Protect your gums from getting hurt in the process of brushing by keeping your toothbrush at a 45 degree angle.

I have a severe wisdom tooth pain. What should I do so that I can feel better. Any home remedies?

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon
You can use. Clove oil to relieve pain as home remedy. But it usually doesn't help for long. Kind advise would be to get yourself checked and take medications for the same. If it still persists. Then get an xray done check for angulation of tooth.

Hello lybrate-user, Bad smell from mouth means you may be having plaque and calculus deposition on your teeth. You need to have scaling done by a dental surgeon. After that you can use mouthwash, and your problem will be solved.

I am 18 years old male and have teeth sensitive problems for last 2 months. I have uses colgate for couple of days but haven't got any relief. What should I do now?

BDS
Dentist, Thane
Hello lybrate-user, sensitivity is sharp, shooting type of sensation in teeth on contact of extremely cold or hot food which usually lasts for a few seconds and disappears completely after that and re-occurs again on such stimulus. Treatment plan for sensitive teeth goes as follows: 1. You can use any commercially available desensitizing toothpastes such as colgate sensitive or sensodyne as first line of treatment. If it reduces your sensitivity substantially you can continue brushing with toothpaste in long run to avoid further sensitivity. 2. If you don't get any relief from desensitizing toothpastes it indicates a more severe problem which will need further treatment like layering/coating the damaged tooth surface or filling of the tooth if there is big cavity or root canal treatment in extreme cases getting proper treatment leads to permanent relief in sensitivity problem.

I feel pain in my teeth sometime. and i'm brushing my teeth regularly. So please tell me what is the problem?

MScD, BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Generally speaking, pain is a protective response that ranges from minor sensitivity to severe pain and informs the body that something is wrong. As for tooth pain, it is caused by a reaction of the nerves inside a tooth's pulp chamber with the severity dependent upon the type and degree of the stimulus or because of irritation of the gums surrounding the tooth, thus its vital that proper diagnosis of the cause of the pain be made before any sort of treatment can be sought. Usually a painkiller can ease the pain temporarily.

Hi sir. I've got some yellow shades on my tooth. My parents also had that thing. Can you suggest me some natural or herbal cures.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with whitening (bleaching) procedures and / or artificial enamel filling. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Home bleach for the teeth here is home remedy for brighter teeth--- mix several teaspoons of baking soda with enough fresh lemon juice (or water) to make a paste. Wipe your teeth and any extra saliva off of them with a paper towel. Put a good amount of paste onto your toothbrush and apply. Leave the paste on for 1 minute, then rinse, so as to avoid the acid affecting enamel. If you are using just water you can leave it on for up to 3 minutes. For faster result you can go for teeth bleaching from dentist. You may consult me in person. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush.

I am suffering from mandibular tori in my lower jaw and I think it becomes large in size in one side . What should I do?Please tell.

BDS, Basic Life Support (B.L.S)
Dentist, Pune
Normally tori do not need treatment unless they are interfering with function of the bite or the tongue movements. Usually you can leave it alone. Unless the size is changing over time. This may indicate some kind of underlying tumour that would need to be checked.

I am 23 years old and I am suffering from chronic bad breath over the last ten years, even after thorough brushing and rinsing mouth well, the bad breath persists. I will be working in the coming next year and fear with my problem as I cannot interact properly. Please help.

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Bad breath can be reduced or prevented if you: practice good oral hygiene. Brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste to remove food debris and plaque. Don't forget to brush the tongue, too. Replace your toothbrush every 2 to 3 months or after an illness. Use floss or an interdental cleaner to remove food particles and plaque between teeth once a day. See your dentist regularly -- at least twice a year. He or she will conduct an oral exam and professional teeth cleaning and will be able to detect and treat periodontal disease, dry mouth, or other problems that may be the cause of bad mouth odor. Drink lots of water. This will keep your mouth moist. Chewing gum (preferably sugarless) stimulates the production of saliva, which helps wash away food particles and bacteria.

Hello. You can add a pinch of baking soda in water and rinse with it. This will help to heal your ulcers. You need to visit a physician and get your Vitamin B levels checked. Take supplements for it if required.

I have chronic bad breath issues. I have been to dental clinic and all seems fine. Need help now what to do or where to approach.

BDS
Dentist, Jodhpur
Bad breath, technically known as halitosis, may occur due to several reasons. Most common cause is bad oral hygiene. If you r maintaining good oral hygiene than other reasons could be related to your stomach and intestines. Bad breath may also result due to acidity in stomach or may be due to constipation. Dry mouth can also be the reason. So consult your dentist and physician for the needful. Drink plenty of water and have more of juicy fruits.
