My teeth is sensitive. I have tried sensodine but no relief yet which medicine or toothpaste give me relief?
Lybrate-user you have to understand, if a toothpaste is so effective in treating sensitivity, then our service is meaningless you have to visit to your dentist where he can check for reason of your sensitivity few of them can be as 1) periodontitis 2) cervical abrasion 3) developing caries 4) vertical fracture 5) atrission 6) failed restoration 7) fracture restoration 8) leaking restoration 9) periodontal pocket or a lot more none of the med can cover all of them I am tell you with due respect by taking med. And toothpaste you are just giving time to you disease to become worse and worse self medication is very dangerous and is not prescribed by any govt or health agency in the word.

I am suffering from bad breath. I used to brush very well but quickly after some time it gets foul smell. Please help.
Hello, Halitosis, also called bad breath, is a symptom in which a noticeably unpleasant odor is present on the exhaled breath. Of those who have genuine halitosis, often the odor is caused by bacteria present below the gumline and on the back of the tongue. Rest of them is accounted for by many different conditions, including disorders in the nasal cavity, sinuses, throat, lungs, esophagus, stomach or elsewhere. Very rarely, halitosis can be one of many symptoms of a serious underlying medical condition such as liver failure; but, in the vast majority of cases, the cause is minor and can often be reduced by adjustments to oral hygiene, including brushing or gently scraping the back of the tongue and improving the health of the gums by using dental floss. The intensity of bad breath may differ during the day, due to eating certain foods (such as garlic, onions, meat, fish, and cheese), smoking,[12] and alcohol consumption. Since the mouth is exposed to less oxygen and is inactive during the night, the odor is usually worse upon awakening ("morning breath"). Bad breath may be transient, often disappearing following eating, drinking, tooth brushing, flossing, or rinsing with specialized mouthwash. So, in your case, need to make a diagnosis for right medicine. Medication: Use homoeopathic SBL’s Homeodent toothpaste twice (morning & night) a day daily. Use Cinnamon Q (mother tincture) diluted with water for gargling or use Bakson’s Perio Aid mouthwash after every meal. And take orally - Merc. Sol. 30/ twice a day daily for 2 weeks. Then revert.

Swelling may come due to two reasons. One is along with tooth decay and abscess. Another is gum swelling. So first clinically it should be checked then we can go for correct treatment.

To avoid infection and reduce pain in a first-degree burn on the tongue: rinse the area well with cool water for a few minutes. Remove any dirt or particles that may be on the burn. Wet a clean cloth with cool water and hold it on top of the burn. Suck on ice chips or a popsicle to soothe the pain. Gargle with cool water or salt water. Avoid warm or hot liquids, which could irritate the burn. Take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for pain and inflammation. Sprinkle a few grains of sugar on the tongue to relieve pain.

Tingling means your nerves are regenerating. Its a good sign. Excessive salivation will induce healing faster.

While excess tea causes staining of teeth, a little actually benefits your teeth as tea contains fluoride which is well established as an agent that strengthens the tooth against acid attack by bacteria.

For effective teeth whitening and preventing them from discoloration, munch on foods like apples, carrots, pears or celery after brushing, as they produce tooth-bathing saliva which whitens the teeth.

Pimple like something appears on the root of my teeth and then a liquid starts flowing out of it please give me suggestion to get rid of it.

MDS
Dentist, Lucknow
Well in this case you might be suffering from tooth abscess or dental abscess. It is caused by any trauma in mouth causing dislodged or fractured tooth followed by bacterial infection over it thus accumulation of pus is there. You should immediately consult local dentist for root canal treatment in which damaged tissue is removed wth pus drainage.

I am 46yr old I have a bad teeth right side in mouth but my problem is I have sugar about 220 can I remove it.

BDS
Dentist, Raipur
Please don't get it extracted with such high sugar levels. Kindly get an x-ray done and if it can be saved then try to save it by getting root canal treatment done followed by a crown or cap instead of getting it extracted. If it can't be saved then you should consult your physician for your sugar levels. Once it is controlled then get it removed / extracted.

•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too.

Dear lybrate user, brushing twice daily with a soft toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste, flossing, rinsing your mouth after every meal, eating foods rich in calcium like dairy products, avoiding sugary and sticky foods and most importantly visiting your dentist for routine dental checkup every 6 months are the simplest, easiest ways of keeping teeth healthy and avoiding decay.

Hello, Hello, To prevent tooth decay: Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a fluoride-containing toothpaste. Preferably, brush after each meal and especially before going to bed. Clean between your teeth daily with dental floss or interdental cleaners, such as the Oral-B Interdental Brush, Reach Stim-U-Dent. Eat nutritious and balanced meals and limit snacks. Avoid carbohydrates such as candy, pretzels and chips, which can remain on the tooth surface. If sticky foods are eaten, brush your teeth soon afterwards. Check with your dentist about use of supplemental fluoride, which strengthens your teeth. Ask your dentist about dental sealants (a plastic protective coating) applied to the chewing surfaces of your back teeth (molars) to protect them from decay. Drink fluoridated water. At least a pint of fluoridated water each day is needed to protect children from tooth decay. Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral exam. Use SBL's (homoeopathic) Homoeodent tooth paste for good results.
