Premature Ejaculation - 5 Simple Ways To Overcome It!

According to recent study 20 to 30 percent of the males experience this disorder, wherein, they do not have any control over the ejaculation of the semen, such a situation is known as premature ejaculation. Premature ejaculation occurs because of increased sensitivity of the penis, might also be due to any psychological disturbance related to the act of sex. A man’s sexual act ends up or reaches climax with the ejaculation of the semen. Semen is a fluid that the reproductive gamete, spermatozoa. This spermatozoon passes the ejaculatory ducts and reaches the seminal vesicles. This seminal vesicles makes the 70 percent of the semen by producing a whitish fluid rich in proteolytic enzymes, phosphates, citric acid and lipids. Spermatozoa mixes with this fluid produced by the seminal vesicles and gets ready for ejaculation.

Ejaculation process
There are two phases in this ejaculation process emission phase and expulsion phase.

  1. Emission phase: The spermatozoa and the seminal fluids travels through the reproductive structures and reaches the posterior urethra in this phase. This is also known as preparatory phase.
  2. Expulsion phase: In this phase the contraction of the bladder neck causes the contraction of the urethra and rhythmic contraction of the external sphincters of the urethra which makes the semen to come out of the penis.

Most men ejaculate the semen two minutes after the penetration. If the ejaculation of semen occurs less than this time then it is called as premature ejaculation.

Few self help tips for male with premature ejaculation
Before trying or seeking help of a doctor you can practise few of these tips to overcome premature ejaculation.

  1. Masturbate one or two hours before attempting sex with your partner as this may increase the latency period during your actual sex with your partner.
  2. Use thick condoms to reduce the stimuli and increase the ejaculation period.
  3. Take deep breaths as this helps to withhold the ejaculation for a short period of time.
  4. Have sex with in some other positions like with your partner on the top and yourself below.
  5. Be conscious about the sensation or feel before ejaculation and come out of your partner and divert yourself with some sports or some of other favourite topics of you and your partner.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

I have not done work out from the past 4 years. I feel very tired all day long. I don't have time to work out in a gymnasium. Kindly advice me some diet chart and exercise routine that can I do at home.

M.Sc - Dietitics / Nutrition, Diploma in Personal Nutrition, Certification in Food and Nutrition
Dietitian/Nutritionist,
SInce you feel very tired, start with a warm glass of water every day first thing in the morning. 1 glass warm water in the morning first throughout the year. Second, when you are sitting idle, do some deep breathing (take a deep breath in and then a deep breath out) 15 times a day. You can do it while watching tv or talking to people. Your diet has to have a lot of fruits, like bananas and grapes if you don't have much time to consume daily you can reach out to me to make a customised chart for you. Apply these first for two weeks and then let's talk again.

Dear lybrate user, red eyes could be because of many reasons but commonly it is due to allergy or infection. You need to visit eye specialist to differentiate between the two as the treatment is different. Also get your eyes checked for any glass power

6 Ways to Feel Energized Through Food

Have you been noticing an increased level of fatigue for quite some days and that’s pushing you to doze off at the desk? Don’t grab that energy drink with an attractive name, sniff through an energy bar in place of gulping down that chemical cocktail. If you are willing to take your energy levels off the charts, it’s important to pay attention to your daily meals and check whether they are able to cater to your daily needs of energy. Know more to boost the enery level.

Here goes a list of top 6 things that can spike up your energy levels:

