BEST EXERCISE TO EASE BACK PAIN : SPINAL ROLLING   

 Fold a bath towel double and place it on a carpeted area of floor to roll on. Do not attempt to roll in bed.

·        Lower yourself down carefully to lie on your back on the floor.

·        Gather up both thighs and link your fingers under them.

·        Lift up your head and neck so your low makes a wide rounded ‘u’ shape on the floor. ( To help keep your upper trunk forward you may need to bend both elbows out to the side as you hold your legs.) The stiffer you are the more difficult it will be get into this position.

·       Once in position, rock gently back and forth along the spine with small amplitude movements.· Attempt to pivot on the stiff link in your spine which will be obvious by its ‘bruised bone’ tenderness as you roll over it.

·        Use your legs for leverage. As you straighten them out they alter your weight distribution and make it easier to tip towards the lower end of the spine. If you keep your legs bunched up on your chest it will focus the rolling towards the upper end of the spine and require more jerking effort of your head to bring it down to the lower end.

·        Continue for 15-30 seconds, trying to relax as much as possible as you do it. Let the gentle rocking motion mesmerize you.

·        To rest, put one foot on the floor, and then the other, leaving both knees crooked. Do not put your legs down flat.

·        Resume at one minute intervals and repeat up to five times.

·        This is not an easy exercise to overdo. Cramp of the tummy muscles may be only thing that stops you. 

Sir, I have stopped eating bananas when I was of 2 years because at that time my mother made me eat banana in excess. I eruct and never ate again. But due to less weight dietitian recommend me to eat pair of banana with milk in the morning. But I hate the smell of bananas so instead I started taking banana shake in the evening. But after 30 minutes I had a severe back pain. I tried it for two days. But pain was too much to bear. So I stopped taking shake. I would like to know why my stomach is not digesting the shake. Can it be some problem?

Hi, no correlation to bananna and back pain. Some times gastritis, renal stones may radiates to back. R there any pain with bending or any leg pain. Pl contact general physican to rule out other causes. Take plenty of water and simple analgesic if pain is more. Tq.

Your grand mother is most probably suffering from oa of knee. Knee surgery-total knee replacement (tkr) is quite safe & gives uniformly good results. Do ask for detailed treatment plan. Surgery should be done when patient is still active & will be able to take benefit of surgery. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. Kindly show me x rays before a final decision can be taken. You will be thoroughly investigated before surgery is under taken. Risk in surgery is less than the risk in crossing road.

My wife is having multiple noodles in her veins of legs and belly area as well as near shoulders joints resulting the swelling and pain in the effected areas. Kindly tell the home treatment as the test reports are normal and no disease is diagnosed. What may the reason and is it curable or not please tell. Regards

These are not noodles, they are called varicose veins. Go to a vascular surgeon or a specialist surgeon.

This treatment is being suggested on bases of the information provided. I would like to examine & investigate you in detail. Any way it may be tried, --. Dolokind Plus (Mankind) [Aceclofenac 100 mg +Paracetamol 350 mg 1 tab. OD & SOS. X 5 days. --. Caldikind plus (Mankind) 1 tab OD x 10 days. (You may need help of your local doctor to get these medicines.)--. Fomentation with warm water. Avoid direct flow of AC or Cooler. --. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding. --. APPLY SOME POWDER ON THIGHS. --. Avoid painful acts & activities. --. Loose some weight as well. -- .Do mild exercises for Hips, Knee & Legs. Do not ignore, let it not become beginning of a major problem. Do ask for a detailed treatment plan. Do keep strengthening with dumb bells of 3 to 5 kgs gradually of 12 min duration of thrice a day and push up on floor to minimum 12 repitations in beginning

Apply hot fomentation twice daily. Avoid bending in front. Postural correction- sit tall, walk tall. Extension exercises x 15 times x twice daily - lying on tummy, take left arm up for 3 seconds, then bring it down, right arm up for 3 seconds, bring down. Bring right leg up, hold for 3 seconds, bring it down. Then right leg up and hold for 3 seconds and bring it down. Repeat twice a day- 10 times.

For pain take tablet paracetamol 650 mg and Get your blood checked for CBC uricacid and follow up with reports.
