My father is 43 years old. He have high sugar. Since 1 year. To decrease what shall I do.
To give any advise I should get some more information like - fasting and pp sugar levels, hba1c%, weight and height and level of physical activity daily and dietary habits. Since he has confirmed diabetes, treatment with anti diabetic drugs shoul be started immediately. In addition he should exercise for more than 1 h every day. He should avoid sweets, direct sugar, deep fried foods and fruits like mango, banana, chikkoos, and grapes. Try and maintain his weight near normal for his height. (ideal body weight = height in cms - 100 x 0.9 = kgs). Consume more green vegetables, salads and complex carbs. If you want any specific advise please come in a private conversation with all the details.

If your blood sugar is not in control, then there is a possibility of loosing weight as more glucose is excreted. So first thing is get your sugar level in control. Fasting should be closer to 100 mg and pp 150 to 160 mg, when on treatment. Then only your health is likely to improve.

Mr Meharaj, There is no specific answer for why you have got this condition, as there are many reasons like iodine deficiency, autoimmune disease (Hashimoto's Thyroiditis), Goitre and also genetic factors. But if one has hypothyroidism (high TSH), it has to be treated with supplement of thyroxine tablets. This treatment has to be continued for life time. There are no home remedies, that can help in controlling thyroid deficiency. One thing you can do is avoid soy beans, soy containing products, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, radish, mustard, peanuts and coffee. Consume more of green leafy vegetables and salads, fruits, low fat milk products. Also exercise daily for at least 1 hour a day. These things help additionally. But drug treatment is essential.

RA factor value of 19 indicates positive result. But simple RA factor elevated with pain in foot joints cannot diagnose Rheumatoid arthritis. RA factor can be raised in other conditions too like liver diseases. The medicines you have been started on is for Rheumatoid arthritis. I would suggest you to continue these medicines and see if you get any benefit. Meanwhile you should also start foot exercises. Wear good quality shoes with sole support. You should consult a pain specialist in your city for persistent problems. You can consult again for further queries.

How to control cholesterol and sugar ?

MD - Internal Medicine, MBBS
Endocrinologist,
How to control cholesterol and sugar ?
High triglycerides and cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, take plenty of water in day time. And 1 glass of water before bed at night. use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. Garlic,. Cod liver oil. Take anti cholesterol medicines . AVOID sweet meal also.

The idea here is to ascertain whether your wife has benefitted by the 75 mcg dose or not. This can only be established by testing atleast at 6weeks interval initially to know whether thyroid is under control or not. Tsh test is recommended before further advise.
