I had a left knee injury in November month, my knee got hit against a wall. It did not pain after a week from the injury. But when I started playing cricket on the first day itself I felt the pain again, it is paining since then. I consulted a bone setter and got temporary plasters for 2 times but it did not showed any much improvement. I got x-rayed (AP/LAT) and the radiologist report said -1 visualised bones show no obvious abnormality 2-joint space is normal 3-adjacent soft tissue is unremarkable. What should I do. Please advice.

After 10 years of your original injury, now the only alternative is going for tendon transfer surgery. Out of the 3 tendons which bring foot down, one of them is transferred anteriorly. So that instead of pulling the foot down the same tendon will pull the foot upwards. The next operation is fusion of foot joints so that it cannot go down at all.

My mom is above 55 age. Her left leg is getting bent by the knee, Doctor its due to calcium. I do not know for sure, ...
Bent in leg can be due to spongy bones and this can be due to Vitamin -D and calcium deficiency and there are number of reasons for deficient calcium absorption in body and a few reasons are------ 1.Diet deficient in calcium 2.No proper sunlight intake 3.No calcium supplements intake after Menopause and after menopause calcium levels start depleting from body at a faster rate due to hormonal changes and this is the time when a woman should take extra care of her diet and supplements . So start taking a proper calcium and Vitamin-D diet but before this please go for following blood tests empty stomach immediately--------CBC,ESR,THYROID PROFILE,CALCIUM,VITAMIN-D.

I have a lower back pain because of bulging of disc issue I should go for hot or cold fomentation?

I have a lower back pain because of bulging of disc issue
I should go for hot or cold fomentation?
Dear lybrate user. There's a dictum: once backache. Always backache so. This being a recurrent condition due to inherent weakness of our spinal structure (nature made the spine to remain horizontal. We the homo sapiens have rebelled against it and stood up against gravitational forces. Thereby we suffer: I call it a part if the penalty we pay for adoring effect posture. Animals don't suffer from backache like us!). Regarding your query: both will be useful. Alternately hot and cold fomentation will be better. Apply 5 - 10 minutes each twice daily. But more than that. Back - strengthening exercises and careful diligence of posture and movements will be must.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Actually surgery for prolapsed disc is required when there are some neurological symptoms or there is significant back pain not relieved by normal conservative treatment. I will like to see a detailed neurological assessment, with x rays and if possible mri scans so that I ca advise accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. You can also discuss your case and treatment plans with me in a greater detail in a private consultation.
