Hello- Delayed/irregular menses leads to delayed ovulation which can affect your dreams of getting pregnant. You might be suffering from PCOD. It is caused by improper food intake and improper routine specially done in the time of menses. A) Avoid spicy food fast food during the bleeding and take fresh Indian food. B) Use wet sponging instead of taking bath on those days. C) Avoid running, skipping and other exercises on those days. D) Use Dashmoolarishtha 2 tsp twice daily with water ten days before menses.

It happens because of hormonal imbalances or the lack of nutrition to produce/balance the hormones. You need to take Pituitarinum 6C one dose daily for 5 days to balance the hormones which regulates menses....and start taking naturamore female powder 1 spoon daily in morning and evening for 1 month. This will definitely give you results. As the Powder is just a supplement containing proteins, vitamins, minerals and all...you will get result 110%. Just inform me if you are not getting the powder. Take care... :)

My mom aged 46, has severe pain in the ovaries region (acute pain) both sides during 5th day of her periods. This pain is 2nd time which is seen in her (prev. Pain seen last month during her periods) 1. May I know what mau be the common reason for this? 2. Whom do I consult on the issue? 3. Any precautions suggested?

DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), DGO, MBBS

If it is severe pain in pelvic region, she should meet a gynaecologist. There could me many causes like infection, congestion, a cyst. So it would be better to meet a gynac and do a sonography. Take care.

Dear Ms. Lybrate-user no problems with oral sex as long as you both enjoy. This does not affect health generally. But for some urinary infection can come. Urine infected with oral bacteria. These are easily curable. Otherwise no issues. In fact many couples find these more interesting and do these as foreplay and do regular sex.

Hi, According to the HSG report, there is no RT and LT spillage seen. This confirms tubal blocks. During previous month's HSG, back flow of the dye was noticed. Again it confirms tubal blocks. Due to this bilateral tubal blocks, chances of conception is difficult. It is better to consult a good gynaecologist for further treatment. If you are ready for IVF, it may be a better option.

Hey, I observed the presence of vaginal discharge almost a month ago and I went for a test! It showed presence of wbcs but no bacteria or yeast or a parasite! I completed the course of antibiotics and still I feel like the infection is not gone! I can still feel vaginal discharge which is very irritating and my urine has a foul smell! I'm really worried! What should I do and what might be the reasons behind it?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
It's a problem only if there is burning vaginal pain during urinatuon or the discharge is mixed with blood or it aggravates during periods which are painful as well or it causes repeated itching. Otherwise all women get some normal discharge, which is physiological and requires some extra hygiene from time to time. You can get a urine routine exam done, wash the area with plain running water after urine, change underwear twice a day and avoid wearing damp underwear.

Diabetes and pregnancy

Pregnant women who have diabetes before becoming pregnant have special health concerns. In addition to the new demands that pregnancy puts on the body, women with diabetes must also carefully monitor and control their blood sugar levels and manage their diabetes medications.

If you have diabetes and would like to get pregnant, there are steps you can take to lessen the risks to you and your baby.

Diabetes pregnancy preparation

Meeting with your health care provider before becoming pregnant is very important to ensure a healthy pregnancy. Your health care provider can help you determine if your diabetes is controlled well enough for you to stop your birth control method. A blood test called the glycosylated hemoglobin test (hba1c) can help evaluate how well your diabetes has been controlled over the past eight to 12 weeks.

Having other medical tests before you become pregnant can also help your diabetes health care provider monitor your health and prevent the development of diabetic complications during pregnancy. Your health care provider may recommend tests that include:

A urinalysis to screen for diabetic kidneycomplications cholesterol and triglyceride blood tests eye exam to screen for diseases common in diabetics such as glaucoma, cataracts, and retinopathy electrocardiogram blood work for renal and liver function diabetic foot exam

A pre-conception counseling appointment with your health care provider is another important step in preparing for pregnancy. Pre-conception counseling helps educate women so they can be physically and emotionally prepared -- and healthy -- for pregnancy.

Diabetes pregnancy and the importance of blood sugar control

Good blood sugar control is important before becoming pregnant, because many women do not even know they are pregnant until the baby has been growing for two to four weeks. High blood sugar levels early in the pregnancy (before 13 weeks) can cause birth defects. They also can increase the risks of miscarriage and diabetes-related complications.

Good blood sugar control means keeping blood glucose levels within the ideal range (70 to 100 mg/dl before meals, less than 120 mg/dl two hours after eating, and 100-140 mg/dl before the bedtime snack), as well as balancing meals, exercise, and diabetes medications.

I am glad that you know that she is afraid and that she is not playing sexual games of playing hard to get. Since she is genuinely afraid take her to a sexologist and have her discuss her fears to overcome whatever the false impression she may have about sex or intercourse. If not, she could do with some sex education and understand that this is normal between a man and a woman in marriage. If the communication between you two is okay, she can talk to you and express her fears and you can help her. Anyway you have to be very gentle with her and literally coax her into wanting sex. Some indian girls have been brought up in very protected environments and may have a lot of inhibitions about exposing their bodies to anyone, let alone a man, and her perception may be of severe abhorrence of sex because of the invasion into her body, and private parts at that. So a lot of care, gentleness and love must be exercised to tease her out of her inhibitions. Remember that the most important sexual organ is the brain: if you work on convincing and seducing her mind by gentle talk, she could be brought out of her anxiety and shyness. If you are effective, you can bring her to a point of no return by enticing the sexual desire, just by your talk! if talk is not enough and she allows you to touch her, then it is possible to drive her libido even more effectively by tapping and stimulating her erogenous zones: lower back, ears, back of the neck, inner thighs, nape of the neck, mouth/lips, nipples, breasts, vagina, and clitoris. You must progress gradually on these zones, little at a time, and when you see that she is receptive and is looking for more you may progress on to the more intense areas. Never hurry, as men are wont to do. And never attempt to do all of it on the same occasion. If she has a small vaginal opening, which can be dealt with even by her gynecologist, and in worse cases, she can have it opened surgically.
