Hello lybrate-user pull your toes towards yourself and hold for 20-30 seconds. If you can't hold your toe try to reach it, and bend as much as you can. You can also use a band or piece of cloth to wrap around the toe and pull while bending. This helps stretch out the calf muscles and quads, and helps in relieve a cramp. Also please do relax for two to three days without givibg much stress to your legs. Also please do the following. Cold compresses when leg pain occurs after strenuous physical activity, you can simply apply cold compresses. This will help reduce the pain by numbing the affected area and control swelling and inflammation. Cold compress for leg pain-600 wrap a few ice cubes (or a bag of frozen peas) in a thin towel. Apply this pack on the affected area for 10 to 15 minutes, while keeping the leg (s) elevated. Do this a few times a day.

Take sanjeevani ras vati twice a day with warm water. Take pranacharya jwar nigraha capsule and punarnavadi mandoor 1-1 twice a day with warm water. Avoid salt as more as possible. Drink luke warm water. Wipe your body with clean towel....

My back and legs are paining frm last 10 day amd x ray report says (Partial socialization of L5 is noted with mildly reduced disc space between L5-S1) kindly help me with treatment or it is normal.

If you have low back pain and sacralization you can undergo intermittent pelvic traction where in your half of your body weight will be added in the electronic traction so that that would help you to reduce the pain, along with Interferential therapy stimulations which would help you to get relieved from the radiating pain. Apply ice for the pain to get subsided immediately. If you cannot go immediately for the physiotherapy treatment. Ice can be kept in the low back where you have back pain. It is suggestible to wear Lumbo sacral belt which would help you to build the abdominal muscle tone which itself would make you feel better. You can also wear MCR chappals which would help you to have less weight falling in the painful back.

Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Caldikind plus 1tab od x10. Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. Do reply back for detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Morning stiffness is quite a common condition. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Do a massage on your back with oil named mahadhanwantarum taila. Make it warm and massage with someone's help. After that, give hit fomentation with a hot bottle or a cloth pack filled with salt and heated. Try to keep your posture erect always. Don't kick bike etc if possible for few days. Avoid jerks during journey. Increase calcium intake in form of warm milk, capsicum, paneer etc. When pain subsides, start practicing yoga asanas daily for back ache under guidance. That will prevent reoccurrence.

Core strengthening exercise- straight leg raised with toes turned outward, repeat 10 times, twice a day. Hams stretching- lie straight, take the leg up, pull the feet towards yourself, with a elastic tube or normal belt. Repeat 10 times, twice a day. Quadriceps exercises- lie straight, make a towel role and put it under the knee, press the keen against the role, hold it for 20 secs. Repeat 20 times twice a day. This will help relieve some pain.

Are you taking medicines for the treatment of Osteoporosis?

Osteoporosis literary means porous bones or bones which have developed holes in them. This is an exaggerated terminology because in this condition the bones become thin, weak and less dense. This weakness causes them to break (fracture) easily during minor falls and injuries.

This problem affects both men and women but is more frequent and severe in women. It is estimated that every second woman over 50 years of age will have a fracture of backbone or hip or wrist in her lifetime due to osteoporosis.

Prevention is the best way of avoiding osteoporosis and is achieved by diet and exercise. One should have a good nutritious diet which gives you enough calcium, vitamin D and phosphorus like yogurt, paneer, and green leafy vegetables. Second is to have an active lifestyle by having all kind of exercises. Walking, stationary bikes, small weights, and yoga are recommended.

Once the disease occurs and osteoporosis sets in, one is usually prescribed medicines as there is almost no role of surgery. Even medicines will not improve whatever bones have been lost but will slow down further deterioration.

If you have been taking commonly prescribed medicines (Bisphosphonates-/ alendronate: used weekly or biweekly) for having low bone density, then you need to be cautious. Long-term use of these medicines has now been linked with problems in the jaw bone and atypical fractures of certain bones.

These problems are more likely to occur if a woman takes the medication on and on for many years, as happens with many women found to have osteopenia or strong family history of fractures.

The best way to prevent these complications is to give your- self a break. It is recommended that for osteoporotic women, with every decade of drug use, you should take a break of 1-2 years.

While women with milder problems and having osteopenia, should take a year-long holiday from these medicines after every five years. But always check with your doctor before starting or stopping these medicines.

Hi looking to the age of your wife the knee pain could b because of arthritis nd as she doesnot get periods so she must be having osteoporosis also. So she need to take calcium along with vit d for osteoporosis. And for arthritis you can take some medicines for which you need to consult me privately. And if the arthritis is sever than you have to undergo knee replacement.
