Hello lybrate user, - all the problems you have mentioned are all interlinked to one another, so have to get the solution to solve all of them not one by one - 1st thing you have to do is to correct your food habits and lifestyle - avoid outside food, take freshly prepared home food always - avoid heavy food in the night - take a glass of butter milk after meals - take a glass of warm water before going to bed - take a walk after meals, never go to bed immediately after food - take hingwashtaka churna 1spoon with warm water twice a day before food - dhanwantara vati 1-0-1 before food - triphala ras 20 ml with warm water after food follow this for 10 days. You will be fine after this. Thank you.

Hi I'm a 35 year old female. I'm a diabetic patient. I read from Lybrate that lady's finger can reduce blood sugar level to an extent. But I heard that having lady's finger will increase the cholesterol level. Is that true?

Hi, as mentioned there are some reports suggesting that using ladies finger (okra) does help in reducing blood sugar, but these are only studies in rats in laboratory. So extrapolating that effect on to human being is not good. It is a good green vegetable, gives vitamins, potassium and fibers etc. But as a treatment for diabetes it is not supported by any clinical studies. One can consume it in good quantity because it is a good vegetable.

Common Sexual Problems In Men & Women!

MBBS, PG Diploma In Emergency Trauma Care, fellowship in diabetology

Common Sexual Problems In Men & Women!

While intercourse is perceived as an act of pleasure and joy, for many people, due to various reasons (physical and psychological) it may not be the case. There are multiple sexual problems in males and females, some of which are extremely common. However, given the private nature of the topic, not many come up for a frank discussion with the doctor. The problem goes unsolved, leading to a lot of stress in the relationships and even broken relationships at times. Read on to know 3 most common sexual problems in males and females.

Males:

  1. Impotence: Inability to attain and/or maintain an erection is extremely common. Performance anxiety, stressful relationships, and hormone imbalance are the most common causes for this.
  2. Ejaculation disorders: When the male is not able to hold the erection long enough, it is termed as premature ejaculation. When there is an ejaculation of sperms back into the bladder, it is retrograde ejaculation. Slow release of sperms is referred to as inhibited ejaculation. There is no defined time period for these conditions, and it depends on the couple.
  3. Low libido: A reduced desire for and in sexual activity, this can be due to physical or psychological factors. Hormonal imbalance, anxiety, depression, high blood pressure, and relationship issues are some causes attributable to this condition.

Treatment: Though medications and hormones can definitely come to the rescue, the first and most effective mode would be counselling. Psychological reasons should be addressed for relieving the problem through counselling and sex education. Hormone replacements, vacuum devices, and penile implants can also be used to manage these. The partner should be involved too to achieve a healthy sexual life.

Women: The sexual problems seen in women are slightly different than in males.

  1. Low libido: This is far more common in women than in men. This is related to multiple factors like hormonal (menopausal), stressful relationships, painful sex, pelvic pain and infections.
  2. Anorgasmia: This is an inability to achieve orgasm and is more common in females than in men. This also feeds into lower libido.
  3. Dyspareunia: This can be due to pelvic area infections, urinary tract infections and vaginal dryness. This again leads to decreased libido.

Treatment: This again involves a combination of medications, hormonal therapy, and counselling. If there are infections or inflammation in the pelvic tract, they need to be treated. Vaginal dryness can be managed with lubricants. Hormone replacement can be done where required. However, like in males, involving the partner and having a frank discussion is the most effective way to resolve this issue. Women are still quite conservative and may not be very forthcoming to talk about this. However, this remains the most effective method to improve the quality of sex life.

Do pranayam daily for 20 min. The increase in oxygen supply in body helps the brain get m more oxygen, thus making person feel better. Meditation is also a very good alternative which helps in long run. Do it daily for 30 min and slowly increase time. Remember that there are certain things in life which are not perfect and its better to accept them and not let your mind be affected for long.

You are suffering from jock itch. Jock itch is a very common groin rash. Roughly half of jock itch is due to fungus. The remainder is caused by moisture, irritation, and bacterial overgrowth. In most cases, jock itch can be treated at home effectively. You can try the following remedies to get rid of the infection: 1. Apply over-the-counter antifungal cream, powder, or spray to the affected area - our best options include Lamisil, Lotrimin Ultra, and/or Naftin. These are more expensive, but they will get rid of jock itch faster. Prefer Lotrimin Ultra which contains Butenafine Hydrochloride over regular Lotrimin AF which just contains clotrimazole. Studies have shown Butenafine can be faster and more effective than clotrimazole. You can also purchase cheaper creams containing clotrimazole or miconazole. These will take a little longer to work, but they will effectively wipe out jock itch. 2. Wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and warm water. 3. Dry the affected area thoroughly after bathing and exercise. 4. Change clothes and undergarments every day. 5. Wear loose cotton clothing. Avoid wearing any clothing that rubs or irritates your crotch. 6. Treat any other fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot. Doing this will decrease the risk for recurrence.
