The Best Ayurvedic Treatment for Diabetes ( Sugar )

" nishamlaki" - tablets are only the first choice of treatment for type 2 diabetes which commonly available as the classical ayurvedic medicine in any ayurvedic medical shop in india. So I advise any of my madhumeha (diabetic) patients in my 40 years of clinical experience as well as teaching ayurveda to my students.

The medication seems to be fine. But lifestyle management plays a big role. Especially diet, regular aerobic exercises and maintenance of optimal weight.

lybrate-user Komalji, Thanks for your query. I am sure you are aware what are the blood glucose levels one is expected to maintain to have a well controlled diabetes. FBG should be <100 mg, PP 160 to 170 or 180 mg (ideally 150 to 160 mg) & HbA1c%<7. There is no mention about HbA1c%. The drugs prescribed are unlikely to produce hypoglycemia. A person gets hypoglycemic symptoms once blood glucose level goes below 70 mg or even lower. If you have any doubts please come back. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, There is no harm in taking whey protein or protein supplements to gain muscle. But it depends on quality and quantity of strength trainning. Protein is very essential to keep the sugar levels under control. Do go for a personalized diet plan for best results. Warm Regards,

How to control the d diabetes from high label and what took the food for retained from this.
Mr Narendra Kumar, If diabetes is diagnosed then it is necessary to start treatment with appropriate anti diabetic drugs either oral or Insulin injections or both if needed. Selection of drug will depend upon severity of the condition. I am sure treatment must have been already initiated. In addition to that patient has to take a balanced and restricted diet that gives exact calories based on ideal body weight, sugar levels and extent of daily exercise. Plus consume a good deal of green leafy vegetables and salads. Exercise daily for at least 1 hour, brisk walking is good. Plus avoid sweets, deep fried foods, junk foods and pastries. If you want any specific suggestions or prescription then please come in a private conversation where I can give specific suggestions. In this communication we are supposed to give only geeneral guidelines.

I am 41 years old. Kindly tell me is obemac is safe to use. Or it has some side effects? I am a hyper thyroid patient. please suggest soon.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Thanks for the query. Obemac is a fat burner. But, most fat burners in my experience have majorly not worked. Most people take it as a “trial and error” product meaning that they only find out that most often it's not really effective after trying it. Keep in mind that obemac is not recommended for people with cardiac problems. Most people claim to have experience little or no difference at all after using a fat burner. Like any fat burner there are chances of side effects. Give your body a chance to lose weight by natural and healthy ways. That's more lasting.

Mr Vishnu, You are having T1 DM, if so then the only treatment is taking Insulin injections daily for life time, there is no option. You have to take care and maintain sugar levels with in normal limits like fasting closer to100mg and PP between 150 to 160 mg and HbA1c% <7. Apart fromInsulin injections you have to control diet and also exercise regullarly.

Causes and Symptoms of Hypothyroidis

MD - Homeopathy
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Causes and Symptoms of Hypothyroidis

The thyroid gland plays a major role in most of the metabolic processes that occur in the body. This is due to the hormones it produces. Disorders in thyroid can go from a little, innocuous goiter (enlarged gland) that needs no treatment, to fetal growth. The most widely recognized thyroid issues include irregular generation of thyroid hormones. Hyperthyroidism is a condition that occurs due to presence of excess thyroid hormones. Inversely, hypothyroidism is caused due to insufficient hormone production. It is common that people with this condition will exhibit symptoms associated with slow metabolism.

There are two genuinely regular reasons for hypothyroidism. The first is a result of past (or current) irritation of the thyroid organ, which leaves a vast amount of the cells of the thyroid harmed (or dead) and unequipped for providing an adequate amount of hormones. The most widely recognized reason for the failure of thyroid organs is called autoimmune thyroiditis (also known as Hashimoto's thyroiditis), a type of thyroid irritation brought about by the patient's own immune system.

The second significant cause is the general class of medical treatments. The treatment of numerous thyroid conditions requires surgical removal of a segment or the greater part of the thyroid gland. In the event that the aggregate mass of thyroid delivering cells left inside the body are insufficient to address the issues of the body, the patient will experience hypothyroidism. It is to be noted that this is regularly the objective of the surgery for thyroid cancer.

Symptoms of hypothyroidism include weakness, constipation, memory loss, irritability, fatigue, etc. It is totally treatable in numerous patients basically by taking a little pill once per day. However, it is usually more complicated. The medication comes in different varieties, which implies that a fitting dose can quite often be found for every patient and be re-assessed annually. A few patients will notice a slight decrease in indications in 1 to 2 weeks, yet the full metabolic reaction to thyroid hormone treatment is regularly deferred for a month or two preceding the patient feels totally typical. It is imperative that the right measure of thyroid hormone is used. After around a month's treatment, hormone levels are measured in the blood to set up whether the dosage of thyroid hormone, which the patient is taking is proper.

Hi looking at your fluctuating sugar levels, it is better to shift to glargine the basal analogue insulin along with oral drugs (which can be reduced). Glargine is a long acting insulin needing just one prick a day. It will produce excellent control of blood sugar. Initial dosage can be 6 units once/d, to be increased based on fasting sugar level every alternate day by 2 units till target sugar level (say 100 mg or so) is achieved. For this self monitoring of sugar level is necessary. If you are willing I can guide you. In the long run this will be a better treatment.

Is ayurvedic treatment better for diabetes or allopathy? Can diabetes be cured or it needs a regular tab once detected?

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
It is not as easy task to control blood sugar in the desired normal range. Whatever we eat is metabolised to sugar in the body to provide energy for our daily activities. For the absolute control, one has to monitor his / her blood sugar at regular intervals (self-monitoring of blood glucose? smbg). Though difficult, this can be done by a glucometer and keep a record. Get an idea of fasting sugar (fbs) and 2 hours after food (ppbs) and check before dinner and after every major food. The basic idea is to reduce the food intake to 1/3 of what you take now. The dictum of sugar control is diet, exercise, diet + medicine and at later stage medicine+ insulin will be needed. For sugar control there is the need for regular advice and follow up. Just one time consultation or advice is not enough to guide a diabetic in scientifically & medically correct manner. For giving you regular follow up you ask me privately with all details like your daily eating pattern and medicines you take.

How can I find out myself i, am diabetes patient at home without checking blood by systems of it?

How can I find out myself i, am diabetes patient at home without checking blood by systems of it?
Dear lybrate-user, Feeling tired and lack of energy can be seen in many cases like low Haemoglobin levels, low blood pressure, diabetes digestion issues, infections or fever etc. It may be due to simple lifestyle issues like untimely food, lack of proper sleep/ oversleep, lack of physical activity etc. You can correct all your daily habits like food (eat balanced food, better avoid processed ones), sleep minimum 6 hours a day, drink adequate amount of water and indulge in physical activities. I believe your problems may be solved. Following are some of the early symptoms of diabetes, but a presence of few symptoms doesn't mean that you have diabetes. It is always better to consult a doctor for confirmation, before getting unnecessarily tensed. 1. Increased Sweating may be accompanied by body odour 2. Tendency to Urinate frequently 3. Excessive thirst 4. Excess Hunger 5. Wound/ sores takes a long time to heal 6. Feels exhausted and fatigue 7. Dry mouth and itchy skin 8. Burning sensation of palms and feet 9. Blurred vision I would like to stress again that if you find any of theses symptoms, it has no meaning that you suffer from diabetes. It may be due to a variety of issues.
