I have mild breathing problem, I was a good smoker till two years back for more than a decade. Nos am 64 yrs. Generally I feel some sort of whistling sound from inside, may be some time while sleeping also some time. When I take inhaler forocart 200, in 5 to 19 min, breathing will be alright. Last week I could not take in immediately when I felt short breathing while in market, but I could not reach home by walk, in between I felt uneasiness with cough, motion also came out, in the road itself I felt unconscious. People feathered informed my wife and took me to borrow hospital. In the way to hospital I have been given mouth to mouth respiration by pressing chest continuously. After reaching hospital I regained conscious and given nebulisation and became alright in one hour. I like to know, whyit happened to me? is there some thing serious in such condition? what are the precautions I should take while travelling by air or rail or by walk? please revert and thanks.

MD PULMONARY, DTCD
Pulmonologist, Faridabad
You are more likly to have copd, considering your smoking history. Kindly get a spirometry done and post bronchodialator spirometry also to decide reversibility of airway obstruction, its severity, its diagnosis, asthma/copd. If copd change to tiomate 2puff once day with spacer. Also check your spo2 concentration and its fall on exersion. Get an holter done to r/o any arrythmia. Better consult a local pulmonologist for better planning your treatment.

Hi throat pain can also be due to reflux. Reflux can sometimes cause ear pain also. Treating reflux is the only solution if there is no infective pathology seen inthe throat.

I just recently got hit very hard with a sudden cold, and every time I blow my nose there's always blood on my tissue? Is my nose bleeding whilst having a cold normal? And I don't mean profusely. But pretty much every time I blow my nose it's bleeding. Do's & Do not's.

Hi lybrate-user nasal bleeding due to forceful nose blowing is common. *avoid nose blowing. Use a nasal drop with decongestant. Use an antibiotic ointment inside your nose. Start a antibiotic. Stop touching your nose. Take rest have plenty of water. If a large amount of blood comes urgent consultation may be required. Hope this helps

Start taking iron rich diet which helps yo in producing mucus, this in turn leads to protection from dust as it will entrap dust in it so prevents allergy.

Your feelings of laziness and hunger could possibly be linked to depression, or more rarely another mental health issue such as attention deficit disorder. It may be worth seeking professional help. Always remember 3 D’s: Discipline, Determination & Dedication. And yoga of course! Please engage yourself in some productive work, productive here doesn't mean earning money, but on the other hand you can do social service, help others, learn new activity, learn new sport, etc, set realistic helpful achievable small goals in life, have a drive, purpose, and reason to live, know your instinct and lead your life for a better purpose and be an inspiration to others, rather than setting a bad example of yourself to all. Good life!

Hello doctors. My question is, if a person's one nostril is close from long time and if one nostril is open then from what kind of problems he might be suffering.

MBBS
General Physician, Mumbai
Causes are many. But common causes are 1) deviated nasal septum. 2) paranasal sinusitis. 3) nasal polyp. Or any malignant growth etc. An ent surgeon will be the right doctor to detect and treat according to the condition detected.

Crocin or ibuprofen plus suspension less than 5 ml at a time may reduce symptoms of pain and fever to some extent and temporarily. Problem looks like some infection connected with throat with lymphnode child may require appropriate antibiotics on advise of a doctor on direct examination and proper diagnosis.

Ayurveda,
Yes. Sandler, sinusitis can be treated with ayurveda and naturopathy. There is no need of operation. If you r interested to start ayurvedic medicines you may consult any ayurvedic doctor. But you have to keep in mind that it will take time to get good results. Avoid cold, sour, fried, spicy food items. Daily do yoga for half an hour in the morning.

Hi  If you are  having a sinus  problems for  long we have to rule out Allergic  Rhinitis and sinusitis.  Get a CT PNS done. Or if you have one  done share the CT . Long term lifestyle  changes with gradually tapering medication  helps to tackle chronic sinus problems.  Start taking Steam inhalation twice a day. *For chronic sinusitis you will need to take a long term course of antibiotics  together  with Nasal sprays . *You will need to avoid dusty environment  and dust mites, animal dander etc. Medical  management  is done for 3 months and then patients  condition is reviewed.  Intermittent treatment is not beneficial  in the long run. If polyps are present and medical management  doesn't cure Endoscopic surgery may be needed Hope this helps.
