who lack sexual experience and have abstained from sex for a prolonged period of time. There is also a chance that other phobias, such as the fear of diseases, especially STDs, may lead to a fear of sexual acts. Some people might relate sexual intercourse with acquiring diseases, thus leading to the development of genophobia.

Symptoms: Symptoms of genophobia include the fear of sexual intercourse and all acts within, breathlessness, nausea, dizziness, feeling sick and fear of losing control. All these symptoms take place in the context of sexual acts.

Treatment: Genophobia is treated like all other phobias. Therapeutic technique such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (a conversation centric therapy that focuses on how thoughts and beliefs can affect one's actions) is widely used in the treatment of genophobia along with medications. The therapeutic technique varies from patient to patient. For instance, the therapeutic technique used for a rape survivor would be completely different from that which is used for an individual with a fear of STDs. With proper treatment, genophobia is curable, eventually allowing the individual to have a particularly healthy sex life. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

I am 28 having bilateral polycystic ovaries trying for baby since 3 years please help me how to conceive.

I am 28 having bilateral polycystic ovaries trying for baby since 3 years please help me how to conceive.
The majority of cases of infertility due to ovulatory disorders may be prevented with dietary and lifestyle modifications. Although PCOS has no cure, it can be successfully managed to the point where you can conceive naturally and have a healthy baby. Regular exercise is also very beneficial for controlling PCOS and insulin resistance It’s also important to chart your cycles to see when you are ovulating. You may be ovulating later than the usual 14-16 day of the cycle. You need to take care of all these things for conceiving.

Snoring - 3 Best And Simple Exercises For It!

Snoring is becoming an increasingly relevant condition as more and more lifestyle diseases are attributed to it. It is found to be associated with high blood pressure, diabetes, heart attacks, strokes, depression, obesity and many more conditions. As obesity becomes more prevalent, the incidence of snoring and sleep apnoea are also increasing. Exercises to lose weight, and tone u the muscles can help to reduce your snoring. Snoring is a common condition and it generally takes place more in men than women. It mostly affects individuals who are overweight and the condition gets worsened with age. Though it is not a serious condition at first, it has to be dealt with as it can lead to other major health conditions and affects the sleep of your sleeping partner. The main cause of snoring is an improper flow of air through the mouth or nose.

The airflow to the nose is obstructed by factors like:

  1. Obesity

  2. Nasal congestion/ sinusitis

  3. Pregnancy

  4. Genetic factors

  5. Enlarged adenoids and tonsils

  6. Large tongue, small jaw.

How to prevent snoring:

It is essential that prior attention is given to this condition before it turns out to be a serious problem. Treating nose block and mouth breathing in childhood can prevent this from developing in adult life. The self-help tips that can be used by individuals to stop snoring include proper exercising, losing weight, quitting smoking and not drinking alcohol as well as setting up an ideal sleeping pattern. There are devices available in the pharmaceutical stores like the mouth guard device which are specially designed to help stop snoring. There are medications also available that help to stop snoring and have good quality sleep.

Amazing and Simple Exercises to Stop Snoring:

You can cure your snoring problem easily by practicing vocal exercises without the need of even going through a painful and expensive surgery.

  1. Singing: Singing is an excellent exercise that is very good for your vocal passage and that can cure the snoring problem. It is best that you start singing in a warm shower and the moist steam of the warm water would soothe your throat. The benefit of singing is that it tightens the muscles and it is an excellent and natural way that would cure your sleeping problem. You can practice singing at least 20 minutes in a day, and you would surely experience the difference.

  2. Yawning: The second simple exercise that can be done to stop snoring is yawning, which involves opening and closing of your mouth. The exercise done in a yawning motion would strengthen both the inner and outer neck muscles. It is very necessary that the mouth is opened widely, and this activity can be done anytime of the day.

  3. Tongue exercises by pushing the tongue against the cheeks, stretching out to touch the nose tip and chin. These work very well in childhood.

Though snoring is not a serious condition, over a period of time it could lead to the development of diabetes and hypertension, heart attack and stroke. It also has a big role to play in weight gain, and road traffic accidents.