  1. Water: You may have heard of it quite a few times, but that makes sense. Human body has 60 percent water constituency implying that the muscles, skin and brain have a considerable amount of water. Several studies show that even a bit of dehydration can reduce your energy levels by slowing down the metabolism (Know more about Metabolic Disorder). Thus, keep hydrated as much as possible, and you can even add basil, mint, lime juice or something healthy to make it tastier.
  2. Seeds, nuts and oils: Just because almonds and peanut butter have high levels of fat content, it doesn’t necessarily signify that you should be avoiding them. All these are healthy fats, and your body would definitely love the healthy treat and keep you brimming with energy.
  3. Greek yogurt: This healthy food consists of high levels of protein and lower amounts of sodium and sugar than regular yoghurt. It will definitely keep you fuller than normal. You can even add a stream of honey or a splash of vanilla or small bits of dark chocolate. This is an easy option for your afternoon cravings, and your body would love it.
  4. Bananas: This fruit contains all the essential vitamins that give your body natural energy and you can eat them on-the-go and there is hardly any need for a dressing. If you are not a lover of this nutritious fruit, then you can dip it in chocolate sauce or add a slab of peanut butter or anything that would make it tastier.
  5. Lean protein: You must have learnt in your school biology lesson that protein gives energy? It is required for all functions of the body, including blood clotting, repairing of cuts and nicks as well as production of antibodies. Eat as much baked salmons, hard-boiled eggs, walnuts, apples, sweet potatoes as you can.
  6. Dark chocolate: If any of the above mentioned foods couldn’t put a smile on your face, then this is surely going to succeed in doing so. Keep good amount of dark chocolate with you and grab it anytime you feel fatigued or sleepy.

These yummy foods are yummy treats in the truest sense, and they would surely help in resetting your energy levels.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist,
I am 27 year female, and found that I had PCOD four months back. For two months I used feminol to regularise periods ...
You can become pregnanct only if you have had sex in the last month. So if you have had sex, and have missed your period, do a urine pregnancy test on a monring sample of urine in a lab and see if it is negative then the cause of your menses delay is pcod. Menstrual cycles occur due to a complex interaction between the hormones released from the brain with the effect they have on the ovaries and uterus. Menstrual cycle length can be changed by thoughts, and some emotional events like exams, stressful events, birth, death in family etc you have been suspected to have pcod and this is a very common finding nowadays. Pcod is not an unsurmountable disease, and it can be helped with medicines and some lifestyle modification. During pcod the body's chemical capacity to utilise glucose is altered, and hence there is a cascade of events like weight gain, irregular menses, acne and darkening of skin etc. Weight gain is crucial factor. You have been experiencing weight gain too. The best way to curb this disease is to control weight using a multi modal approach like - diet -exercise - medicines. So visit a good dietician and chart out a healthy diet, do regular cardiovascular exercises which help in burning the excess fat thats accumulated as excess weight in body. If your weight goes down by even 5 kg, you will experience a good regularisation of your menstrual cycle on it's own, without resorting to any medications. Of course we can give medicines to help patients with pcod, like the ones you have taken, but they are not the only factor that can regulate this disease. Life style modification is the cornerstone in management of pcod.

Dear lybrate-user, I would like you to read about fetishism, in psychology, a form of sexual deviance involving erotic attachment to an inanimate object or an ordinarily asexual part of the human body. Fetishism as a mental condition may be defined as the necessity to use a non-genital object in order to achieve sexual gratification. The affected person has created a strong association between an object and sexual pleasure or gratification. The object may be some other body part, an article of clothing, or, less frequently, some more impersonal object. A person with a fetish often spends significant amounts of time thinking about the object of the fetish. Further, the object is intimately related to sexual pleasure or gratification. In the extreme, the presence of the fetish object is required for sexual release and gratification. The person with fetishism frequently masturbates while holding, rubbing, or smelling the fetish object or may ask the sexual partner to wear the object during their sexual encounters. Usually the fetish is required or strongly preferred for sexual excitement, and in its absence there may be erectile dysfunction in males. The condition occurs almost exclusively among men, and most of the objects used relate to the female body or female clothing. The articles of clothing most commonly used are shoes and items of female underclothes. Olfactory sensations are also frequently important. For some people with a paraphilia such as fetishism, paraphilic fantasies or stimuli may be necessary for erotic arousal and are always included in sexual activity, or the presence of the fetish object may occur only episodically. For example, the fetish object may only be necessary for arousal during periods of stress, and at other times, the person is able to function sexually without the fetish or stimuli related to the fetish. If you have any further query, feel free to contact.
