I have gaps between my front teeth. How do we fix that? Do I need to get veneers or braces?

I have gaps between my front teeth. How do we fix that? Do I need to get veneers or braces?
Hello, the gap between teeth can be closed by: 1. Orthodontic (braces) treatment which is the best and most conservative treatment. This is the right age to get it done. Visit an orthodontist and get it checked. 2. Veneers 3. Crowns.

Bad breath from the mouth can be of various reasons. Like accumulation of plaque and tartar, decay in teeth, dry mouth, smoking and tobacco chewing, consumption of caffeinated beverages and alcoholic drinks, sore throat, bad digestion. For beginning, go for scaling and polishing of teeth. Use a mouthwash after brushing twice daily. Increase intake of water. Avoid oilly n spicy foods.

Make night time compulsory for your child.Use a non-fluoridated kids paste if the child has a habit of swallowing the paste while brushing.Just take a little pea sized quantity of the paste on the kids brush.Don't fill the brush with paste. It increases the risk of swallow and also adds to wastage rather than helping in brushing.

Around 50% of the time one or more wisdom tooth will be missing. Sometimes it can be embedded in jaw bone and not able to erupt in the mouth. An opg (orthopentamogram) x-ray will help to know what is the cause. You can get it done.

Hi I am suffering from teeth problem day by day its getting shorter He can I get over?

Hi I am suffering from teeth problem day by day its getting shorter He can I get over?
Dental attrition is a type of tooth wear caused by tooth-to-tooth contact,[1] resulting in loss of tooth tissue, usually starting at the incisal or occlusal surfaces. Tooth wear is a physiological process and is commonly seen as a normal part of aging. Advanced and excessive wear and tooth surface loss can be defined as pathological in nature, requiring intervention by a dental practitioner. The pathological wear of the tooth surface can be caused by bruxism, which is clenching and grinding of the teeth. If the attrition is severe, the enamel can be completely worn away leaving underlying dentin exposed, resulting in an increased risk of dental caries and dentin hypersensitivity. It is best to identify pathological attrition at an early stage to prevent unnecessary loss of tooth structure as enamel does not regenerate Prevention[edit] Patient Wearing Occlusal Splint When a diagnosis of bruxism has been confirmed, it is recommended that the patient buy a full-coverage acrylic occlusal splint, such as a Michigan Splint or Tanner appliance, to prevent further bruxism. Patients must be monitored closely, with clinical photographs 6–12 monthly to evaluate if the tooth surface loss is being prevented. Treatment[edit] Cosmetic or functional intervention may be required if tooth surface loss is pathological or if there has been advanced loss of tooth structure.[18] The first stage of treatment involves managing any associated conditions, such as fractured teeth or sharp cusps or incisal edges. These can be resolved by restoring and polishing sharp cusps. Then, desensitizing agents such as topical fluoride varnishes can be applied, and at home desensitising toothpastes recommended. Many restorative options have been proposed, such as direct composite restorations, bonded cast metal restorations, removable partial dentures, orthodontic treatment, crown lengthening procedures and protective splints.[18] The decision to restore the dentition depends on the wants and needs of the patient, the severity of tooth surface loss and whether tooth surface loss is active.[16] The use of adhesive materials to replace lost tooth structure can be performed as a conservative and cost-effective approach before a more permanent solution of crowns or veneers is considered.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry primarily involves improving a person's smile and facial appearance. It could involve the teeth, gums, cheeks, lips, or the bite of the patient. Accordingly, a change can be produced in the color, position, size or shape of the teeth, alignment of the teeth, contouring of the smile, etc. The end result is always a better facial appearance and improved confidence level of the patient.

Some common examples of cosmetic dentistry include:

  • Teeth whitening: There are very few people who are happy with the color of their teeth. Everybody wants whiter teeth and therefore go for options like bleaching. This can be done either in the dental office or done at home. A word of caution though - go for teeth whitening only after the consultation with a dentist.
  • Veneers, crowns: Just as the color of the teeth, the shape of the teeth also leaves a lot to be desired for almost everybody. Veneers are applied on the teeth after removing a thin layer of tooth structure. Minor reshaping and contouring of the tooth can also be done, especially to improve appearance in the front teeth.
  • Tooth contouring/shaping: The edges of the teeth can be smoothened by mere shaping or contouring. There is no extra material that is added to the tooth here. In some cases, a thin layer of resin may be bonded to the tooth if required.
  • Bridges: In cases the adjacent teeth shape, size, or color mismatch, then bridges can be done to even out the difference and produce a more corrected appearance.
  • Braces: Braces are a big hit as they help correct misaligned teeth. However, the next step with invisible braces and ceramic braces is another step towards moving away from the traditional metal braces, which itself was not cosmetically received.
  • Onlays and Inlays: Improper tooth shapes can be corrected with parts of the teeth that either replace only a small decayed portion or the entire crown portion to produce a more pleasing effect.
  • Implants: Though fixed bridges do a very good job at replacing lost teeth, implants go to the next level in terms of the aesthetic replacement.
  • Gingivoplasty: In cases where the gums have black spots, are too short, or are too long, the gums can be shaped to provide a better teeth visibility. The gums can also be sculpted to produce a more appealing gum line that shows off the teeth to give a more harmonious smile.
  • Bite correction: In addition to braces, in some cases, bite correction may be required to smoothen out a sharp cusp or reduce the prominence of the canine.

With a number of corrections possible, cosmetic dentistry is here to stay - just as the drive to look good.

Avoid using your teeth for anything other than chewing food. If you use them to crack nuts, remove bottle tops or rip open packaging, you risk chipping or even breaking your teeth.

If the sensitivity is so severe that you can not eat even after using sensitivity toothpaste, that means the dentinal tubules should be blocked mechanically by a dentist. You need to consult a dentist, after examining the condition of your teeth, the sensitivity problem can be resolved.
