I got cough for two month not out of day but in some time I cough very harder but dry cough.

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
1. Do a complete blood examination like cbc, esr, mantoux test, x ray chest, sputum examination for afb. 2. Consult chest physician with report. 3. If all reports are normal it could be due to allergy. Do an allergy test after consulting allergist/immunologist and follow the advice and treatment 4. Do warm saline gurgling 3-4 times daily, 5. Avoid smoking if you smoke. 6. Consult me for further advice.

I have sinusitis problem since long. About 8-10 months back I undergone a surgery. Post surgery medication consumed for 45 days (aprx-rs. 10000 medicines) as prescribed by doctor. Hardly after 2 months problem started again. Consulted doctor again. He said I have to use for ever. Alegra-m. Consuming daily. Whenever we miss for 2-3 days, problem effecting severely. is there any permanent solution for this?

Master in Psychology, MD - Ayurveda, Dems, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,
Yes. Your problem can be cured permanently if you follow ayurveda. But you have to keep patience as the treatment is long. There is no need to take anti allergic daily. Basic need is to boost your immunity.

First of all Congretulations for taking a first step towards quitting smoking. Smoking is one of the few habits which takes very systematic approach and needs lot of support and individualized stretagies to quit successfully. Data such as - since how long are you smoking and how many cigarettes a day you consume are important information. Also have you tried quitting it earlier? How successful were you? And what are your personal reasons to stop smoking? All these are also important part of your success stretagy. Broadly speaking your reasons for not smoking work as your motivator. The stronger the reasons behind not smoking the higher the motivation and thus higher the chances for you to be successful. Also your body will have a withdrawal symptoms and it is very important to come up with strategies and solid plan to counter these withdrawal symptoms. These strategies should be tailormaid as per your need and situation. If you consider these and many other individualized approach and if you have a solid support through out your journey. You would be able to make a shift from being a smoker to a non smoker. I do have a 3 to 6 month package to help smokers step by step. To come up with stretagies that work and to customise the support system. You could either contact someone in your city or contact me to work either telephonically or via Internet based system.  Hope this helps Wishing you very best Try long distance running as a form of exercise. Join runner's group. That might help as well.

3 quarter size slices of gingerroot -2 cups of water Slice 3 slices off of a piece of raw gingerroot, with each being roughly the size of a quarter. Gently simmer the pieces of ginger in 2 cups of water, covered, for 30 minutes. Use something to remove the pieces of ginger and transfer to a mug, or if you prefer, leave them in. My husband age 59, known case of congenital heart disease, coarctation of aorta operated 20 years back, now have asthma, now facing problem of pulmonary hypertension any new researches in this cases.

DM Cardiology
Cardiologist, Delhi
Pulmonary hypertension occurs, when the pressure of lungs increase. Shortness of breath with exertion is the main symptom. This happens because the right ventricle can't force enough blood through the lungs to furnish enough oxygen. Chest pain often occurs. Fainting or loss of consciousness happens when the brain doesn't get enough oxygen. If you exert yourself, the need for oxygen may cause you to faint. Symptoms may become worse over time. How is it diagnosed? at your physical exam your doctor will ask you to describe your symptoms and other things about your health, especially what medications and drugs you have been taking. The symptoms already listed, especially when present in a young woman, make pph one possibility. If your doctor suspects pph, you will have an electrocardiogram, a procedure that records the electrical activity of your heart. Your electrocardiogram may show thickening of the muscle of the right ventricle. A chest x- ray may show evidence of decreased blood flow in the lungs. An echocardiogram, a test that uses ultrasound waves to create a picture of the heart, shows thickening of the right ventricle when pph is a cause of symptoms. The ultrasound waves can also make a reasonable measurement of the blood pressure in the arteries in the lungs. Sometimes a heart catheterization is needed to measure the pressure in the blood vessels in the lungs directly. Your health care provider will also need to test for other causes of high blood pressure in the lungs, such as blood clots in the lungs, diseases of the lung tissue, and liver diseases. How is it treated? pph used to be untreatable and always fatal, but current treatments seem to prolong survival. Blood thinners (anticoagulants) are usually used to prevent small blood clots that might further block blood flow through the lungs. The response to treatment varies from person to person. Some people benefit from the use of drugs called calcium antagonists. These drugs improve symptoms but aren't a cure. They expand (dilate) blood vessels in the lungs and improve blood flow. Prostacyclin, a normally occurring body hormone, may be given through a vein with the help of a special pump. Prostacyclin and a combination mixture of air and nitric oxide both may improve symptoms temporarily. In unusual cases people may be offered a heart-lung transplant.

