Dear sir, I am a diabetic patients n taking human mixtard insulin. My sugar level is under control. Can I donate blood. Reply.

MBBS & Post Graduate course in Diabetology, Fellow of Academy of General Education (FAGE), CCEBDM
Endocrinologist, Bangalore
Hi If you take insulin, you are not eligible to donate. The rationale is that donating blood could interrupt your blood glucose control, and potentially lead to a hypoglycemic reaction in the clinic or on the way home. If you manage your diabetes with lifestyle or diabetes pills, you may be eligible, depending on your overall health and if you meet the eligibility criteria listed below. Many people who have type 2 diabetes have blood pressure and heart problems, which would prevent them from donating. So, if you are on OHAs and on good control, you should be able to donate blood, suggest not unless you are very keen and should be done under close monitoring.

Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. A NIGHT FALL / nocturnal emission / wet dream or involuntary leakage is an involuntary ejaculation of semen that occurs during sleep or along with urine while urination. Studies show that approximately 83% of men experience a nocturnal emission or leakage at some point in their lives. There is nothing wrong with a person if he or she experiences a nocturnal orgasm or nocturnal emission or leakage, as they are normal and healthy experiences. If you have experienced a wet dream, you should not feel ashamed. There is no way to prevent nocturnal orgasms or emissions from happening. Sage tea is the best home remedy which is used to treat conditions such as nightfall. If you drink at least two cups in a day, the chances of getting wet dreams will reduce too. Take fenugreek with honey on a regular basis. Exercise regularly and practice yoga and meditation to keep calm and relaxed. I suggest online sex counseling. Take care.

I am facing a problem of delayed ejaculation and at time I end up without ejaculation even after a long sex session. My wife is concerned and this is taking toll on our sex life.

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Delayed ejaculation is a troublesome problem for sexually active males. Though inability to relax perineal musculature remains the only possible etiology behind it, certain medications are also implicated in its causation. The medicine you are taking" rexipra" is an ssri which canalso delay ejaculation by retrograde ejaculation. I would suggest you to consult a psychiatrist for replacement of the said medicine with an alternative and add some anxiolytic as an add on. Also consider consulting a psychiatrist with your spouse for couple counselling and sex therapy.

Hi. For your wife: A woman’s libido is the desire for sexual intercourse. Common causes of lack of sexual desire include exhaustion, poor self-esteem, or an unhappy relationship. A significant cause may be hormone imbalance from childbirth, chemical birth control or other hormonal changes. Stress, melancholy along with getting older are normal cause. Medication: Take Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos. - both thrice daily. Management: Talk openly with your partner about your sexual dysfunction Daily exercise is helpful to increase sexual drive Try to keep your body free from obesity Take a balance diet filled with plenty of fresh vegetables and fruit Learn to relax and de-stress by meditating Stop smoking Alcohol has bad affects to sexual function and desire Try to reduce the drinking of alcohol Avoid illegal and powerful sexual drugs Regular exercising keeps you fit and healthy, so don't forget to do it. Practice pranayam regularly for half an hour preferably in a garden early in the morning. Not to do these exercises within 4 hours after meals. One can have meals not within 15 minutes after finishing these exercises. These exercises are good for gaining and maintaining good health. Also, practice Pelvic floor exercise or Kegel exercise, consists of repeatedly contracting and relaxing the muscles that form part of the pelvic floor. Kegel exercises are employed to strengthen the pubococcygeal muscle and other muscles of the pelvic diaphragm. Kegels can help men achieve stronger erections, maintain healthy hips, and gain greater control over ejaculation. The objective of this may be similar to that of the exercise in women with weakened pelvic floor: to increase bladder and bowel control and sexual function. Foods which increases your sex drive: Chillies, peppers, avocados, bananas, chocolates, oysters, pomegranate, red wine, walnuts, vanilla, watermelon, coffee and spicy food.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS

Here are some tips to prevent a migraine attack, drugs are not essential in early stages: 1. Identify and avoid migraine triggers. You can keep track of your headache patterns and identify headache triggers by using a headache diary. 2. Recall what was eaten prior to an attack to help you identify chemical triggers. 3. Manage stress to prevent or reduce the severity of the migraine attacks. 4. Follow a regular daily routine and get adequate rest. 5. Exercise (in moderation) regularly.

I masturbate 2 times in last 3 days. Is it harmful ? How can I fulfill lost protein ?

MBBS, MCCEE, Fellowship in Sexual Medicine
Sexologist, Jaipur
Ideally Masturbation should not be more than 2-3 times a week for any adult. It will keep you sexually active. Too much of everything is bad as always. Along with this schedule of masturbation you need proper diet which should consist of fresh fruits , fresh vegetables and one hour of jogging early morning every day. This will keep you fit for future activity also.
