Cause of discoloration ? Smoking, coffee, tea, drugs, aging, staining food (wine, blueberry, etc) genetics. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Use Snowdent tooth paste for whitening until then. Apply SNOWDENT paste on the teeth. Wait for 10 to 15 min .Then brush your teeth with the same paste. Applying it overnight for better results. DENTAL TIPS: - Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Nature's Cavity Fighter

BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Nature's Cavity Fighter

Fluoride is a mineral that helps fight tooth decay. It is found in public water supplies, toothpaste and many other dental products.

Often called, “nature’s cavity fighter,” fluoride helps repair the early stages of tooth decay even before the decay can be seen. Research shows that fluoride helps prevent cavities in children and adults by making teeth more resistant to the acid attacks that cause cavities. When you brush your teeth with fluoride toothpaste, use other fluoride dental products, and drink water with fluoride you are preventing cavities and strengthening your teeth’s outer surface, called enamel.

If you have a good chance of getting cavities, your dentist can apply fluoride to your teeth during your dental visit. Your dentist might also tell you to use a special fluoride rinse, paste or gel at home

No pregnancy factor is not important , as if there is only one or two implants doctor can put healing screw directly so that theres no need of second stage surgery..

Hi tooth sensitivity can be due to enamel erosion because of bruxism, hard brushing and after the orthodontic treatment. Get investigated to rule out the exact cause of sensitivity. Use desensitising toothpaste like thermoseal ra toothpaste for one month. If you cant get relief consult the dentist for laminating or veneering.

Get bleaching or teeth whitening once and if needed scaling also. Staining can also because of excess of tea, coffee and chocolate. Brush teeth regularly two times daily with soft bristle toothbrush. Rinse mouth after eating anything.

Pain Even After Root Canal - What To Do

PGDHHM, BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Pain Even After Root Canal - What To Do

When a small cavity isn't treated in time, the tooth decays badly that normal filling cannot solve the problem. In such cases, your dentist will probably advise you to undergo, a root canal. When performing a root canal, the dentist will remove the nerves and pulp within the tooth, clean the inside of the tooth and seal it. After this procedure your tooth will not sense anything and should be pain free.

However, in some cases you may still experience pain after root canal and there are four main causes of this pain:

  1. Swelling of ligament around the tooth: One of the signs that you need a root canal is swelling of the gums. Even after the nerves and pulp within the tooth are removed, the ligaments around the infected tooth may still be swollen. This can take some time before the tissue is normal again. In most cases this is the cause for pain after a root canal procedure.
  2. Damaged tissue: Part of the root canal procedure is to clean the insides of the tooth. Here the dentist must be very careful to not go beyond the tooth. In some cases the file used to clean the tooth may go beyond the root and damage the tissue there. Another possibility is that the sealant used to fill the tooth may go beyond the root, thus aggravating the tissue. This can take some time to heal and may cause pain.
  3. Excess filling: After the tooth has been cleaned, the dentist fills the tooth with a sealant. If excessive sealant is filled in the tooth, it may become taller than the surrounding teeth, which puts extra pressure on the tooth and results in soreness and pain. The dentist will have to remove the excess sealant in order to resolve this issue.
  4. Phantom pain: Phantom pain is rare when it comes to root canal. This occurs when the nerve leading up to the tooth still behaves like it were connected to the tooth despite the nerve within the tooth being completely removed. The peripheral nerves will need to be treated to resolve this issue.

In most cases, these events cannot be prevented. There is also no reason to expect that this is a symptom of your root canal being a failure. Stay in touch with your dentist and brush and floss your teeth regularly. You will soon notice the pain subsiding.

bad breath is associated with either intraoral or extraoral causes.... Deep carious lesions (dental decay) – which cause localized food impaction and stagnation Recent dental extraction sockets – fill with blood clot, and provide an ideal habitat for bacterial proliferation Interdental food packing – (food getting pushed down between teeth) - this can be caused by missing teeth, tilted, spaced or crowded teeth, or poorly contoured approximal dental fillings. Food debris becomes trapped, undergoes slow bacterial putrefaction and release of malodorous volatiles. Food packing can also cause a localized periodontal reaction, characterized by dental pain that is relieved by cleaning the area of food packing with interdental brush or floss. Acrylic dentures (plastic false teeth) – inadequate denture hygiene practises such as failing to clean and remove the prosthesis each night, may cause a malodour from the plastic itself or from the mouth as microbiota responds to the altered environment. The plastic is actually porous, and the fitting surface is usually irregular, sculpted to fit the edentulous oral anatomy. These factors predispose to bacterial and yeast retention, which is accompanied by a typical smell. Oral infections Oral ulceration Fasting Stress/anxiety Menstrual cycle – at mid cycle and during menstruation, increased breath VSC were reported in women. Smoking – Smoking is linked with periodontal disease, which is the second most common cause of oral malodor. Smoking also has many other negative effects on the mouth, from increased rates of dental decay to premalignant lesions and even oral cancer. Alcohol Volatile foodstuffs – e.g. onion, garlic, durian, cabbage, cauliflower and radish. Volatile foodstuffs may leave malodorous residues in the mouth, which are the subject to bacterial putrefaction and VSC release. However, volatile foodstuffs may also cause halitoisis via the blood borne halitosis mechanism. Medication – often medications can cause xerostomia (dry mouth) which results in increased microbial growth in the mouth.

I am suffering from halitosis .i had sinus but now I am fine since suffering from halitosis.
Halitosis can be due to hard & soft deposits on the teeth, dental caries and food impaction or infection in any neighbouring areas of oral cavity. Eg. Rhinitis (cold), sinusitis, throat infection etc. Consult a dentist for scaling, filling of dental caries. Get treatment for any infections present. This will help you to get rid off halitosis.

MDS - Periodontics

If you are looking for a good mouthwash then make sure it is alcohol-free, as alcohol is an irritant and can dry out the mouth. This will have the effect of reducing the amount of saliva present, and make your teeth more susceptible to bacteria.Rinse twice a day – once in the morning and last thing at night and always after brushing.

Root Canal treated teeth should always be capped with a crown..as they turn brittle and may fracture

For healthier teeth, flossing daily in a sawing motion is highly recommended. Take the floss to the point where the teeth meet the gums.

You may have an infection around the tooth or it was not removed completely. An xray should give a better idea.

Cleaning visible surface of teeth is not enough to have a good oral hygiene... We need to clean interdental surfaces of teeth and tongue to have a good oral hygiene

My mouth is not opening only 2 fingers can get inside. Due to gutka pan masala. Kindly suggest some medicines.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Quit habits strictly. Seems like you have oral submucous fibrosis (osmf). Kindly consult an oral & maxillo facial surgeon in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need conservative or surgical management for mouth opening depending upon the stage of osmf. Advise full mouth opening, ballooning exercise & side to side movement of the jaw. Wrap 25 to 30 ice-cream sticks, make a bundle, put it between upper & lower front teeth for 15 minutes thrice a day increase 1 sticks each day.
