Dear lybrate user, -you should have a snack before exercising (about 1-2 hrs before exercise) like a boiled egg or an apple & a bowl of curds or nuts almonds, walnuts, peanut, cashews as it will provide you with the energy during exercise & also have something to eat about 15-20 min after exercise like a bowl of sprouts, salad or milkshake or paneer -donot skip breakfast, have 5-6 small meals rather than having 3 large meals as it will provide you with constant energy & you will not feel week -have water before, during & after exercise as mild dehydration also causes tiredness & lethargy -combine a carbohydrate food with a protein food in snacks as well as meals like have egg with whole wheat bread, yogurt with fruit, milk & cornflakes, oats & fruit, poha with groundnut -take adequate rest & sleep for 7-8 hrs at night, all these measures will surely reduce your tiredness.

What should be the pre-cure for dengue?

BHMS
Homeopath,
What should be the pre-cure for dengue?
At present, no effective vaccine for dengue fever is available. Therefore, the best preventive measure is to eliminate pockets of stagnant water that serve as breeding sites for mosquitoes, and to avoid mosquito bites. General measures on preventing mosquito-borne diseases 1.      Wear loose, light–coloured, long-sleeved tops and trousers, and use DEET-containing insect repellent on exposed parts of the body and clothing. 2.      Take additional preventive measures when going outdoor activities: Avoid using fragrant cosmetics or skin care products   Re-apply insect repellents according to instructions 3.      Special notes when travelling abroad: Before the trip arrange a travel health consultation with your doctor at least 6 weeks before the journey for any extra mosquito bite preventive measures   During the trip, if travelling in endemic rural areas, carry a portable bed net and apply permethrin (an insecticide) on it. Permethrin should NOT be applied to skin. Seek medical attention as early as possible if feeling unwell   Travellers who return from affected areas and feel unwell e.g. run a fever, should seek medical advice as soon as possible, and provide travel details to their doctor    Help prevent mosquito proliferation 1.      Prevent accumulation of stagnant water Change the water in vases once a week Clear the water in the saucers under potted plants every week Cover water containers tightly Ensure air-conditioner drip trays are free of stagnant water Put all used cans and bottles into covered dustbins 2. Control vectors and reservoir of the diseases Store food and dispose of garbage properly Homoeopathic Medication: For simple Dengue fever - Eupatorium perfoliatum 200 can be taken twice daily for three days and subsequently at least two doses a week at the interval of three - four day till the epidemic persist for the prevention of dengue fever. For Dengue Haemorrhagic fever - Ipecac in 200 potency can be given twice a day for three days and two doses a week in all the patients those who have already suffered with the dengue fever and are prone for dengue haemorrhagic fever. This drug can also be used alternately with Eupatorium perfoliatum 200 to prevent both the types of dengue fever in so far not infected individuals.

Is pulse rate of 114/min is normal one. have systolic of 150mmhg and diastolic of 131mmhg. Im I healthy.
Dear Lybrateuser, - The normal pulse rate range is 60-100 beats / min, if your resting pulse rate is 114 then it is high - your BP is high as the systolic is above 140 mm of Hg, diastolic is high as it is above 90 mm of Hg - monitor your BP at least once a day on rising & if possible again in the evening - consult a doctor as you will require investigations -restrict salt, tea, coffee intake, avoid alcohol, smoking if you do.

Doctor I am getting severe cough and throat pain. Please tell me medicine and also tell me that at what time we will ...
Thanks for the question cough and throat ache may be initial symptoms of a viral infection. You have not mentioned the duration of these or whether you are having running nose or fever. Seasonal change may prone one to these infections specially humid weather when these microorganisms thrive very well. Also the rising levels of pollution is an important factor. Drink plenty of oral fluids and you can take paracetamol (650 mg) for the throat ache. However, if your symptoms continue for more than 3 days or you develop high fever with active sputum an antibiotic course may be needed. If your cough is more of a dry variant, anti-allergic medications and steam inhalation will help.

Hi, please go for a detailed blood investigation like cbc, widal test, mp, montaux and routine urine examination and then revert back with the reports. Till then keep recording your temparature. There are several things you can do to prevent a cold. they are all easy. -Always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing into your hands, blowing your nose, after touching someone who is sick, or when using public restrooms or telephones. -Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough. -Get plenty of rest/sleep.staying at home will keep you from spreading germs.Avoid people who have a cold or cold symptoms. -Drink plenty of fluids(veg/tomato soups, dal water/coconut water/herbal tea etc), and eat nutritious food(like sprouts/boiled eggs without yolk with milk). Avoid foods or drinks with caffeine which can impair your sleep -Treatment:A cold usually lasts for a week or two. Unless you develop complications, you shouldn't need medical treatment. -Complications like infections of the ears, throat, sinuses or lungs must be treated with antibiotics. -Gargle to keep from getting a sore throat. -Use saline nasal sprays or nasal irrigation. -Tablet nasorest-p once/twice daily may ease breathing. -Do steam inhalation once or twice daily -Cough- For dry cough.Take syrup Alex-D for a dry cough.(1 tsp thrice daily) -Productive cough:it brings up mucus from behind the throat or the lungs. These coughs should not be suppressed to the point that they no longer bring up mucus. What complications are associated with diabetes?