Getting cold episodes once or twice in a year is quite common, they may at times get associated with fever or cough. You should take good rest, drink plenty of fluids, steam inhalation may help, and in most of the cases only medicine that may be required is simple paracetamol for fever and body ache.

खांसी के लिए घरेलू उपचार

Master in Psychology, MD - Ayurveda, Dems, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,

I have been suffering from cough from last week what is the basic treatment for cure it at home.

Certified Diabetes Educator, Registered Dietitian (RD), PGDD, Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (B.U.M.S), General Physician
Dietitian/Nutritionist, Mumbai
Firstly there's no lifelong cure for the common cold. Antibiotics are only effective against infections of throat and are of no use against cold viruses. Over-the-counter (otc) cold preparations won't cure a common cold or make it go away any sooner, and most have side effects. A saltwater gargle 1 teaspoon salt and 1/2tsp turmeric dissolved in a glass of warm water can temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat. To help relieve nasal congestion, try saline (pure salt water) nasal drops. If you have a throat infection, or a viral cold then I will prescribe appropriate meds based on your detailed assessment. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Yes, dry cough for a long time is considered as allergy in most of the cases. But it could be because of dryness of throat too. Avoid dryness of throat by having lots of water and avoid prolong sitting under a. C.

Causes and Symptoms of COPD

Multi Speciality Clinic
Multi Speciality, Pune
Causes and Symptoms of COPD

COPD, short for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is an inflammatory disease of the lungs. The disease obstructs the flow of air in the lungs and subsequently causes difficulty in breathing. Prolonged exposure to cigarette smoke, gases or particulate matter can lead to this condition. The condition transcends all age brackets meaning it can affect anyone from young teenagers to aged adults. People who contract this disease are at an increased likelihood of developing cardiovascular conditions and lung diseases, in addition to a horde of other conditions.

Causes of COPD
1. The chief cause of COPD is smoking tobacco and being subjected to fumes from cooking and heating. A study estimated that in and around 25% of long-standing smokers develop symptoms of this condition. Yet, statistics show that COPD is often misdiagnosed until an elaborate evaluation is diagnosed.
2. Conditions like Emphysema and chronic bronchitis are also known to cause the disease. Your lungs depend on the intrinsic elasticity of the air sacs and bronchial tubes that help facilitate the passage of air through the lungs. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease causes these passages to lose their elasticity thus rendering them partially ineffective.

Symptoms of COPD
The symptoms of COPD do not appear until the lungs are significantly damaged and the condition tends to deteriorate if smoking persists. Apart from coughing and production of sputum, other apparent symptoms include:

  1. Difficulty in breathing
  2. Stiffness and tightness of chest
  3. A persistent cough
  4. Fatigue and weakness
  5. Weight loss
  6. Frequent allergic reactions of the respiratory glands

Along with the aforementioned symptoms, patients who are diagnosed with COPD are likely to experience bouts of exacerbation, during which their symptoms heighten and tend to grow worse for several days.
Although anyone can contract the condition, certain people are at an increased risk of condition. Such risk factors include:

  • Chronic smoking
  • A medical history of asthma
  • Exposure to chemicals and dusts
  • Weakening of the immune system with increasing age
  • Heredity

If you experience or entertain symptoms or suspicions of this disease, consulting a pulmonologist is duly advised.
