Dear Lybrateuser, - At your age pain could be due to acidity - follow some dietary precautions: - avoid fried, spicy, sour & junk food, also restrict intake of tea, coffee to 1-2 cups a day, avoid alcohol & tobacco if you take - chew your food well, do not skip meals, have meals on time, have 4-5 small meals including snacks rather than three large meals, do not lye down for at least half an hour after meals, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - have 8-10 glasses of water for proper hydration - take syrup gelusil, 2 teaspoonful three times a day half an hour after meals - continue doing exercises as it is beneficial for your condition.

Every now n then focusing on heart does any problem. please tell me the foods for healthy heart.

Every now n then focusing on heart does any problem. please tell me the foods for healthy heart.
Yes being obsessed with having a heart disease is a problem. Eat healthy, exercise moderately and keep bp and blood sugar and lipid profile under control. Eat everything available according to seasons. Don't go out of the way to buy a particular fruit or vegetables. Less fats of good quality like mustard oil, saute and cook with steam using chat masala type of flavours and tomatoes purries to thicken the gravies instead of fried onions giving floating with oil curries and some homes prefer it this way only but habits of family needs a change so that nobody feels like a patient or a special person reminding about risk to heart. Eat vitamins and minerals through fresh fruits and vegetables of the season. Eg cucumber in summer and carrots in winters but use fresh lemon juice and honey for 365 days. Little salt and sugar despite bp and sugars under control. Eat few nuts everyday to get protein and good fats. Exercise in moderation like walking for few miles according to your capacity. Don't compare with others. Di practice yoga and meditation to reduce day to day stress.

Low Vitamin D Linked to Heart Risk
Low blood levels of vitamin D are associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular problems such as heart attack and stroke.
The 5-year research with participants in the Framingham Heart Study was published in the journal Circulation. The study, which included 1,739 people, average age 59 years, found that those with the lowest levels of vitamin D had a 62 percent greater risk of a cardiovascular event than those with the next highest levels.
An hour or so of sunlight on the skin each week allows the skin to produce blood levels of about 30 nanograms of vitamin D per liter of blood, more than enough to prevent a deficiency such as rickets.
Food sources of vitamin D include fortified milk and oily fishes such as salmon.
Recommendations from the Institute of Medicine in the United States call for a daily intake of vitamin D ranging from 200 International Units (IU) for young people, to 400 IU for the middle-aged, to 600 IU for older people. But getting that amount from food and sunlight may not be easy. A glass of fortified milk contains only about 100 IU of vitamin D. The suggested recommendation is 1,000 - 2,000 IU.
The cardiovascular risk associated with low vitamin D levels was especially greater for people who also had high blood pressure. Their incidence of cardiovascular events was double that of people with higher blood levels of vitamin D.

Cholesterol is a type of fat found in your blood. Different factors can affect your cholesterol levels, such as diet, weight, lack of physical activity, and gender. You can also inherit the genes from your family that cause your cholesterol to be high. High cholesterol, including LDL cholesterol, has no symptoms. Eating saturated fats—which are the main diet-linked cause of high cholesterol—tends to raise your HDL, but it also increases your LDL. These fats are mostly found in animal foods such as beef, lamb, poultry, pork, butter, cream, and milk, and in coconut and coconut oil, palm and palm kernel oil, and cocoa butter. Some diet and lifestyle changes help boost HDL cholesterol levels: Get active. Physical activity can boost your HDL level. Lose extra weight. Choose better fats. Alcohol in moderation. Stop smoking. According to the NCEP, if a person has no other risk factors, an LDL-C level can be evaluated as follows: Less than 100 mg/dL (2.59 mmol/L) — Optimal. 100-129 mg/dL (2.59-3.34 mmol/L) — Near optimal, above optimal. 130-159 mg/dL (3.37-4.12 mmol/L) — Borderline high. LDL and HDL: “Bad” and “Good” Cholesterol. Your health care team may run a blood test called a lipid profile that measures total cholesterol and its individual parts: HDL (good) cholesterol—high-density lipoprotein cholesterol. Molecules called lipoproteins carry cholesterol in the blood. Consult a homeopathic physician or use ALLIUM SATIVA MOTHER TINCTURE DAILY 2 TIME 10 DROPS WITH A CUP WATER.

My friends father had a heart attack when he was pretty young. Could he be worried about having another?

My friends father had a heart attack when he was pretty young. Could he be worried about having another?
There are genetic predispositions for many diseases and hence some people are at more risk as compared to others. If there is a family history of cardiac occurrences in your friend's family, then it can be presumed that there is a tendency for coronary artery disease to them. Preventive screening of heart, coronaries, risk parameters like sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, hypertension etc must be looked in to intermittently. Keeping a stress free be happy life style helps in preventing untoward mishaps. It is always better to be under the care of a qualified physician periodically.
