Sir I have one doubt for my son. He is 7 years old. His weight is 28 kg before 3 or 4 months ago. Suddenly he lost his more weight. Now he is 24 kg. I checked his weight before 2 months 26 kg. I really scared about his weight loss. So I consulted a doctor and scanned his stomach USC. That is normal. But still he lost his weight. What's the reason. Please suggest me.

Hello, Worms could be one of the reasons which is very common in the young children. Please consult his respective paediatrician for the deworming agent to be given. Deworming is very important with kids at least once a year. Secondly, avoid giving him excess of sugar and ready to eat processed foods. Fresh, homecooked, nutritional densed food should be given. Since the level of physical activity is more you need to monitor is food habits closely.

My 4 years kid is having fever last 4 days. Today we did a blood check up for hims. Results says CRP level is 45. What does it mean? Is there anything wrong If CRP level go high? What are the after effects of this?

Hi, In young children with fever without apparent focus on physical examination and history is measurement of C‐reactive is useful to identify occult bacterial infection. Now a days it has become test of choice to start early antibiotics to combat infections in early stages.

Usually this cyst does not cause any problem in pregnancy. It usually resolves on its own and if it does not then at the time of delivery if cesarean then it can managed simultaneously. If normal vaginal delivery then 2 months later get usg done for it. If it still exist then get investigated n take treatment.

Common Breastfeeding Problems & Their Solutions!

Common Breastfeeding Problems & Their Solutions!

Breastfeeding has shown to have an incredible impact on the growth and development of an infant on account of the nutrients which are provided to the baby. The mental development which occurs due to breastfeeding is said to show even years from the time that a person was an infant. When a person considers just how important breastfeeding truly is, she would not want to make a mistake, would she?

A lot of new mothers are concerned, if their babies seem to fall asleep while feeding a lot quicker than they should. As a matter of fact, they worry that the babies will not get enough breast milk and this can stunt the development of the young ones. While this is true, it can be said that a few steps taken can make sure of the fact that there would be nothing for the mothers to worry about.

  1. Inadequate consumption: It is natural for a baby to have a tendency to fall asleep, after all, that rapid rate of growth is likely to consume a lot of energy. In order to make sure the baby consumes enough milk prior to falling asleep, what should be done is that the mother should transfer the baby from one breast to the other one when she notices that the rate at which the baby is consuming is slowing down. The effect this has is to make sure that the rate of transfer is maximised; as the fastest rate, the milk transfers is when the baby begins suckling, for the first few minutes.
  2. Risk of Infection: Taking into due account what a sensitive and important process breastfeeding is, it can be said that an infection is something which can disrupt the process. One of the infections happens to be thrush. This is one which can spread from the mouth of the baby to the breasts of the mother. The effects of the infection include soreness and possibly even a rash. A doctor would probably provide the patient with some anti-fungal medication in order to fight the infection off.
  3. Latching problems: Another issue which is faced by new mothers is that there is a pain when the baby is to latch on to the nipple. In order to reduce this, what can be done is that the mother can try keeping the baby in a position to cover as much of the area under the nipple than over and adjust the baby to cover the nipple when he or she yawns.

These are just some of the common issues faced by new mothers. However, following a few simple measures can ensure that the experience of breastfeeding is most satisfying for both mother and child. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Gynaecologist.

My 3 month old baby farts a lot and his farts smell very bad. The smell has been coming only a few days ago. He also refuses to breast feed and spits up all the milk if he breastfeeds. He has also not been passing stools for the last eight days when before he used to poop every day. His present weight is 5 kg. He had been fed honey 1 tsp on 3 occasions and 1tsp pomegranate juice and 1tsp orange juice. Should I be worried?

Get a complete blood tests done if everything is fine as per her pediatrician, then just keep patience. At around this age such things are very common. There are repeated episodes of viral illness.

Breastfeeding should be continued till 2 years age though in decreased frequency as compared to first 6 months. During weaning babies show likes or dislikes for various food. If you want to continue breastfeeding offer her breastfeed sometimes in a day. Don't force the child as they are already stressed to accept new tastes and food daily. Offer her if she refuse its fine, try again next time. Add milk and milk products in her diet if she is not taking breastmilk at all. You can use various formulas available for more than 6 months babies. Avoid cows milk till 1 year age.
