Multiple freckles on exposed area are common in people with fairer skin and is nothing to worry about but increase in number of freckles on unexposed sites needs a proper examination. A systemic illness can give rise to freckles on unexposed area. I want to confirm your past history of any diseasse or you underwent any surgical procedure in the past.

How are birthmarks usually treated?

MBBS, Diploma in Venerology & Dermatology (DVD)
Dermatologist, Delhi
How are birthmarks usually treated?

Birthmarks are dark spots/blemishes that are present at birth or appear soon after. Most of them are harmless and while some disappear with time, some don't. Birthmarks may cause a person to be conscious of their appearance and some types of marks may even pose health problems. You can opt for birthmark removal for cosmetic or health reasons.

Types of birthmarks

The two major types of birthmarks are vascular birthmarks, which are caused due to the incorrect formation of blood vessels; and pigmented birthmarks that are caused due to an overgrowth of pigmentation cells.

Common vascular birthmarks are 3 types:

- Haemangiomas: Bright red or bluish marks that may appear above or below the skin's surface.
- Port-wine stains: They are discolorations found mainly on the neck, face arms or legs, which look like wine was spilled on that area of the body.
- Macular stains: These are faint red marks often found on the forehead, eyelids, nape of the neck, nose or the upper lip.

Pigmented birthmarks are generally of 3 types- Cafe-au-lait spots, which are common coffee colored spots; Mongolian spots that are flat, bluish-gray patches on the lower back or buttocks; and moles that may be tan or black, flat or raised and may have hair growing out of them. Moles may develop into skin cancer.

So, in cases where a birthmark can be potentially fatal for your health, it's best to get it removed.

Here are the different ways you can choose from if you intend to get your birthmark removed.

1. Laser surgery - It's a widely popular birthmark procedure, especially for port-wine stains. A yellow light laser, called flashlamp pumped a dye laser, is commonly used for treating and removing birthmarks in children. Haemangiomas are generally treated with a pulsed eye laser when they start to grow in size and become thicker than before.

2. Surgery - Surgical excision can help remove a birthmark and minimize the resulting scar. Mongolian birthmarks, port-wine stains, and haemangiomas can be treated with surgery.

3. Cryosurgery and Electrodessication - Cryosurgery is the application of extreme cold to the affected area to destroy the diseased tissue. Electrodessication refers to the destruction of tissues by dehydration induced by a high-frequency electric current.

'Consult'.

Hello, loose and thin skin is a genetic problem. There is no permanent solution to make your skin thicker. You can make your skin tight but it will always remain sensitive. Do the following: use a mild facewash like skin Dr. Dermapolish face wash. Or you can also use cetaphil. Afterwards, moisturise your face with efaderm cream. Wunder under eye cream to be applied nicely under the eyes. Repeat this twice a day and you will see improvement in a week or two. For dark spots, you may use mederma on the affected areas everyday. Dark spots will take more time.

Cocoa butter is famous for its anti-wrinkling and anti-aging properties. It helps in enhancing the blood circulation, which reduces stretch marks. Massage the affected area with cocoa butter at least two times a day. Repeat the process for two months and notice the reduced scars. Else, mix half cup of cocoa butter with one tablespoon of wheat germ oil, one teaspoon of tea kernel oil, two teaspoons of grated beeswax, and vitamin E oil. Heat the mix until the beeswax melts. Apply it on the stretch marks twice or thrice a day. The mixture can be stored in a sealed box in the refrigerator.------------------------------. Physical Exercise One must regularly do physical exercises, like abdominal crunches, sit-ups, swimming, etc. Which tone the underlying muscles and remove the ugly stretch marks. Hello everyone. After chickenpox it is better to wait and watch for healing in natural way. You should use sunscreen in morning and good moisturiser in night. You can even apply coconut oil for one hour before taking bath. Apply calamine lotion if any parts are itching.

do let me know if you also have blackheads? and what current medications and remedies you already tried to treat acne? acne is a common problem in teen. Almost everybody will get pimples during their teen years. First, don't try to self treat acne. Some popular nonprescription acne lotions, cleansers and other skin products can cause a serious reaction (rare), mostly it is normal to have acne in teenage. For pimples it's important to wash your face twice daily to remove impurities, dead skin cells, and extra oil from your skin's surface, avoid touching your face or propping your cheek or chin on your hands. Not only can you spread bacteria, you can also irritate the already inflamed facial skin. Never pick or pop pimples with your fingers, as it can lead to infection and scarring. A dietary therapy with the right medications for pimples can also help a lot. Kojic acid (a natural skin lightener derived from mushroom extract), arbutin (also called bearberry extract), and vitamin c (ascorbic acid) are great alternative ingredients to lighten scars left by acne. Don't use vitamin e on scars. You may have heard that applying vitamin e to a scar will help it heal faster. But according to a study, applying the nutrient directly onto a scar can actually hinder its healing. In the study, vitamin e either had no effect or made matters worse for 90% of the patients, and 33% who put vitamin e on the skin developed a contact dermatitis. Increasing the intake of omega-3 fatty acids through a diet significantly rich in fish and seafood results in lower rates of an inflammatory disease like acne. A low-glycemic-index diet also reduces acne risk. I being a both a registered dietitian (rd) and doctor have been successfully helping patients with their problems through a holistic approach using customized therapeutic diet and medications. I will also suggest home remedies. Do reply back for private consultation for rx.

Hello lybrate-user, it may be eczema or chronic urticaria. Everyone has a unique skin. There’s more than one kind of dermatitis – and there’s more than one way of treating it. Whether your skin feels itchy, irritated or dry, it’s important to understand your dermatitis – no matter the type as it is a chronic condition and has many causes from reactions to previously harmless substances through to stress or genetics. There are a few things that you can do at home to prevent dermatitis from spreading. Do not scratch. Cut your nails short, and file them smooth. Or you may wear gloves if this helps keep you from scratching. Wash the area with water only. Pat dry. Put cold, wet cloths on the rash to reduce itching. Keep cool, and stay out of the sun. Leave the rash open to the air as much as possible. The patient with dermatitis should put lotions and creams in a liberal way to prevent itching and further infection to spread. The type of lotion best for your skin type can only be suggested to you after a complete history and physical examination of the lesion. These lubricants or creams should be applied to the skin immediately after bathing and then multiple times in a day. Prescribed ointments may be preferred for nighttime use because of their superior hydrating properties. Wearing cotton gloves or socks at night may enhance these properties. No matter whether you call it dermatitis or eczema, inflamed and itchy skin is a nasty thing to have to deal with. Ease your mind and the itch by visiting your nearest dermatologist.

Since yours is an operated prostate, chances are that urinary symptoms are due to bladder dysfunction. But, this situation is not entirely untreatable. You need tolook for infection by doing urine-R; Rule out poor emptying of bladder by checking the bladder by ultrasound aftet patient has passed urine. Most of the urologist are able to instirute some medicinal treatment under the situation. If not 100% relief, the patient is likely to get reasonble degree of relief.
