I want to know the symptoms of depression. I am stressed a lot and sometimes feel that its better to die. But because I am a fighter, I compose myself and face the problem. Sometimes even small issue triggers the stress levels and I feel life to be useless. Kindly guide. Thanks.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
I want to know the symptoms of depression. I am stressed a lot and sometimes feel that its better to die. But because...
•Depression is a major public health problem as a leading predictor of functional disability and mortality. •Optimal depression treatment improves outcome for most patients. •Most adults with clinical significant depression never see a mental health professional but they often see a primary care physician. •A non–psychiatric physician 50% of times misses the diagnosis of the depression. •All depressed patients must be enquired specifically about suicidal ideations. •Suicidal ideation is a medical emergency •Risk factors for suicide are psychiatric known disorders, medical illness, prior history of suicidal attempts or family history of attempted suicide. •The demographic reasons include older age, male gender, marital status (widowed or separated) and living alone. •About 1 million people commit suicide every year globally. •Around 79% of patients who commit suicide contact their primary care provider in the last one year before their death and only one-third contact their mental health service provider. •Twice as many suicidal victims had contacted their primary care provider as against the mental health provider in the last month before suicide. •The risk of suicide increases with increase in age; however, young adults and adolescents attempt suicide more than the older. •Females attempt suicide more frequently than males but males are successful three times more often. •The highest suicidal rate is amongst those individuals who are unmarried followed by those who are widowed, separated, divorced, married without children and married with children in descending order. •Living alone increases the risk of suicide. •Unemployed and unskilled patients are at higher risk of suicide than those who are employed. •A recent sense of failure may lead to higher risk. •Clinicians are at higher risk of suicide. •Major risk for suicidal attempts is in psychiatric disorder, hopelessness and prior suicidal attempts or threats. High impulsivity or alcohol or other substance abuse increase the risk.

Hi. Dark circles can be temporary (means happens after any recent or chronic diseases or underlying medical condition, insufficient sleep, nutritional deificiency, working long hrs. on computer, lack of rest, stress/ tension, etc.) which can be improved by fixing the underlying cause or the problem or can be inherited from your parent's genes which can't be treated or cured! Management: Eat healthy and on time. Avoid junk. Drink plenty of water (as dehydration can cause dull or patchy skin). Sleep well. Wear anti-glare spectacles while working on computer. Reduce your stress/ tension through yoga, meditation or any other excercises (it not only improves your blood circulation, but also reduces the production of stress hormones by the body as well as increases happy hormones in the body). Use sunglasses regularly and not to forget to apply a thick layer of Bakson's Suncare Sunscreen liberally, 20-30 minutes before stepping out in the sun and apply the same again after 3-4 hours if you have exposure to sunlight for long hours. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Cina 1M/ one dose daily at night for 10 days. Schwabe's Alfalafa Tonic/ 1 tsp thrice a day daily for 20 days and revert me back about the condition. Apply Bakson's Under Eye Cream twice daily (in morning and at night) and Medicynth's Whitch Hazel cream and Bakson's Under Eye cream twice - in morning and at night daily. May be, you are getting apprehensive and nervous for going abroad. Relax, take good sleep. All the best for your future!

Hi lybrate-user if you have fungal infection, then it won't go with shaving etc. Its better to consult a qualified dermatologist in your city, as you have developed blisters, it is probably contact dermatitis its better to avoid intercourse during this time.

Melasma can only be treated and curing it is very difficult. Try to avoid sun exposure and use a good moisturiser and sunscreen. Take good sleep and be hydrated. Have enough fruits and salads in your meal. Almonds and walnuts soaked in water will help you for the essential oils. Do you smoke or drink?- if yes, you should stop that because these things harm our skin.

These are the methods to treat fastly pimples & marks: Imbalance in hormone level causes excessive sebum production and causes acne. So do not take stress and do exercise daily such as running, jogging and long breathing exercises. Do YOGASANA daily. Especially do SINHASANA & SARVANGASANA daily. Use oil free face wash and drink 7 -8 glass of water daily. Do not touch your pimple because your finger transfer bacteria to it and make it worse. If you touch it then clean your face with water. Take cucumber and papaya pulp. Mix it well and add 1 tablespoon Turmeric. Make a paste and apply it on face and leave it for 15 minutes. Steam your face to open the pores, which in turn clear the skin. Steam your face for a couple of minutes. Take 2 teaspoon of RAKTASHODAK SYRUP of BAIDYANATH company once a day.

5 Tips to Treat Oily Skin

MBBS, MD - Dermatology , Venereology & Leprosy
Dermatologist, Amritsar
5 Tips to Treat Oily Skin

We all have different skin types. While some have dry skin, others have oily. So if you have oily skin, then here are 5 tips to keep in mind, to keep your skin oil free. Oily skin is usually a constant problem in every season since even after washing the face properly it becomes very oily after some time. And, if some cosmetic is applied, then also it makes no difference, the skin remains as oily as ever. Now dermatologists offer various solutions to this problem.  Even though you might come across home remedies like the sugar and lime scrub or yogurt, turmeric paste, it is always better to seek professional help for oily skin.

There are mainly 5 skin types:

  1. Oily:  This skin type has too much oil, which can be seen on the face even after cleaning it.
  2. Dry: The dry skin lacks essential moisture and looks very dry.
  3. Normal: The normal type of skin is neither dry, nor too oily and not too sensitive also.
  4. Sensitive: Sensitive type skin is very sensitive and is easily affected by weather changes or any other factor.
  5. Combination skin: Combination skin is, in which some parts of facial skin are dry and others are oily. Use non comedogenic and powder based cosmetics.

Here we are going to deal with the oily skin type and its treatment. Oily skin appears to be greasy and teenagers often face the problem of oily skin during their puberty. Oily skin can also be caused due to heredity, diet, hormone levels, cosmetics usage and humid or hot weather. According to dermatologists, diet plays an important role behind oily skin. Consuming oily or fried food or having too much oil in your diet can be the reason behind your oily skin. Weather can also make your skin oily. Humidity especially causes the oil to come out of the pores and give your face a greasy look.

Tips to treat oily skin:

  1. Use a gentle face wash or cleanser and reduce the use of toner: Use a gentle face wash to wash your face at least twice a day to reduce the oil levels.  Also reduce the use of toner, and if you use toner then try using an alcohol free one.
  2. Keep yourself hydrated: Keeping yourself hydrated is very important as the face starts releasing oils if the skin is not hydrated properly.
  3. Try the home remedies carefully: You might not know the exact concentration of lemon in a sugar lemon scrub, as excess of lemon can cause allergic reactions. So apply home remedies with discretion.
  4. Use the cosmetics according to your skin type: Cosmetics are very important for a woman and if your skin is oily, it's better to choose non comedogenic and powder based cosmetics
  5. Consult a dermatologist for quick solution: We all know that a doctor knows the best cures to all our ailments, so try consulting your dermatologist for a quick solution to your problem of oily skin.

I have deep blackheads on my face and beside my nose in both sides. What should I do?
Hi. Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Use Bakson's Apricot scrub at least once a week.
