Some males never have wet dreams, or have only one or two their whole lives. The old theory was that sperm built up in the male and if it did not come out in masturbation or other sexual activity it would have to come out in some other way: namely wet dreams. According to that theory someone who was masturbating or having other regular sexual outlets would not have a buildup of semen and wet dreams would not occur. But the new evidence is that it is not so clear-cut as all that. Evidently the body can and does reabsorb unused sperm and the occurrence of wet dreams is not so closely related to the absence of other sexual outlets as was once thought. Some males stop having wet dreams about the time they start masturbating. Others only have wet dreams during times in their lives when they are very sexually active. Still others have frequent wet dreams no matter what they do, while yet others never or almost never have them. Will you have more wet dreams if you stop masturbating or have fewer if you do masturbate? maybe. Maybe not. A think that really shoots down the old sperm-build-up theory is that it is now recognized that some women have sexual dreams leading to orgasm. This doesn't tell us a lot about the function of sexual dreams, but it does indicate that getting rid of excess sperm is not the rlght answer. There is no need to have sex or masturbate to ejaculation for health reasons. The body can happily cope with unused sperm, with no impact on fertility or sex drive.

I am 22 yrs old male I have hand shivering problem when I am in tension. Give me a solution.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Hi , I can understand your concern. Shaking of hands at the time of tension is apparently because of anxiety. At your age either anxiety or neurological illness appears to be two most important causes. Since you have noticed it at the time of tension, anxiety appears to be a real cause. Get a thyroid profile (tsh, t3, t4) done to rule out a thyroid disorder. I will ask you some questions to know whether you are suffering from anxiety or not. Do you remain always worried, can not relax, always feel on the edge? do you always feel that some wrong may happen? do you have disturbed sleep, excessive sweating, palpitations, dryness of throat and mouth, choking sensation, breathlessness, dizziness, chest discomfort etc? if you have few of the above mentioned symptoms then it points towards anxiety. You may require a psychiatric consultation for prescription of some anxiolytic medicines for cure.

I am 29 years and had paralatic attack on 26 oct 14 due to blockage in my heart valves. My right hand and leg is not working properly. My two heart valves were replaced in the surgery on 31 march 15. I can walk slowly and can move my hand slowly. How much time it will take to recover?

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Patna
Dear. I am Dr. Alok sinha. I understand your concern. Paralysis occur due to hampered blood supply to brain. In you case the heart could not pump enough blood to all parts of brain, resulting in death of some brain cells (strokestroke) and paralysis. Gradually over a period of time the brain recovers andand remaining healthy brain cells take over the function of controlling that body part. But this process take many months. It is good that you are recovering well. Take care of your heart by regular check ups and lipid lowering agents. Do exercise daily. Soon you will feel the difference. I wish you all the best.

Fever is not considered medically significant until body temperature is above 100.4 F (38 C). Fever serves as one of the body's natural defenses against bacteria and viruses which cannot live at a higher temperatures..Also, the body's defense mechanisms seem to work more efficiently at a higher temperature -Fevers of 104 F (40 C) or more may be dangerous and demand immediate treatment The following medications may be used at home for mild fever : -Acetaminophen (dolo-650 mg) twice or thrice can be used to lower a fever . Aspirin should not be used in children during a viral illness. -Wear comfortable loose fitting clothes and donot overdress. Overdressing can cause the temperature to rise further. -Tepid water (85 F [30 C]) baths may help bring down a fever -The body should be cooled with a wet sponge. -Fever can cause dehydration.Drink plenty of fluids.Have citrus fruits, particularly Vitamin C rich ones like mausami,Amla juice etc. -Take light and easily digestible home cooked meals .avoid outside food -Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water especially before meals, or after returning from a public places or using public transport. -Further therapy depends on the cause of fever like urinary infection/typhoid or malaria/dengue infection and the accompanying symptoms that need to be investigated and treated accordingly

There is no medicine for growth of penis. You have done the right thing by not using advertised medicines. They are bogus medicines with false claims. No sincere doctor will put up such adds. They are sold by unqualified quacks.

Vitamin D Deficiency - 6 Signs That You are Suffering from it

MBBS
General Physician, Jalgaon
Vitamin D Deficiency - 6 Signs That You are Suffering from it

Vitamin D is a crucial vitamin that is soluble in fat. Vitamin D is essential for the growth of your bone and it ensures increased flow of calcium into your bloodstream by promoting the process of its absorption from the consumed food. Poor concentration of vitamin D may result in the development of rickets in children and osteoporosis in adults. Vitamin D is important in maintaining the immunity of your system; deficiency of vitamin D gives rise to a number of health problems including cardiac disorders, arthritis, hypertension, diabetes and even cancer.

Daily exposure to mild sunlight helps to synthesize Vitamin D in body. Dietary sources include milk, cod liver oils, fish, meat, fortified dairy and food products.

The most reliable way to diagnose the deficiency of vitamin D is through blood test; it is the most effective method of measuring the level of vitamin D in your blood. The following are some dominant symptoms of vitamin D deficiency:

  1. Influenza: According to studies, vitamin D acts a guard against the attack of a number of respiratory infections which are widespread in children. Hence, lack of vitamin D in children is responsible for the development of various respiratory tract infections and diseases.
  2. Depression and Schizophrenia: The root cause of depression and various other psychiatric disorders have been linked to deficiency in vitamin D. It is extremely important for expecting mothers to maintain a sufficient level of vitamin D in their body, during the gestation period to reduce the risk of delayed brain development and other mental ailments in the new born babies.
  3. Cardiovascular disease: Cardiovascular ailments are more prevalent among people, who tend to suffer from vitamin D deficiency. Patients who suffer from cardiac discomfort have responded well to vitamin D treatment.
  4. Asthma: Intake of vitamin D supplements reduces the severity and discomforts that are associated with asthma and have also shown considerable reduction in the occurrence of asthma attacks.
  5. Periodontal disorders: Lack of vitamin D may result in the formation of numerous harmful bacteria in your mouth and may give rise to several oral discomforts in form of painful gum inflammation, bleeding and loss of tooth. Vitamin D aids in the formation of cathelicidins and defensins, which are effective in maintaining the overall oral health.
  6. Cancer: Types of cancer including prostate cancer, breast cancer and colon cancer are linked with vitamin D deficiency. Supplements of vitamin D are helpful in controlling the growth and development of breast cancer, especially the estrogen sensitive breast cancer.

Swollen and inflamed veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort and bleeding. Other factors that increase the risk for getting hemorrhoids include constipation, diarrhea, lifting heavy objects, poor posture, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, eating a diet low in fibre, anal intercourse, and being overweight. Liver damage and some food allergies can also add stress to the rectal veins. People who consistently eat a high-fiber diet are less likely to get hemorrhoids, while those people who prefer a diet high in processed foods are at higher risk. A low-fiber diet or inadequate fluid intake can cause constipation, which can contribute to hemorrhoids in two ways: it promotes straining on the toilet People do not consider homeopathy medicine for piles at its early stages and this is one of the reason why they end up under a surgeon's knife.
