Up in the morning with a swollen right upper eyelid and cheeks on right side only. No pain or discomfort in the eye. Went to a doc he gave me the following Ivepred, LCZ, Topicid and asked to avoid sunlight. I have never had this no asthma what could this be? Some home remedies he suggested none. I had home cooked fish last night and I hv had that before. Could it be a good allergy I also had sprouts. I have never reacted to fish I also got henna done in my hair though not the first time yesterday!

Hi, I suggest, first and foremost you figure out the allergen (s) that triggers your asthma. Dust, smoke, pollen, fungi, animal hair, insects, certain food items like wheat, egg, chocolates, flesh foods etc, cold/ hot air, stress, acidity et al are common allergens that might precipitate asthma and the triggers vary from person to person. Do you have any other triggers apart from dust-mites? so, once you identify all the right trigger (s), try your level best to avoid the same. Simultaneously, make sure your diet/ nutrition, lifestyle including bowel habits et al are streamlined. Learn to relax and keep your stress levels low. Its advisable to eat in moderation and less than your full capacity than eating to your full. Try avoiding tea, coffee, spices, chillies, pickles, extremely hot & cold/ chilled foods for they cause acidity and trigger asthma in some. Do consume citrus fruits/ vegetables rich in vit c as they help strengthen your immunity. Warm saline gargling, at least once daily, shall help protect you from throat related afflictions that often trigger asthma in certain people. Mostly, fresh air, dry climate, regular exercise go a long way in helping avert precipitation of an attack. Daily consumption of ginger-tulsi tea helps a lot too, unless you have reservations. Similarly, freshly ground turmeric taken along with honey and black pepper helps control allergies and inflammations systemically. Inhaling the scent of honey during an asthma attack also helps breathe easier. Learning well & practicing yogasanas/ postures and breathing techniques/ pranayams help streamline/ regulate breathing patterns, and increase the airflow to the lungs, increases its air capacity, exercises the respiratory muscles etc, thereby improving the lung function overall. It also helps de-stress and relax thereby facilitating breathe easily, and properly. It is advisable to learn the techniques/ asanas from a trained person who can advise rightly in line with your medical conditions/ requirements. Hope this helps. You may connect with me in private to discuss and come up with a well-researched, integrated and holistic naturopathic treatment plan/ prescription that suits you in particular and gives you a long lasting relief from your chronic ailment (s).

Seasonal Allergies - How Homeopathy Can Help You Treat it?

Seasonal Allergies - How Homeopathy Can Help You Treat it?

Seasonal allergies like rhinitis and hay fever strike lacs worldwide. But what’s worse is that conventional treatments just don’t work on these allergies. So what does? Homeopathy, a complementary system of healing that works on the adage ‘like cures like’, is the perfect remedy for most seasonal allergies.

Homeopathy is also the best medicine for these allergies because it’s inexpensive and it works every time- especially if you have consulted a qualified homeopath who prescribes medicines according to your individual constitution.

The other advantages of homeopathy are that it’s safe, foolproof, and real, apart from being extremely economical.

One of the most common seasonal allergies that people grapple with worldwide is seasonal allergic rhinitis, more commonly known as hay fever. This allergy occurs when your immune system treats usually harmless substances like pollen and certain grasses as dangerous and releases chemicals to fight them. Hay fever can be triggered by different substances in different seasons and you can experience it in more than one season per year.

Whatever the season, its symptoms remain the same, like-

  1. sneezing

  2. runny nose

  3. watery and itchy eyes

  4. itchy throat and sinuses

  5. ear congestion

  6. headaches

  7. coughing

Here are a few common homeopathic remedies for seasonal allergies. Just match your dominant symptoms with the medicine that describes them, and take a low-potency dosage two to three times a day for two weeks. If you feel better, keep up the dosage, if not, it’s time to visit a homeopath for a sure-fire fix.

The homeopathic medicines that are of great help in treating nasal allergies like hay fever are Allium Cepa, Arsenic Album, Arundo Mauri, Kali Bichromicum and Gelsemium.

  1. Both Allium Cepa and Arsenic Album are very beneficial for this common allergy and they work when your symptoms are a runny nose with sneezing and burning eyes. If you feel better in open air then Allium Cepa is the better remedy but if you feel better in a warm room as compared to open spaces, then you must take Arsenic Album.

  2. Arundo Mauri works best when you are experience itching in nose, eyes, throat and sinuses.

  3. Kali Bichromicum is of great help when the dominant symptom is nasal discharge dropping back into the throat called post-nasal drip and sneezing. And Gelsemium should be used prescribed when running nose and sneezing are accompanied by a headache and a feverish feeling.

Homeopathy cures seasonal allergies faster when you are conscious about prevention. Just, take these simple, easy steps to keep allergens out of your system like keep the windows in your room shut, limit time spent outside, wear a mask when you go out to keep dust away and avoid cigarette smoke to live allergy-free.

You need to stop smoking first. It is the first and foremost step to get rid of bronchitis. If u can not quit smoking use nicotine chewing gum to control your craving to smoke. Next you need to take inhalers. Depending upon your condition u may need to take more than one inhalers. One inhaler to take regularly and another as rescue medication during severe breathlessness. Inform me which medicines u are taking right now.

Hi Lybrate-user, It will not get worse if she takes adequate treatment. If the doctor has diagnosed cough variant asthma he/she would have put her on inhalers too. Take them regularly even when she is asymptomatic. She will recover with regular treatment and check ups.

Tremors occur due to certain anti asthma syrup or tablets. Inhalers or nebuliser may also cause. Proper dose inhalers are least tremor triggers. Also rule out thyroid disease.

Home remedy.=1. Ginger: ginger has so many benefits on your heath and body. It is equally effective against asthmatic treatments. Make a juice with equal quantities of ginger, pomegranate, and honey. Consume it 2-3 times a day for effective results. Else, take one tbsp of ginger juice. Mix it up with a tbsp of honey and two tbsp of dried fenugreek seeds. Soak it overnight and consume it every morning to detoxify your lungs. 2. Soup: take a radish and blend it to obtain a juice from it. Mix it with some honey and lemon juice. Consume it as it will help in clearing up your respiratory track, which will make it easier for you to breathe.
