There are many causes of most pelvic tilt after thigh and hip fractures. One is weakness of abductor muscles of hip. The other is link length discrepancy (your leg is bit shortened after fracture). There may not be any abnormality and this could be just because you have become habitual walking with pelvic tilt. The treatment actually depends on a cause. You need to visit an orthopaedic surgeon for clinical assessment.

My wife suffering from knee pain at night. What may be the reason?

Kindly show me digital x rays of affected part (knee) rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful use no pillow under the head. Do hot fomantation. Ibuprofen 200mg od & sos x 5days bio d3 max 1tab od x10 do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Hi = relax and stay positive. = increase fluid intake. = eat seasonal fruits for natural vitamins = do streching of hamstring, quadriceps, and calf muscles. = if you are overweight, reduce weight by cycling or swimming as it gives low impact on joints. = do check your calcium and vit. D = apply moist heat pad to affected joint and muscles. If still you dont get relief consult physiotherapist as there are various causes for leg/ joint pain and some test may be required for further investigation. Best wishes.

You should change your posture in routine which can be achieved by 1- change your chair 2- change your pillow 3- if possible, the bed or at least quilt should be changed some light exercises and investigations (x-ray, mri etc) after follow up then medicines. Regards.

I have been diagonised with slip disc at l5 s1 and been advised root block therapy, can anyone advise if ts effective?

: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

you have to check your uric acid level. try ice packs and simple stretching exercises and if they dont help then you will need an ortho consultation

Dear Lybrate user, Take care of your diet first. Do not take rice cold drinks coffee Linda etc. Sweets you must avoid. Do massage daily of your calf muscles at night with seasame oil. Take vitamin D daily with calcium. Also rake echo sprain daily one tablet.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You are very young to have a persistent neck pain as a health issue. If you have localized neck pain with no other symptoms like radiating upper limb pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your neck while working and sleeping and especially observing precautions of neck ergonomics - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. We will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like dynamic x rays of neck and few blood tests for evaluation. I am 39 years old male, I had minor compression fracture at (D12) spine and LS disc bulge. I have met with bike accident on may 2014, still then and there I have pain and I got this health issue diagnosed only by Feb 2015. What are the things to do and not to do to get relived from back pain. I have pains radiated throughout my buds and left leg also. Hi I can understand your problem. # relax & stay positive. # take hot and cold foementation. # learn posture care exercise. # use lumber support. # take break every 20 minutes. # do strengthening exercise of back and core muscles not all back pains are same.

: L3, 4, 5 and S1 intervertebral discs are degenerated and L4-5 shows posterolateral forminal disc protrusion which has compromised lateral neural canal. Prolonged sitting and jerky rides do not suit me. What should I do to get back my normal life and resume work. Is riding a bicycle good for me. I don't know swimming. Pls advise. Thanks.

Do the cat/cow stretch. Get on all fours, with your arms straight and your hands directly under your shoulders; your knees hip-width apart.

Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain. Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day.
