I smoke cigarettes oftenly. But I cough out saliva almost daily many times. I don't use to spit out that before even I smoked. Is it that I have been smoking now for almost 4 years. Please suggest me to avoid that spitting and advice me some good diet to increase my stamina even I am smoking.

General Physician,
STOP SMOKING Best age to stop smoking is before 40, In fact do not start all Only by using strong will power and avoiding all situations where you feel like smoking, chewing tobacco or drinking or using drugs/ weed, avoiding friends who smoke and diverting mind by reading or chewing a gum, like NICORETTE and taking a walk when you crave for a smoke can all help. You can chew Nicorette gum which is nicotine replacement. There are medicines available. Which can be prescribed if asked personally Cigarette smoking is a leading preventable cause of mortality. It kills more than 60 lakh people worldwide every year. More than 50% of regular smokers would invariably die from tobacco-related illnesses which includes heart attack, cancer or asthmatic lung diseases. Best age to stop smoking is before 40 31st May is “World No Tobacco Day” Quitting smoking before the age of 40 is associated with larger decline in premature death than stopping it at a later date. Best age therefore to stop smoking is before 40. However, stopping smoking even after the age of 50 is still associated with lower risk of death as compared to those who continue to smoke. Even in smokers aged 80 years or more, quitting smoking appears to reduce some mortality.

I am 36 years old unmarried girl. I am having depression, anxiety and stress from last 9 yrs. I feel lethargic all the time. When I wake up in morning after 6-7 hours sleep, I feel lethargic. I sleep for 1 hour after taking tea in morning. After that I do breathing exercise to relax my body and mind. I do meditation for 15-30 mins also. After breathing exercise I feel relaxed and at ease. Is this normal to feel lethargic in morning? I am having lethargy due to depression or stress or lack of sleep or due to poor blood circulation or lack of oxygen in my body? How can I know the reason of having lethargy? Please give me advice.

Feeling worse in the morning is one of the hallmarks of depression. I would strongly recommend you to see a psychiatrist. 9 years of stress is a long period and will have (if not already) impact on your heart and brain also. If you do not want to take medicines, psychotherapy can be done. But I really think it is high time you did something about this.

From the last 6 days, I have been facing breathing issues. It has become hard to breathe like the shortness of breath or like I have a feeling I can't breathe and this happens the most when I wear a t-shirt which is tight on the chest, sit on a chair, stand and it becomes normal when I move, do something, lie in the bed, eat. Once in a day I feel a pinch pain on left chest as well but that is not the major one. I don't smoke, not much exposed to air pollution. Are these the symptoms of COPD? I have been suffering from anxiety, stress, career pressure etc. Are the above symptoms related to the on-going anxiety? In 2013, almost 2.5 years ago, I took 70 tablets of clenbuterol by Asia Pharma over a period of 2 months for its unofficial use of reducing weight and during that dosage I had muscle cramps in left chest. Are the above symptoms the side effects of clenbuterol? Can that dosage still have effect on me? How can I ensure that they didn't have effect on me, any test? After leaving clenbuterol I lost the weight more than I expected and my cheeks had sunken and before that I had chubby cheeks. Now I am normal but my cheeks are still sunken. One doctor me to take Alfalfa syrup German in homeopathy to get rid of sunken cheeks, shall I take that? What are the above symptoms all about? COPD or stress or side effect of clenbuterol? How can I ensure that clenbuterol had no effect on me?

Clenbuterol hydrochloride is a powerful bronchodilator that is used to treat breathing disorders like asthma and taking it in 2013 has no effect now and your problem is over anxiety and and you need antidepressant or anxiety medication.

You maybe suffering from generalised anxiety disorder which can mimic other diseases. Tips to reduce anxiety and stress 1. Sleep well and regular. Irregular sleep can have some serious consequences. It affects both our physical health and also contributes to anxiety and stress. Anxiety as such also leads to disruptions in sleep. When feeling anxious, always try to get a full 7 to 9 hours of uninterrupted sleep and it can work wonders to improve your condition. 2. Always keep smiling. Take a quick break in between your hectic work to get some laughs with your friends. Laughter can reduce depression and anxiety and has proven benefits. 3. Tidy up your living space or workspace. Keep your things clean and clutter-free. That helps us think clear and thus reducing levels of anxiety. 4. Say thank you often. Expressing your thanks for something helps reduce anxiety. 5. Eat smart. Eating more of foods which are rich in vitamin b and omega-3 fatty acids and also healthy whole grain carbs. Vitamin b contributes to good mental health. While omega 3 fatty acids help with both depression and anxiety. Whole grain foods boost serotonin and helps us remain poised. Eating high-sugar content food and processed foods can increase levels of anxiety. 6. Learn to breathe well and relax. Short, shallow breaths arise when you are tensed. So consciously breathing deeply, plus increasing the duration and depth of breathing helps relax the body and mind to a great extent. 7. Meditate. Meditation has so many positive effects on stress, mood, and anxiety. Club meditation with positive thinking to improve your general well-being and overall health. Yoga is also very effective to take off stress from the body and mind by deep relaxation and breathing techniques. 8. Chill and be silent. Reduce the noise and clutter talk that contributes to anxiety. Find time for yourself and be alone to muse upon your own matters without anyone disturbing you. 9. Worry. Yes, we can cause ourselves to freak out, but only for a certain amount of time. When something weighs heavily on your mind, or you believe something terrible is most definitely going to occur, commit to only creating that worry for 20 minutes. Think of all the possible outcomes of the scenario, figure out some game plans, and then quit thinking about it after 20 minutes go by. Have a friend call after the allotted time has passed to avoid the temptation of going over the time limit. Or schedule some of that playtime right afterward. 10. Plan for the future but do not worry about it. Make time tables and to-do lists so that you will not be worried about finishing stuff and so that you can increase your productivity. 11. Be positive. When you feel anxious, train your mind to think and feel positive and give reinforcement to yourself that you can handle any situation. This will significantly reduce your stress and anxiety symptoms. 12. Smell relaxing stuff. Go out to your garden. Smell a fresh rose. Take a deep breathe and allow the relaxation to course through your whole body. You can also use relaxing aroma therapy and use it indoors. 13. Go out and spend time with your friends and family. Spend time with your pets social support reduces anxiety and stress to such a great extent that it is almost always bearable. So next time you get on your nerves, go out with your friends, chat with them, watch a movie, spend some time watching the waves in the beach with your partner, talk to your siblings.

When you quit smoking you will put on weight. You need to try again and again until you succeed. It is really good that you want to stop smoking because it is really very harmful. Just the fact that you want to give up smoking is a good starting point. The habit can be very difficult to halt because of the many conditions attached to smoking. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heart beat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine chewing gum or nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here?s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world ? you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. All the damage you incurred earlier because of the smoking can be reverted back to normal in quick time.
