It depends on your sugar level, If your sugar level is under control you can take 1 serving of mango i.e 1/2 cup (100 g) of mango but you have to cut down your carbohydrate intake from another meal.

I am 35 M diabetic. My current dose is glimpeide 1 mg + metformin 1000 BD.
Still it is 170 fasting pls advice.
For a diabetic it is best advised to have a diet planned as per the sugar levels, lifestyle and history. Though you can follow some guidelines - have small frequent meals. Do not fast for long hours. Avoid a very heavy meal at one time. Avoid fruit juices, aerated drinks or sugarcane juice, honey, jaggery or sugar. Avoid junk foods. Exercise and stay active. Do not attempt to try out too many remedies as you could go into hypoglycaemia. Sleep well. It's all a matter of discipline.

Can you suggest homeopathic medicines to maintain T3, T4, TSH levels within normal limits?

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology

Can you suggest homeopathic medicines to maintain T3, T4, TSH levels within normal limits?
Mr Anil Sathe, To my knowledge, only medication that helps a person with hypothyroidism is taking thyroxinee tablets, which your wife is doing. By taking appropriate dosage TSH levels can be kept under check (near 3 to 4 milli unit/ml). Thyroxine tablet that is being given is actually T4 hormone, which deficient in hypothyroidism. So apart frm this there is no need for any other medication. Thyroxine (T4 ) is converted to T3 in the cells and tissues where it acts.

Gentle massage over knees with lukewarm herbal pain relieving oils daily for about 15-20 minutes and hot fomentation afterwards will greatly help in subsiding the pain. These procedures would give strength to your knee and reduce the pain and stiffness. Regular oiling the joint will improve the lubrication also. Use knee caps over the joints and avoid over exertion of the joint. This will greatly help. Although some herbal medicines might also help you but after proper history taking.

Mr. Lybrate-user, diabetes when remains undetected and and untreated for quite some time, does lead to weakness and weight loss as a lot of glucose is lost in the urine. But when detected and treated appropriately, patients recover rapidly. So most important is to see that blood glucose levels return to as close as possible to normal. Ieally fasting glucose should be around 100 mg, pp 150 to 160 mg & hba1c%<7. If patient maintains these levels, his energy level is good, weight also recovers and feeling of wellbeing also returns. Hence, my advise is to initiate appropriate treatment with anti - diabetes drugs, control his diet and let him do an hour's exercise a day. If you want specific help please come in a private conversation with all the details mentioned, plus present treatment with dosage, then I will be able to guide specifically. Thanks.

Hypothyroidism - Homeopathic Remedies for Treating It!

Hypothyroidism - Homeopathic Remedies for Treating It!

As we age, we may get a lot wiser and experienced; however, the down-side of gaining knowledge and experience is that we also have to face a lot of health issues and troubles. Problems related to hormones and glands become common as we grow older, and one amongst the most common problems is hypothyroidism. This is a problem that affects the thyroid gland, which is located around the throat region, and is commonly found in women. When the thyroid gland does not produce enough hormones or is underactive, you may be diagnosed with hypothyroidism.

The lack of activity in the thyroid gland may lead to a number of other issues such as lowering of metabolism and the disturbance of immunity in the body. The problem of slow thyroid may alsoarise because of the lack of iodine in the body, and in any case, it is important to bring the issue under control so that a healthy lifestyle may be achieved.

Homeopathy and hypothyroidism
One of the best ways to be able to deal with lifestyle and hormone diseases is to opt for homeopathic treatment. Homeopathy is the branch of medicine that usesnatural means and products to treat health issues; the biggest and most stubborn of diseases are known to be treated with the help of this stream of medication. The same holds true for hypothyroidism because it is found that the most effective way to treat this problem is through the use of homeopathic medicines.

Since there are a lot of medicines that can be used for treating hypothyroidism through homeopathy, the medicines that are prescribed by medical practitioners are segregated on the basis of the symptoms or the effects of the problem, such as the following:

  1. You may be prescribed homeopathy medicines for hypothyroidism if you are experiencing excessive weight gain, which is one of the main symptoms of this condition. In such cases, you may be given medicines that help in controlling not only weight gain issues but also issues of lowered hormone secretion.
  2. A lot of homeopathy experts also suggest medicines that are exclusively developed for women who experience menstrual issues due to hypothyroidism, which also happens to be a common occurrence.
  3. The tolerance for cold in a lot of people is also affected due to the presence of hypothyroidism, which may require a different type of treatment or medication in the field of homeopathy.
  4. Many also suffer from issues such as constipation and hair fall which are generally connected to the symptoms of hypothyroidism, and the homeopathic medicines prescribed by doctors may help in tackling such symptoms.

While it may be wise to choose homeopathy as your preferred stream of medicine when hypothyroidism is diagnosed, it is also important to make sure that the best and the most experienced doctors in the arena are chosen for getting the most effective treatment.

I would not recommend sweetners. They are artificial in nature and can play havoc with your hormones. Try to sweeten beverages with natural sweetners like cardamom mint other herbs. If taken in moderation and if your diet is balanced and planned well then as a snack (as a mid meal) any fruit is allowed.
