Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)!

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)

  • It is caused by damage of lung from harmful chemicals that are breathed in because of air pollution or smoking
  • It has become the third biggest cause of death among adults from 5th in last few years due to sharp rise in air pollution and smoking habits.
  • Chemicals cause inflammatory reactions, which on one hand damage the structures in the lung responsible for the exchange of oxygenated carbon dioxide into the bloodstream, but also increase mucus production in the airways and make prone to infections.
  • Thus patients have either breathlessness, cough with sputum or both.
  • COPD patients are  at greater risk of developing exacerbations ('flare ups') which become more frequent and severe over time.
  • The detection and treatment is necessary as it may evolve and become severe enough to even restrict patients from doing day today activity.
  • General approaches such as exercise, nutrition, vaccinations against influenza and pneumococcal infections & medications are important in maintaining health

What is shortness of breath? From past one year am experiencing something strange in my lungs while breathing. Just like blowing for fraction of second. Even I can't notice also wat had happened and unable to know whether it is shortness of breath or something else. It doesn't give any problem to me but I just worried what it could be. Everything is normal other than dat but when ever I tried to Google about any health issues, which I face I feel panic and stressed. Please suggest me. Age 26 not married.

Shortness of breath — known medically as dyspnea — is often described as an intense tightening in the chest, air hunger or a feeling of suffocation. Very strenuous exercise, extreme temperatures, massive obesity and high altitude all can cause shortness of breath in a healthy person. Dyspnea is usually caused by disorders of the lungs or heart (see Table: Some Causes and Features of Shortness of Breath). Pulmonary embolism (sudden blockage of an artery of the lung, usually by a blood clot) is a less common, but serious cause. However, such people may also develop another disorder. YOu need a check up and decide.

No pacemaker can't be removed. Learn to live with it. With time there are lots of improvements in technologies and latest pacemaker is of size of a capsule that can be fitted through a blood vessel with the help of a catheter.

According to one study, it can also relieve coughs more effectively than over-the-counter medicines that contain dextromethorphan (DM), a cough suppressant. You can create your own remedy at home by mixing up to two teaspoons of honey with herbal tea or warm water and lemon.

Dear, *Chronic tonsillitis is a persistent infection of the tonsils. Repeated infections may cause the formation of small pockets (crypts) in the tonsils which harbor bacteria. Frequently, small, foul smelling stones are found within these crypts. These stones (tonsilloliths) may contain high quantities of sulfa. When crushed, they give off the characteristic rotten egg smell which causes bad breath. They may also give a patient the sense of something being caught in the back of the throat. *Common salt: Gargle with warm water with a pinch of common salt for immediate relief from pain. In case of intense pain, directly apply salt to the inflamed tonsils. * Lime is one of the most effective home remedy for tonsillitis. Fresh lime with warm water, honey and common salt should be sipped slowly, thrice a day to alleviate the condition. Consult us to hear your detailed history and to prescribe ayurvedic medicine. *Foods to avoid Curd, Buttermilk Spices and condiments Fried food
