Hii Lump was found in her left breast Immediately mammography was done Later FNAC test was done It was identified breast cancer Surgery was done next day Many inter connected nodes were found so they had completely removed It was told she z n 3rd stage Chemotherapy has to be given fr 6 months So what will be her life span.

MBBS, DNB (Surgical Oncology), MS - General Surgery
Oncologist, Delhi
She will have to complete treatment including chemotherapy, radiation +/- hormonal therapy +/- targeted therapy based on the ER, PR & HER status. Stage III cancers are still curable with a survival around 50 to 60 % at 5 - 10 years. That implies that 50 to 60 % women diagnosed with stage 3 cancer will live beyond 5 to 10 years without recurrence. 50 % might develop recurrence which might still be treatable. So the question of life span even in stage 4 breast cancer is not predictable with latest treatment available.

How to Protect Your Skin from Summer?

How to Protect Your Skin from Summer?

The wretched hot sweltering summers are here. No matter what you seem to do, your skin seems to sweating profusely and spoiling your make up. Those blackheads and pimples seem to appearing form nowhere.

Your hair itches like you haven’t washed it for days even though you washed it yesterday. Your skin seems to get darker day by day, due to the harsh sun. The weather seems to be taking a toll on your skin.

So, what to do now?

Well, I am going to give you some simple tips to take care of your skin, health and hair this summer.

Hence some of the tips to protect you from the harsh sun are:

• Wear an antiperspirant powder and perfume, so that you do not sweat too much and have wet patches on the back of your T-shirt.

• Wear a hat and a scarf every time you got out in the sun, as prevention is better than cure.

• Make sure that you wear a sunscreen every time you go out in the sun.

• Wash your hair thrice a week instead of twice a week to get rid of the sweat that accumulates on your scalp.

• Have a bath after you come from office. In summers, it is better to have a bath thrice a day, to remove the sweat that accumulates on your body and cleanse your skin pores.

• Eat healthy; eat a lot of fruits and salads as they have a cooling effect on your body. Green leafy vegetables, colorful vegetables and fruits help to detoxify your system, keep you healthy and cool.

• Drink a lot of water, Water is the ultimate energy giving drink. Drink lots of water as you sweat a lot during summer, hence, your body needs more water to flush out the toxins.

• Drink coconut water or sugarcane juice, as both the drinks are natural and the best antidote for summer.

• Avoid going out in the sun. Don’t step out of the house between 12 to 4 in the noon as the sun is at its peak temperature during this time.

• Drink a lot of fresh fruit juices and glucose; they will keep you going throughout the day.

• Wear loose cotton clothes like kurtis and leggings.

Hence, these are some of the tips you ought to follow if you want to beat the heat and have a cool summer. Going out for a short vacation might also do the trick of beating the heat!

My face is so oily and I want oil free skin and glow on my face so what can I do for it.

My face is so oily and I want oil free skin and glow on my face so what can I do for it.
Hi. There are four main factors which causes acne: Oil production Dead skin cells Clogged pores Bacteria Factors that may worsen the acne: Androgen hormones, certain medications (drugs containing corticosteroids, androgens or lithium can worsen acne), dietary factors, including dairy products and carbohydrate-rich foods — such as bread, bagels and chips — may trigger acne and Stress can make acne worse. Management: Wash your face with Bakson's Facewash (wash your face with warm water only) and followed by CTMP, i.e., cleansing, toning, moisturising and protection (apply liberally Sunscreen Gel with SPF-30) after washing your face daily. Home-made remedies: - Take 1 tbsp of fuller's earth (multani mitti) + a dash of lime + bit of rosewater – apply this on your face till it gets dried up, then rinse it off. - Take 1 tsp of Alum (or fitkari), make it slightly wet with water and apply this on your wet face, spread it well; let it dry and rinse it off. Alum remove your excessive moisture or oil and it also tightens the skin's tonicity. Medication: You can take homoeopathic medicines – Berberis Aquefolium Q/ 10 drops in 1/2 cup of water/ thrice a day (and for local application as well) and Kali Brom. 200/ thrice a day – for 20 days. Use Bakson's Apricot scrub at least once a week.

