Sir, i have back left lumber spin pain since 2 months. unable to stand/sit more than 3 hours. no pain while sleeping. mri scan report is" bulging disc with broad central left paracentral protrusion at l5-s1 level narrowing spinal canal, left lateral recess, indending the the cal sac, bilateral moderate inferior neural foraminal compromise & slightly indenting the traversing nerve roots on lest side. is it must to go for surgery, can it recovered with physiotherapy?

Apply Hot Fomentation twice daily. \nAvoid bending in front. \nPostural Correction- Sit Tall, Walk Tall. Extension Exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times. Bhujang Asana ? Lie flat on your stomach, keeping the palms out, bend the neck backward, take a deep breath and while holding it for 6 seconds, raise the chest up. Release breath and relax your body. . If you keep ice that would help to reduce the pain and feel relaxed and comfortable. You shall also do hot water fermentation that would improve the blood circulation to the painful area and thereby the pain would be reduced.

There are many conditions that can cause knee pain. - ice is useful for the control of pain and swelling. It can be applied to the knee for 15 to 20 minutes as often as every two to four hours. The swollen knee should be elevated above the level of the heart while icing. -activities that cause pain should be avoided temporarily. -if the knee is swollen or sore, the following positions and activities should be avoided until knee pain and swelling resolve: squatting kneeling twisting and pivoting jogging aerobics, dancing playing sport you need detail assessment with a physiotherapist to find out what causing you this pain. Generalised body pain and neck pain could be due to problems with muscles, or arthritis, fibromyalgia, thyroid problems and due to defeciencies like vit d and b12. Incorporate a balanced diet along with exposure to sunlight in early morning and mild exercises like walking or aerobics. Maintaing proper posture is also essential. If it persists visit a physician who may order blood tests to rule out certain conditions.

My friend got the report conclusion as below: - Mild broad posterior, right far lateral disc protrusions at L4-L5 level - Moderate right paracentral extrusion of disc material and bilateral facetal arthrosis at L5-S1 level. Is surgery required and what is the best solution for complete recovery. Currently he finds his right leg losing its strenght. Currently he is 41 years of age. Please help.

Your friend has a disc prolapse at 2 levels L4-L5 and L5-S1 levels which is compressing the nerves supplying the legs, which is the cause of his pain. Initially nonsurgical treatment in the form of medications and spine exercises should be tried which relives symptoms in most cases. However if symptoms persist, become worse or reccur, surgery is warranted. In a snall percentage of people, If there is loss of urinary or bowel control then surgery becomes an emergency.
