I have cavities and paria problem in my teeth and also have bleeding problem. Please give me best treatment solution.?

Dentist, Vadodara
For pyorrhea, go for scaling and polishing of teeth. Maintain with proper oral hygiene habits. Use mouthwash after brushing twice daily. Gargle forcefully with water after you eat or drink anything. For cavity, get your teeth x-rayed. Depending on the extent of decay, get it filled with or without root canal treatment.

I have teeth decay, but I really brush everyday two times. What should I do? Please help me.

Post-Graduate Certificate in Endodontics
Dentist, Cuttack
Sir u need to understand that unhygiene is a major problem for tooth decay but not the only problem. Flossing is as important as brushing . Brushing cleans from outside. But food particles also get stuck inbetween ur teeth. To clean that flossing is required. food habits, malallignment, hereditary.. lot of other causes r also there. So don't worry and without delaying , get filling done in carious teeth.

Replace ur missing teeth to avoid further loss of tooth

I have yellow teeth I have used many whitening tooth paste but there's no result worth it please suggest some other remedies to withened my teeth.

Dentist, Bangalore
Here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid effecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist.

My age is 16. In my teeth I am having pyorrhea and I am feeling a slight movement in one of my front tooth. My gums are reddish and swelled. I am having calculus. I had a history of dental trauma 6 years ago. My teeth are not at all straight. I am in a fear of loosing my teeth. What has happened to my teeth? What should I do now? Will I really loose my teeth?

You are having mild symptoms of pyorrhoea. To clear the disease you should brush your teeth regularly twice a day. Change your toothbrush every 3 months. This can be due to vitamin c deficiency. So take lemon juice oranges guava even banana daily. After effects of injury can be solved by homoeopathic medicines like arnica 1m, phosphorus 200 and hekla lava 30.

3 Reasons Why Summer is the Best Time for Kids to Get Braces

Dentist, Delhi
3 Reasons Why Summer is the Best Time for Kids to Get Braces

Crooked teeth pull down a child's morale in a big way. It not just impacts their chewing and looks, but also makes oral hygiene practices difficult for the child and the parent. Orthodontic treatment, which may involve removing a couple of teeth and realigning the other teeth is very popular to correctly align these teeth.

The entire process of this treatment starting from initial visits to diagnosis to completing treatment to follow-up is a prolonged one. While the time with the dentist is quite significant, the time for the child to adjust to the braces and come to terms with the new 'thing' in their mouth is also quite taxing.

This requirement of time followed by need of adjustment time makes summer the ideal time to get braces for the children. Read on to understand a little more on the same:

  1. Time/Scheduling: The summer holidays gives children enough time to make the numerous visits without having to affect their school routine. The child and the parent have to make numerous visits to the dentist, the initial oral examination, getting radiographs done, moulds done, removal of teeth if required, checking for their healing, getting the braces in place, and follow-up visits for adjustments. In addition, on the child's side, they need sufficient time to heal from the teeth removal, get used to the presence of the metallic braces (in most cases) in their mouth, and get used to the new oral care methods. Another thing to consider also is the proximity of the dental clinic and the availability of the orthodontist. Most clinics schedule the orthodontist visit on one day of the week to cover all cases. Also, most children are in their early or late teens when they go for braces and are therefore in important stages of their academics. Therefore, summer becomes the best time to go for braces without affecting the schedule.
  2. Oral Care: Having braces requires extra care from the child to learn oral hygiene measures. The braces make it easy for food particles to remain on the teeth, increasing chances of decay and gum disease. The child needs to make a conscious effort to keep this clean as developing decay during the treatment complicates the whole scene. Therefore, summer gives the ample time required to get used to the oral care routine.
  3. Safety: Children with braces who are into sports should start using mouth-guards to protect them from injury during contact sports. Again, summer is a time to indulge in sports, and this will give the child adequate time to adjust to the use of mouth-guards.

All these make summer the ideal time to go for orthodontic treatment.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I am Sankar Srinivasan, age 48. I was affected by epilepsy in my childhood. Had phenytoin sodium tablet. Now reducing dose. My problem is, teeth enamel is damaging in 5 teeth's. Already extracted 3 teeth. I want to save my teeth's. Please kindly guide me Sankar Srinivasan.

MDS Prosthodontics, BDS
Dentist, Mumbai
Mr. Lybrate-user, when your teeth enamel is damaging you immediately need to take care of it. Teeth have three layers, enamel-dentin-pulp. So when the enamel is damaged the dentin is exposed leading to weaker and caries prone teeth. See your nearest dentist and either to a filling or a crown/cap work done.

Why You Have Sensitive Teeth:
Acidic Foods
The consumption of too many acidic foods erodes the enamel on your teeth

Teeth Grinding
grinding of the teeth also destroys the natural structure of your teeth. Over time, your teeth might become sensitive.

Gum Recession
The roots of your teeth are nicely protected by gum tissue, but when the gums recede the root becomes exposed thus causing sensitive teeth.

Recent Dental Work
Short term tooth sensitivity can also be caused by recent dental work. You should not worry, because this is only a temporary side effect and sensitivity will go away in a few weeks.