Hi, Do you believe in miracles? Its said that even for miracles we have to wait. It cant be wiped out over night, but you can certainly camouflage it. If you are in a hurry, i assume you wish to attend a important event. So, some foundation and concealer will do the trick.

Be patient. Acne improves slowly even with the most powerful treatments from your doctor. Do not expect much improvement in the first few weeks of any treatment. CXonsult a good dermatologist for proper treatment. Do not pick! Discipline yourself not to pick your spots, as this may encourage scarring. Wash carefully. Wash the affected area twice a day with a pH-balanced, unperfumed soap. Avoid facial scrubs and abrasive cleansers, which might increase the inflammation of the skin and make scarring more likely. Avoid heavy and greasy make-up. Oil-free make-up is available in some ranges. Remove it at night with a gentle cleanser before washing. If your acne is all over your face, with lots of blackheads, your make-up might be aggravating the problem, so consider different brands. To disguise an individual spot, use a medicated spot concealer stick or cream a couple of shades lighter than your normal skin tone to counteract any redness. Apply it with a tiny brush to just cover the spot, removing any excess by tapping the area gently with your finger. Do not apply it to a large area or you may make the skin sensitive. Consider a zinc supplement. Chemical peels can be helpful in some cases of acne with many blocked pores, and for acne scars. It is important to seek professional advice if you are considering trying a chemical peel to avoid side effects.

Botox & Its Different Uses!

We have often heard this miracle about stopping the signs of aging and making people of middle age look youthful. Medical science with its inventions and progress is always providing elements of disbelief and executing it to prove the world that scientists and doctors are the gems of the humankind. Botox is one such invention.

Botox is a trademark designation for a highly diluted and refined preparation of botulinum which is a toxin of type A. This is used in numerous cosmetic and medical applications. Botox is most widely known for its use in removing wrinkles.

Botox- How it works

When the recurrence of treatment, the various types of treated clinical conditions and dosage are considered, the toxin Botulinum has been proved to be a productive and relevant curative protein therapy. Botulinum toxin can be inserted into humans in remarkably small concentrations and works by inhibiting signs from the nerve cells moving into the muscles, actually leaving the muscles without directions to contract, hence paralyzing them.

Nerves release a chemical mess discharge called acetylcholine at the terminal where the nerve endings coincide with the muscles. The neurotransmitter connects to receptors on the muscle cells and makes the muscle cells to shorten or contract.

Botulinum toxin helps to limit the discharge of acetylcholine, restricting muscle cell contraction. The impact of botulinum toxin allows the muscles to become less stiff by preventing abnormal muscle contraction.

Medical uses of Botox

Botox is an amazing discovery in the field of medicine. It is beneficial in treating a large number of medical conditions. At present Botulinum toxin is used to treat over more than twenty diverse medical conditions with more treatments under research. Some of the other ailments that can be treated with Botox include a chronic migraine, spasm of the eyelids, overactive bladder, and Idiopathic cervical dystonia where there occur stiff neck and muscle spasms of the shoulder region.

Cosmetic use of Botox

Botulinum toxin is primarily used as a medication to decrease the presence of fine lines and facial wrinkles in seniors. Certified by the Food and Drug Administration of the US, Botox is used in softening out wrinkles in the forehead region reducing crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead lines.

Caution related to Botox

Many people doubt as to how flexible their facial muscles will react post Botox, and a majority think they will be stiff, but this is just a myth. The stiffness of facial expression arises only when the wrong muscle is injected on the face which does not happen in the case of a reputed and recognized medical firm or a practitioner. Botox is safe as long as your physician recommends and is done in safe hands and moderation.
Botox has quite a few uses in the field of medicine.
