I suspect that she is one of many who have been taking medicines but not working with a counselor in tandem. She needs both counseling and medical intervention. The combination is ideal for the cure to be complete. In fact counseling will need to go on for a long time to develop skills and techniques to cope with everyday challenges of his life. If she remains episode-free for three years at least, she can be weaned off of the medication. So I assume that for all of these many years she has been letting the medicine do all the work on her depression and very little effort from her side. This will not do at all. So please start her on counseling immediately. In the meantime please get her to do the following that can be done all by herself as she desires: She must be active and work towards her reformation. Many lifestyle changes need to be made to progress away for the condition. When she is depressed, she will feel lazy though I would like to call it lethargy. There is an inertia and lack of energy to even think, let alone act. She is required to literally do the opposite of what she feels like doing. Depression makes one want to withdraw, lie down, sleep, become lethargic, slow down, make one too lazy to even think etc. So when I suggested doing the opposite, she will need to fight this disease. She must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, eat more of proteins and vegetables, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer herself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose herself to some sunlight every day, at least 30 minutes but not in the scotching heat. Whatever happens, she needs to incorporate these three important adaptations in her life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If she did these three things, lots of things will go well in life. Have her pray and have faith in God to alleviate her sufferings. She should not wait for others to help. Use her own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but if she perseveres she will win this battle. The doctor and counselor are there only to facilitate her, all the hard word must come from her, and her cooperation with them is very critical for her success.

Psychologist, Palakkad
Dear, dyslexia, also known as reading disorder, is a learning disability characterized by trouble with reading despite normal intelligence. Depression is a state of low mood and aversion to activity that can affect a person's thoughts, behavior, feelings and sense of well-being. Dyslexia and depression are not related. Clinical depression is usually treated with a combination of psychiatric medicines, psychotherapy, life style changes, meditation and exercise. I hope you are undergoing psychiatric treatment, otherwise, please approach a psychiatrist.

Masturbation is not really bad; it is the addiction to it that is bad. Not even the number of years is a problem but the frequency and compulsiveness to do it is to be considered for its ill-effects. At your age you may feel it difficult and it can become addictive if you have alone time, if you obsess about it, and if you are not into relationships. The problem with addiction to this is that you may go on to prefer masturbation to heterosexual contact, even when you are married. That obviously would be an insult to your wife and will lead to a lot of conflict. Heterosexual contact is very wholesome and the physiology is made exactly for penile and vaginal contact. You will instead enjoy a poor replica of this and not know or care for the difference. The second thing that can happen with addiction is that it will become compulsive and will have no boundaries or limits, since it can be done all by yourself, whenever, wherever, and however too. The big problem a lot of children get into is the guilt around this. A useful way to discharge the energy is to get into contact games, or exercises, or even hobbies to channelize it. Also you should not spend too much time alone, and you need to keep your mind occupied with other interesting things and a lot of socializing. Even if you are not interested in marriage for whatever reasons it will help you to get into a friendship with a girl and enjoy the relationship where there will be a lot of excitement when you fall in love. Right now your hormones may be very active and your physiological apparatus is primed and ready for sexual stimulation. But because of your age and even otherwise it is important to develop good control and not feed into your impulses. Keeping yourself occupied and living a healthy social life are the keys to manage your sexual drives.

Traumatic life events in the child hood, has affected your personality development. From your text it is apparent that you have, emotionally unstable and impulsive personality traits. These people have unexplained mood swings, high rejection sensitivity poor anger control, tendencies of harming themselves. First you should know yourself better, identify the shortcomings (which we all have) and work on it. You should practice more patience, try to react as less you can, regular meditations and breathing pranayama will increase your resilience and decrease anxiety. Take help of professional if you are not able to handle it.

You should have mentioned your age. Avoid junk food and play a sport to stay active and fit. Use cycle to travel. Regarding studies, the more pressure you take, the more you difficulty you will face. Be the master of your mind and concentrate, mind should not rule you, you should rule your mind to stay away from distractions. Understanding the concepts will make your studies easier and you will enjoy learning new things every day.

Try to strike a balance between both. Have a goal in your mind and divide it into daily achievable goals. Meet the girl less often. Don't mix the two as you will not be able to enjoy anything. You can get more tips from me. Please click on private chat if you have any questions.

This could be a symptom of underlying anxiety and panic about certain situations which you are not in control of. Please see a counsellor and psychiatrist to get your assessment and start the treatment. In the meantime start exercising every day so that you are able to manage stress better. Eat a high protein diet which helps in mood regulation and do yoga pranayama and meditation which helps immensely in anxiety and palpitations.

You have an anger related depression and need immediate help. Fear and depression tend to go together but with some help, you should well out of the problem. You have not mentioned your age so it is difficult to guide you completely well. If you have depression then there are some major ramifications to take into account. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved. Life is extremely precious and the depression can make you feel like quitting but you must never give up.

Well she might be having apprehensive anxiety about doing well in the exam. Excessive anxiety leads to depression. Depression caused by stress or exogenous depression tend to be worse in the evening. Please start talking to her, tell you love her and would continue to love her irrespective of the result. Reinforce the hardworking she has been doing and that is what is on her control. Exams are merely a way to test your knowledge and is not the ultimate. You can see a counsellor if necessary.
