I have developed a little ulcer near the leukoplakia area under the right side of my tongue. Will it automatically disappear and can be automatically cured if can leave smoking?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user Since the ulcer is near an area which you have written as "leukoplakia" I assume that you must have taken an opinion from a specialist. The ulcer should actually heal, but I assume that erythroplakia (redness along with white patchof leukoplakia) has been ruled out. Also, I would suggest that since the ulcer is in the area of leukoplakia, a biopsy should be done to rule out any malignant changes.

have ur dental check up regularly every six months

My teeth becomes yellowish suggest me something to get white teeth again naturally.

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Yellowness of teeth might be due to tartar and stains on the teeth surface, which does not go by itself. You need to go for a professional cleaning of teeth that will remove stains and tartar so that they can be white again. Teeth cleaning is a recommended process every six months.

Don't rush, when you brush: for maximum results, brush your teeth for atleast 2 to 3 minutes.

At what age tonsillectomy is required and what are the precautions to be taken after it?

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
A tonsillectomy is a surgical procedure to remove the tonsils. Tonsils are two small glands located in the back of your throat. Tonsils house white blood cells to help you fight infection, but sometimes the tonsils themselves become infected. Precautions: don't take aspirin or other medications containing aspirin for at least two weeks prior to surgery. Don't eat anything after midnight before the scheduled surgery. Your surgeon should provide you with instructions about eating food and drinking liquids prior to reporting to the hospital. Make arrangements for a ride home. Plan for 10 days to two weeks or more of recovery time. Adults may need more time than children do.

I want a root canal treatment of my tooth, how much would it cost, I want to know, the tooth is no 8, down right side. It has been almost destroyed by the germs and there is a big deep passage inside it, that whenever I eat something, it stuck there so every time I have to remove it by the needle or a pin. Please.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Basic Life Support (B.L.S), BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
Hi lybrate-user. Considering the status of your tooth, it is important that you visit a dentist for an examination and x ray. As it is the last tooth, the feasibility for a root canal will have to be assessed clinically. Also, I would advice you not to use needles or pins to clean your teeth as it can cause more harm than good. Also, it might break and retrieval may become problematic. So, visit your dentist as soon as possible to get a permanent solution to this problem. Take care.

Whenever I eat something hot or cold, there is an unbearable pain in my teeth. Please can you tell me the remedy?

BDS

It's dentinal sensitivity. Treatment based on severity. But cause is usually attrition or abrasion of enamel surface. So need replacement wid enamel substitute.

My question is to an eminent Dentist; I have recently approched a dentist for filling one of my teeth which broken a bit and as it is no pain or sensitivity. He suggested a refill and I sat for it. But while working on it almost 75% of the teeth came out and he compleated the procedure. Now let know whether this teeth last long or required a replanting?

Certified Implantologist, BDS
Dentist, Jaipur
It all happened bcz of poor judgement prior to treatment and now if you saying 75 percent tooth is gone then it should have been restored with 'post and core buildup' followed by crown...If your dentist has put fiber post and restored with good composite followed by crown then you are safe...otherwise it won't last very long...

Dear, I am a heart patient. I want to know that what are the causes of bleeding from teeth. Bleeding comes once in a week accidentally from my teeth.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Bleeding gums are caused by inadequate plaque removal. Plaque contains germs which attack the healthy tissue around the teeth. This will cause the gums to become inflamed and irritated, which may cause them to bleed when brushing or flossing. This is called gingivitis and is the first stage of gum disease.

Tooth ache permanent relief is only from treating the problem. Medicine will only give temporary relief. Filling rootcanal treatment or even tooth removal can give you permenant relief for that problem.

Hi Gum bleeding is the indication of gum disease known as gingivitis with plaque or tarter deposition. Scaling is the option to get rid of bleeding. You can use crest toothpaste to control plaque deposition. Rinse your mouth with chlorhexidine mouthwash. Take Celin tabs once daily for 15 days.
