Good evening Actually my mother knees r paining highly Wat is the immediate to recover.
As arthritis is very common that you get generally bilaterally. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. We also suggest people with knee pain to use mcr chappals which would reduce the inflammation of the damaged/inflammed cartilages you can take ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to improve the blood circulation.

My mother suffering rheumatic pains since 20 years. What is the solution ?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist,
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. If these pain are due to an underlying inflammatory joint disease like rheumatoid arthritis or any such similar disease, then it will be best for her to be seen by a rheumatologist for evaluation and opinion. If there is no such association, then you can actually send to me her investigation reports so that I can have a look and advise accordingly. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards

Dear lybrate-user, namaskar, you must do some sort of physical exercises in the morning or evening. Say for about 45 minutes. Also learn meditation. You should try to concentrate with deliberation on your respiration when you go to bed. Once you are trained. Your problem will go away. Take care.

After effects of head injury are not uncommon. The memory loss during your head injury was due to post traumatic amnesia. You do not have to worry about that.

My mom have leg pain in last 2 years. We show this problem to physician but it till is pain.
Keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Hello sir/Mem, My back bone are very painful in last 2-3 month. Please best suggestion shortly.

Erasmus Mundus Master in Adapted Physical Activity, MPT, BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Chennai
Hello sir/Mem,
My back bone are very painful in last 2-3 month.
Please best suggestion shortly.
It looks like you are anaemic. If you have back pain after you sit for long hours then it is due to your haemoglobin levels as it is important to check that. Anaemia always leads to the symptoms of being tired and also having back / leg pain though there may not be any pathological reasons for back pain. The lower end of the vertebral column is inflamed and that bone is called coccyx bone and the condition is called Coccydynia. The conservative management would be to keep ice in that inflamed area during one time in a day and also to sit in a hot water bowl where the penetration of the heat would help to reduce the inflammation. And to reduce the weight falling on the inflammed surface we suggest patients to use air cushion pillow (also called as doughnut pillow) where in the buttock's weight will not fall exactly on the painful tail bone and that would automatically reduce the pain.

Dear lybrate-user, Your father is using steroids (formonide) for a long time 8 years and exposure to steroid medications have major effects on the metabolism of calcium, vitamin D and bone. This can lead to bone loss, osteoporosis, and broken bones. When steroid medications are used in high doses, bone loss can happen rapidly, Suffering from cervical spondylosis can be due to the formonide use. Try to visit your chest physician and have detailed check up. Home precautions: 1. Donot use a pillow 2. Not to bend a lot 3. Avoid fast moving on either side 4.Use ice pack to relieve pain with any analgesic ointment (which ever is available at home) 5. Cervical collar is must and take a gud quality and give a proper measurement so that neck is supported properly, never use when he is sleeping or taking rest. 6. For nausea and chakkar there are lot of medications but the dosage depends upon the intensity your father is having and its calibrated after physical examination. 7. Use of multivitamins and calcium can lower the damage.