PGDMCH, MBA( CHA) , MBBS
General Physician, Gurgaon
What complications are associated with diabetes?

Diabetes is a serious disorder which happens when your body has an unreasonably high level of blood sugar, which further leads to harmful effects. Diabetes has a wide variety of complications associated with it, and they start to build up slowly and gradually. Some of the common complications are:

  • Retinopathy - In simple words, diabetes leads to eye damage by making the eye exposed and prone to severe eye disorders like cataracts and glaucoma. If you have retinopathy, then you may also have face the consequence loss of vision or permanent blindness.
  • Skin conditions - During diabetes, your skin health is bound to degrade to a large extent. Your skin will become thin in texture and more prone to cuts and breakages due to internal skin cell damage. Thus, the skin gets more exposed to the bacterial and viral infections and its healing process also slows down as the cell division takes longer than usual.
  • Nephropathy - Nephropathy refers to kidney damage which is caused due to diabetes. The kidneys act as a filter system to the body and they filter out waste materials from the blood. Diabetes causes damage to the blood vessels of the kidneys which may further result in serious kidney disorders and may increase the risks of a sudden kidney failure.
  • Cardiovascular diseases - This means that if you are having excessive diabetes, then you are at a risk of having a major heart attack or a heart stroke. Additionally, increased blood sugar levels also lead to other heart-related diseases like chest pain, narrowing of arteries etc.
  • Neuropathy - It is a complication related to the nervous system of your body. The complication generally occurs in the legs as there is a numbness, burning or tingling sensation in the legs. This happens due to the extra sugar in the body, which damages the walls of the blood vessels. In the worst case scenario, you can lose sensation in the legs.

However, it is always desirable that you go and visit a doctor if the conditions persist for a longer time. Additionally, you can also depend upon some domestic care measures to bring your blood sugar levels under control.

'Consult'.

White Vs Brown Eggs - Understanding the Nutritional Value

White Vs Brown Eggs - Understanding the Nutritional Value

Lifestyle changes such as eating healthy and exercising are to be incorporated in everyone’s life. The awareness to go organic is being spread wide, mostly because of social media. Analysis of the food we eat and questioning the components of our diet is very much necessary and this has created a lot of facts and myths. In the world that we live in today, we weigh multiple options for choosing the right one. One such comparison is between white eggs and brown eggs. The egg shell color influences consumers to a great extent.

Nutritional value: Eggs are filled with nutritional value. About 70 calories, 6 grams of protein and vitamin B are the components of eggs. Eggs are a very good source of protein. The egg yolk contains a lot of cholesterol. Those who would want to avoid cholesterol can take only the egg white. Carotenoids lutein and zeaxanthin are the other nutrients present in eggs. They lower the risk of macular degeneration. Choline, another element present in the eggs helps in memory development.

Types of eggs: The common labels one could see in the case of eggs are free-run, organic, free-roaming, vegetarian fed, Omega-3 enriched and graded eggs. These categories are based on the diet and lifestyle of the hens. Some hens are fed vegetarian food and are not given animal proteins. Some are not caged and are let in open spaces. These hens lay eggs in their nests and some are fed with flax seeds. Such eggs are labeled as Omega-3 enriched.

White vs brown eggs: Here are a few points to ponder about the difference between white eggs and brown eggs.

  1. Shell: The color of the shell is the major difference between brown and white eggs. The egg shells of brown color are believed to be hard, which is nothing but a myth. Young chickens lay harder shelled eggs.
  2. Nutritional value: The color does not really determine the egg quality. What really matters is the hen's diet. Two hens, given the same diet, lay eggs with the same nutritional value irrespective of the color of the shell.
  3. Yolk: It is believed that brown eggs have richly colored yolks when compared to white eggs. This is determined by the amount of corn the hen eats rather than the eggshell color.
  4. Cost: White chicken lays white eggs and brown chicken lays brown eggs. Brown eggs are costlier than white eggs. This is because the maintenance of brown chickens cost more. They are larger in size and they require more food. This costs the farmers more.
  5. Taste: White eggs and brown eggs taste the same. There are not many differences when it comes to taste of the eggs. This again depends on the food to the hen.
  6. Bleaching of white eggs: White eggs are not bleached to make them appear white. As mentioned earlier, the color of the hen influences the color of the eggs. Sometimes brown hens lay white eggs but the color of the resulting white egg is darker than a normal white egg. This has no connection with bleaching.

The nutritional value is the same for both the eggs. The major things that cause a difference between these two eggs are the shell color and cost. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor.

I have red eyes last three weeks what should I do please give me your suggestion and headache I need your help.

FICO, DNB Ophtalmology
Ophthalmologist, Gandhinagar
I have red eyes last three weeks what should I do please give me your suggestion and headache I need your help.
Lybrate itching, rednessredness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic. (4) raised intraocular pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the coats of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. In case you have a family history of glaucoma or if you have pain in the eyes along with the headache, it would be better to get your eye pressures checked.
