Neck advice hot fomentation x twice daily. Neck exercises. Neck stretching. Postural correction. Shoulder shrugs. Core strengthening exercises. Take frequent breaks at work use cervical pillow. Use back support. Self massage the back of neck. Shoulder advice. Regular stretching of shoulder muscles. Warm up and cool down is a must. Hot fomentation.

Back Ache: Herbal And Home Remedies for it!

In our fast paced life, a wrong bend or an incorrect posture is quick to trigger a back ache. It can also occur because of reasons like arthritis, improper diet, lack of physical activity, an improper lifting of a heavy object, excessive physical labour or pregnancy. Most white collared professionals are a victim of a sedentary lifestyle where they spend hours on end sitting in the same position. In fact prolonged sitting is also a cause for weight gain, obesity, joint problems, poor health and even premature death.

Our instant reaction is to take a painkiller and get relief from a back ache. But painkillers often come with unwanted side effects and it is best not to take them unless prescribed by a physician. Some of the commonly prescribed painkillers in the market increase your risk to a heart attack by 2 to 4 times, cause cardiovascular problems, gastrointestinal problems, like digestive tract bleeding and even kidney problems. Instead, back ache has several home remedies that can wonders. It will require a little patience but the zero side effect factor and long term relief will eventually be great for you. 

Try these herbal and home remedies for backache: 

  1. Internal and external pain relief with Ginger: Ginger has anti-inflammatory compounds that can work well for pain relief. You can start by making Ginger tea. To do this, add 2-3 slices of ginger in half cup boiling water and simmer it for 10 - 15 minutes. You can add honey and drink it 2-3 times a day. You can also add half tea spoon crushed peppercorns and 2-3 cloves to this tea. Adding a dash of black salt helps in improving the taste.
  2. Harness the power of Basil: Add 10 Basil leaves to a boiling cup of water and continue to boil it until it reduces to half. You can add a dash of salt to this and drink it through the day.
  3. Home remedies with exercise: Not only should you stretch between long sitting hours, you should also get some back exercise suggested by a physical trainer with expertise in the field.
  4. Trigger your inner healing by releasing endorphins: Endorphins act as a pain blocking mechanism in the body and doing certain activities you like can help release them. From walking for 20 minutes to aerobics, to yoga to meditation to chiropractic care, you can try whatever makes you happy and calm to trigger your inner healing.
  5. Garlic: These tiny cloves healing powers are well known for a variety of body ailments including blood pressure. Taking a couple of cloves early in the morning on empty stomach or massaging with garlic oil helps relieve back ache. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult an ayurveda.

My femur broken in an accident 3 month ago, what can I do for making it strong. Please help.

Once the plaster is out, the orthopedic allows partial or full wt bearing on the affected limb depending upon th severity of the fracture and the type of surgery done. Also stretching and strengthening exercises are to be started as soon as possible. Kindly start physiotherapy at the earliest to avoid weakness and wasting.

My back is paining since last 2 weeks earlier I got catch in back in year 2013 after some treatments it got recovered but not fully after some days it is started paining again. So 1 Dr. Suggested me for MRI in MRI found some abnormalities. Now I can not in some positions some Dr. Said this is slip disk some are say bulge issues some suggested only for stretching exercise but still pain is there after all such practices.

Mr. lybrate-user If you have got your MRI done and if it is diagnosed that you are having disc bulge then stertching exercises alone will not work, along with stretching exercises you will have to learn the core strengthening exercises & if possible then I would suggest you to go to a physiotherapist who has specialization in manual therapy as manual therapy will help in stretching your muscles which have gone into shortening position, will help in decompression of your disc that is causing you pain and stregthening of your spine supporting muscles which is the main thing so that you do not have this kind of replase again and again. Exercises that you will learn you will have to do everyday.

Very! Urgent, Hi sir, my mom was accident on Sunday today is 4th day, she have head injured that is DAI, left leg fractured, she is unconscious. In this case can we have go to for surgery? Dr. said if your not go to surgery your mother leg was completely removed. So kindly advise as soon as possible.

if she has a closed fracture with no evidence of blood vessel injury then the fracture fixation is not urgent. But if she has any open wounds in the leg with the fracture (open fracture) then she should have it operated to reduce the risk of infection. But if it had been an open fracture they would have dealt with it sooner. kindly upload the xrays. Diffuse axonal injury of the brain is a severe injury.

Dear you can follow these methods for relief from Backache(back pain): * First correct your sitting posture. Do not bend your lower back.You can use lumber belt for support. * Do regular back strength exercises.Move your clockwise and anticlock wise. * Do not sleep on very soft bed ,sleep on slight hard cotton mattress. * Do Tadasana and Bhjangasana for back strengthening.If you can not understand these asans you can consult me. * Take calcium rich diet and calcium and vitamin D supplements regularly. *Do not Take any heavy weight or heavy work. * If you are over weight then follow a good and effective diet plan to loose some kilos of weight. Hello. Take homoeopathic medicine rhus toxicodendron 30 (3 drops four times a day) kali phosphoricum 6x (5 tablets three times a day) take them hor 10 days. Take them one hr after meal. Make a gap of 15 mins between above medicines. Update me after that for follow up. Good luck in life.

Sir I am 61 yrs. Recently a month back fell down enroute fetching milk. I fell on my left shoulder and the entire body weight fell on my left shoulder. I consulted physios and not underwent therapy for 10 days, but my pain has not reduced and I cannot move my left shoulder freely. Please advise.

Hello sir, this is Dr. Hitin mathur from new delhi, welcome to lybrate. With regards to your shoulder, did you get an x ray done, if not get an x ray shoulder ap and a axial views. You may have a fracture. If there is no fracture and you still can't actively lift the arm, then there may be torn rotator cuff muscles. An mri of the shoulder will help in finding that out. Revert back with the investigations.

Dear lybrate-user, This sounds like unwanted vaata in your joints and body. Please take 30 ml castor oil in the morning with plenty of hot water. It will flush out the toxins in your system as well as a lot of un wanted vaata.
