Urticaria, also known as Hives and Nettle Rash. It is an allergic disorder. It is similar to the rashes that are caused due to touching a nettle plant. This allergic reaction can be caused due to a variety of reasons, thus increasing the difficulty in identifying the exact cause of the allergy. Homeopathic medication has proved to be very efficient in treating urticaria. Some of the best homeopathic remedies include:

  1. Apis Mellifica: Described as one of the best solutions to urticaria, this medication is commonly prescribed with regard to treatment. The characterising symptoms of this medication is eruptions accompanied by inflammation and sting. It is similar to the sting of a bee where there is redness and swelling. Exposure to heat in any form is intolerable as the eruption are aggravated. The slightest of touch can cause burning or itching and the patient usually remains thirsty.
  2. Dulcamara: This is a medication that is usually prescribed for Urticaria, caused due to cold air or wet weather or dampness. Consumption of sour food or indefinite diet can cause the eruptions. Even though the skin is often dry, there is redness and itching.
  3. Natrum Mur: One of the frequently used medicines for urticaria, this medicine is prepared from common salt. It is used in cases where the eruptions are triggered by exposure to the sun, thereby resulting in intense itching. The skin has an oily or greasy feel. Most likely locations of occurrence include margins of hair or bends of joints.
  4. Ledum Pal: This medication focuses on the eruptions that occur on the legs and feet. There is a possibility of the infection spreading from the lower to the upper regions at a later stage. Increase in itching can result from the warmth of bed or on scratching. Colder conditions provide a soothing sensation
  5. Astacus Fluviatilis: This is an effective medication that be used to treat, both acute and chronic urticarial forms. Rashes are visible on the entire body and are at an increased sensitiveness to air. It is recommended for liver diseases and liver-related symptoms that are accompanied by urticaria.

Dear lybrate-user. I can understand. Definitely smoking is injurious to health and can adversely affect your sexual ability and erection. But smoking cannot affect the length of the penis or it cannot shrink the penis. Quit smoking and see the quality of erection and sexual performance. If not better, consult a urologist. Take care.

Hi, I am Atika. I am a counselling psychologist and I have been practising from last 11 years. I have seen very dangerous mental issues ranging from relationships, marital issues, work stress, parent child, low confidence, too much mental illness and suicide. Today I am going to talk about "Investing in oneself emotionally". As I feel that a lot of our problems arise because we do not look after our emotions like anger, stress and then it all leads to breakdown. We all invest in our career, our ambitions, our standard of living, even in our physical health. Somehow we do not pay attention to our mental health whereas the overall well being depends on the physical as well as the emotional health.

As we grow from our infant to our adulthood, we are taught to take care of our physical health like how to dress, how to eat, how to take care of our physical needs. But somehow, we are not taught that how to take care of our emotional health like that of love, appreciation, acceptance, acknowledgement, companionship.

What happens when these emotional needs are not met?

It will gradually develop into frustration, anger, stress, and eventually a breakdown. 

So how do we take care of our emotional needs?

  • First of all, it is very important to become aware of them. What is the emotional need? To feel acceptance? To feel loved? To feel appreciated? This is required to be identified.
  • Second is to acknowledge them, that yes these exist, these needs exist through our life.
  • Third is to accept them, to embrace them
  • Fourth is to deal with them, to cope with them in a healthy manner.

How can u do all these?

It is important to seek for a counselling. We go to a psychologist or a counsellor who can provide unbiased, safe environment where one can share their deepest fear. Talk about the fear which they are going through, without the fear of being judged. And gradually through the counselling process, we get to know that what drives us, what motivates us, what are our emotional needs and how we fulfill them in a healthy manner.

People who take care of their physical well being, mental well being and emotional well being, are more productive and more fulfilling life. They have better relationships, they are more productive, they are good at work and they are happier individuals.

Hi. Baby should be given exclusive breast feed till 6 months after 6 months we should start complimentary feeds. Our aim should be that baby should take all the home based food by one year of age. Breast feeding should be continued till 2 years of age. The complimentary feeds at six months should be semiliquid and bland and gradually we should increase the consistency and introduce different tastes.

Hello lybrate user Your back pain arises at particular positions as you have mentioned. according to my suggestion you must wear contoured lumbosacral belt while bike riding and in gym you can do cardio program instead of abs crunches, etc. firstly take proper treatment of back pain relief by qualified physio follow by some stretching & relaxing back exercises. once pain relief then do strength improving exercises. secondly you will able to do gym exercises.

I am 42 year old. I am suffering from hypothyroidism from last 13 years. I was eltroxin 100mcg. Recently my tsh was 10.2. My doc advised me to increase the dose to 125mcg. Height is usually always dominated by genetics. How short are your parents? if you are their size or slightly taller then them, chances are you will not grow very much more. There are no amazing magic ways to get taller. Get lots of nutrition and calcium. Get tons of calcium. Bigger bones means bigger you. Work out and play sports alot. Also greatly emphasize stretching. Posture is also important. Walk as tall and as straight as possible and over time this will add a handful of centimetres to your height. Take ashwagandha powder 2-2 tsf twice a day and lakshadi guggul 1-1 tab twice a day with warm water.

Your ra factor titres are increased. Most people with such conditions suffer from rheumatoid arthritos or sjorgen's syndrome. However rf titre may also be raised in diseases like sle, sarcoidosis, dermatomyositis etc. You may get your'anti-ccp antibody' test done to make a definite diagnosis.

The reasons may vary from minor problems to major problems. See that you maintain a healthy lifestyle where the proper healthy diet, exercise and rest are followed meticulously. Avoid stimulants like tea, coffee, cold drinks, tobacco and alcohol. Avoid junk and processed​ food. Sleep at the right time every day (even if there is a holiday ). Avoid gadgets and bright lights (and also loud music) at night. Drink enough water (8-10 glass of water) everyday. Exercise every day as it will induce not only relaxation but also good sleep. Please eat only healthy food with lots of vegetables and fruits on a daily basis. Follow these habits and soon you should feel better and get sound sleep. Revert after two weeks of practicing the above said health tips.

Mix one part lemon juice and two parts of coconut or olive oil. Apply it on your hair and scalp and leave it on for 30 to 45 minutes. Wash it out and then shampoo your hair with a mild shampoo. Repeat once or twice a week.
