BHMS
Homeopath,
DEAR, sir/mam I am sugar patient, I want to recover quickly tell me the way, how am I improve quickly.
Dear lybrate user, one of the major nutritional substance required for human body is carbohydrate. We take carbohydrate in the form of rice, wheat, sugar etc. The complex molecules of carbohydrate are broken down into simple glucose molecules during digestion & released in the blood stream to be absorbed by the muscle cells. Muscle cells utilise the glucose molecules to release energy by breaking down those glucose molecules. Insulin hormone plays a vital role in the absorption of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells. In abnormal conditions, either due to less production of insulin or due to resistance to insulin, the process of absorption of glucose by the muscles comes to a stand still. The glucose molecules remains in the bloodstream which results in the increase in the blood sugar level. The failure of utilisation of the glucose molecules by the muscle cells results in production of less energy than normal condition. This is externally manifested as the fatigue & tiredness of the patient. This excess amount of blood sugar compels the kidney to function more than normal level in order to excrete the blood sugar molecules through urine. As a result the patient suffers from frequent urination. This abnormal condition is clinically known as diabetes mellitus. Once a patient is diagnosed with diabetes he has to take regular medicine to keep his blood sugar level within normal limits. Take homoeopathic mother tincture gymnema sylvestra q, 30 drops, thrice daily, after meals, in a cup of water. Also you need to walk at least 1 hour daily without any interval. Also you need to take a low carbohydrate rich diet. Avoid rice, sweet dishes, fruits, cold drinks, fast foods, alcoholic beverages, potato etc.

My mom is diabetic and she is suffering from nerve damage. She is nearly 80 is there any suggestions.
lybrate-user, Peripheral neuropathy is usually observed in almost every single patient with long term diabetes. In such situation most important is to maintain a strict blood glucose control with fasting blood glucose level closer to 100 mg, PP 160 to 180 mg & HbA1c%<7. Plus patient needs to be put on certain drugs which help in controlling pain and burning sensation. Plus patient should take care that there are no injuries to either toes or feet, as sensation is either altered or less. Therefore the injuries can become very serious problem. Should always wear a comfortable foot wear at home and outside. Thanks.

Uncontrolled diabetes is reason of multiple carbuncles. Control it well. Treating physician is the best judge to decide whether to operate or treat conservative with good antibiotics while keeping good control of sugar. You have not written sugar level. If it is high, better not avoid insulin if prescribed by physician.

Drink more water, high-carbohydrate foods such as potatoes, rice, pasta and bread. You can take Nutrient-rich foods that improve your health may also benefit your thyroid gland, antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables more plenty of water: Blueberries, tomatoes, bell peppers, and other foods rich in antioxidants can improve overall health and benefit the thyroid gland. Eating foods high in B vitamins, like whole grains, may also help. Selenium: Tiny amounts of selenium are needed for enzymes that make thyroid hormones to work properly. Eating selenium-rich foods, such as sunflower seeds or Brazil nuts, can be beneficial. Tyrosine: This amino acid is used by the thyroid gland to produce T3 and T4. Taking a supplement may help, avoid stress. get relax during work. go for x ray- c-spine and consult doctor. again.

The real cause of diabetes is overloading system with stress and overeating. So eat moderately, keep doing exercises and laugh often. One needs less calories as age advances. So we need to eat also less and less.

Lybrate-user, looking at your weight and height, there is grade 1 obesity with 32.05 kg /m2 bmi, (normal <23 kgs). This definitely needs reduction. If hypothyroidism is under very good control with tsh levels between 3 to 4 milli units/l, then efforts to reduce weight can be successful. First thing is to bring tsh levels in that range if they are not. Secondly zerofat a (orlistat) is not much beneficial. Along with dietary restriction orlistat can at most help loos about 6 kgs of weight over 1 year. Instead it is better if you stick to a diet plan that gives calories based on your ideal body weight (53 kgs x 20 cals = 1060 per day), plus doing a work out to burn a good deal of calories. Daily 1 hour of brisk walking can help in burning about 270 to 300 calories. If you can jog or run, more calories can be spent. Use more of green leafy vegetables, salad and fruits. Totally avoid junk foods, pastries, bakery items, deep fried foods, sweetened aerated drinks (colas), products containing fructose corn syrup, avoid highly processed packed products. No alcohol and smoking. Drink plenty of water and clear soups, thin butter milk. Avoid high fat milk products. Set a target of loosing half kg per week, and try and cut about 5 to 8% of current weight. If you have any doubts please do come back. Thanks.

Type 1 diabetes can be absent in the family. It usually gets diagnosed during an episode of illness like fever etc. Start diet therapy and exercise. Test serum c-peptide. If it comes out to be low, then she may be requiring lifelong insulin therapy. It may sound very shocking to you, but I assure you it is manageable and there is absolutely no complication of long term insulin therapy. But first test fasting and 2 hour post meal blood glucose, hba1c and c peptide. You can contact me with the reports.

I am 23 weeks pregnant and suffering from thyroid and my legs got swell. So, what can I do at my home. I can already take medicines also for thyroid. Can I take hot water treatment for my swelling legs. Is, it safe in pregnancy.

BHMS
Homeopath, Chennai
Swelling feet (oedema) happens because your body is holding on to more fluid than usual. The increased pressure in your leg veins, and pressure from your growing baby on the big veins in your groin, add to the problem. Swelling is common. About half of all pregnant women experience it around their ankles, particularly in the last few months of pregnancy. You may find your fingers, face and lower back become swollen too. The swelling in your legs usually gets worse towards the end of the day, especially if you're on your feet a lot. Gravity makes fluid collect at the lowest point in your body. Hot weather and being tired can also make swelling worse. Follow these tips to get relief 1. While sleeping keep your legs above hip level, you can keep some pillows below your legs 2. Eat a balanced diet with more vegetables, fruits, drink plenty of water 3. Sleep (7-8 hrs) 4. Go for regular exercise 5. Don't stand for long time go for constitutional homoeopathic treatment, since homoeopathic medicines act best during pregnancy, it will not only solve your basic issues but will make your baby also more healthy and immune.

lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. From the description it appears to be a paronychia infection, which affects part around the nail. It is a very painful condition. If it has become yellow, means there is pus collection. That has to be drained and cleaned then dressed. It will take a few days to heal. She may need a course of antibiotic for 5 to 7 days. There is no need to worry so much. I do not undestand what injection is given when the infection is just developing. There is absolutely no need. She should also control her blood glucose strictly, because high glucose can hinder healing. Thanks.

I am a 46 year old male. Very active - all days of the week. Average of 15, 000 steps a day. Crossfit athlete. Run very often. Eat decently. Blood sugar fasting: 88, Post Prandial: 182, Triglycerides: 205.70, LDL: 134, HDL 42.5, Total Cholesterol: 237.80, Blood Uric Acid: 5.3. Is this what is called the metabolic syndrome? Hi, metabolic syndrome is a combination of obesity, dyslipidemia, impaired fasting glucose and htn. You don't seem to fit into that category. Although you have not mentioned your bp your blood sugars are normal, lipids are little higher but you do not need medicatin at present. You need to maintain healthy lifestyle with regular exercise, good dietary habit (avoid sugary and fatty foods, take lots of fruits and veggies,), avoid smoking and relaxation.
