According to the MRI done on my spine, it is noticed the L4 vertebrae has shifted outwards resulting in the immediate upper and lower vertebrae collapsing towards each other pressing on the transverse nerves which result in the calves and back of the thighs becoming caught and painful. With the result walking and standing is very difficult and painful. There is no pain in the lower or upper back. Sitting is comfortable and I can drive my car without any discomfort or pain.

I have a knee pain from last 1 month. It is very severe specially at night. Please suggest.
Simple Knee ExerciesSpecific knee exercises will also help ie. Keeping ball underneath the knee and keep pressing it. That's the simple exercise which will help you to strengthen the knee Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation. We also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. I also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. Knee pain more than 2 weeks:if your knee is paining since 2 weeks, then you have to rethink whether you had any injury in the previous years. I also advise you to use knee cap which would help to prevent the knee from damaging further and also to maintain the quadriceps muscle tone. As arthritis is very common if anyone would've neglected any injury in the previous years. You can take Ultrasonic therapy in one of the nearby physiotherapy clinics which would help to heal the damaged cartilages along with shortwave diathermy which would help to improve the blood circulation. Ice therapy would definitely help to reduce the inflammation.

I have got lot of pain in my back side pls tell me the exercise and description for the same.
Thanks.
Hello Dear lybrate-user, Nothing to worry about it here I will mention few exercises please follow. 1.Knee-to-chest stretch Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Using both hands, pull up one knee and press it to your chest. Tighten your abdominals and press your spine to the floor. Hold for 5 seconds. Return to the starting position and repeat with the opposite leg. Return to the starting position and then repeat with both legs at the same time. Repeat each stretch two to three times — preferably once in the morning and once at night. 2.Lower back rotational stretch Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Keeping your shoulders firmly on the floor, roll your bent knees to one side. Hold for five to 10 seconds. Return to the starting position. Repeat on the opposite side. Repeat each stretch two to three times — preferably once in the morning and once at night. 3.Bridge exercise Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor. Keeping your shoulders and head relaxed on the floor, tighten your abdominal and gluteal muscles. Then raise your hips to form a straight line from your knees to your shoulders. Try to hold the position long enough to complete three deep breaths. Return to the starting position. Repeat. Start with five repetitions each day and gradually work up to 30. 4.Cat stretch Position yourself on your hands and knees. Slowly arch your back, as if you're pulling your abdomen up toward the ceiling. Then slowly let your back and abdomen sag toward the floor. Return to the starting position. Repeat three to five times twice a day. Try above exercises you may get relief. If you observe pain while doing above please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly. Take care.

Trigger Thumb

MBBS, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Delhi
Trigger Thumb
(syn. Stenozing tenosynovitis of flelexor pollicis longus tendon)
Trigger thumb is a painful clinical condition in which the terminal phalanx if the thumb gets locked in a state of flexion. Sometimes it is bilateral i. E. Involving both hands. Big toes of the feet are usually not involved. The condition at some stage may become painless. It is more common in diabetics.
Trigger thumb is caused as a result of inflammation of the tunnel of the thumb in which the (flelexor pollicis longus) tendon moves. As a result the tunnel gets narrowed, usually at the metacarpo phalangeal joint and arrests the gliding movement of the tendon. Sometimes there is a nodule formation in the tendon at the same place producing obstruction to the tendon movement.
Treatment
Non steroid anti inflammatory drugs help in reducing pain and swelling. Physiotherapy helps in regaining movements of the joint. Sometimes in local infiltration with steroids gives relief. However long term effects of steroids are not desirable.
Surgical treatment if the medical treatment does not succeed, then surgical release of the tendon should be undertaken. It a one stitch surgery which can be done under local anesthesia with constantly good results.
Congenital trigger thumb some children are born with it. The congenital variety is usually bilateral. In these cases the treatment is surgical only. It should be done early otherwise the terminal phalanx of the child will not grow and remain small in size.

I am suffering from pain in my legs for two days during night pain increases. What I do?
Leg pain in young age is mostly due to cramps. To get relief observe the following. 1. Take adequate liquids like fruit juices , buttermilk, lemonade in this summer. Dehydration can cause cramps. 2. Stretch your calf muscles daily. 3. You can massage calf muscles and apply cold pack when they pain. 4. Avoid prolonged standing or sitting cross-legged. Change postures in between. 5. Take calcium supplements. 6. Take healthy nutritious diet. 7. If you are on medicines like diuretics, statins, review with your doctor as they can cause cramps too. If problem persists you need to consult again.
