I'm suffering from mouth ulcer. Every month I suffered with this ulcer. I'm facing problems to eat food. Please give me solution.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
If the mouth ulcer is causing a lot of pain, gently rub a small ice cube over the spot or rinse your mouth with ice-cold water. You could also chew on a clove bud (lavang) and direct the juice generated to the area where the ulcer is located. Clove buds are a great ingredient to cure sore throat too. To prevent the ulcerated area from getting infected, make it a point to rinse your mouth with a little salt water. Remember, this won’t make the ulcer disappear, but it can help reduce the pain. Honey is a natural humectant. It helps reduce scarring and hastens the process of new tissue growth. This, along with its anti-microbial effect ensures faster healing of the mouth ulcer. Chew a few leaves of tulsi along with some water about three to four times every day. This will help in getting rid of ulcers faster and also have a preventive action against their recurrence. Applying a little coconut oil directly onto the mouth ulcer or chewing some coconut (fresh or dry) helps reduce pain and inflammation and hence, ulcers heal faster. Mix some sugar to crushed khus-khus seeds and consume this mixture for instant relief from ulcers. You could apply a little ghee directly to the ulcerated area, or drink a glass of buttermilk two or three times every day. Mouth ulcers left untreated generally go away in a week or so; with these home remedies, you can expect faster relief. However, if you notice an ulcer in the mouth that is persistently present although it does not cause you any pain, do not neglect it or try to treat it with home remedies beyond a few days. Make it a point to see a doctor soon because often, a painless mouth ulcer is one of the earliest signs of oral cancer.

Sodas And Your Teeth

BDS (Gold Medalist)
Dentist, Gurgaon
Sodas And Your Teeth

It’s no secret there exists a strong link between soda consumption and tooth decay. Heavy soda consumption has also been linked to other health complications including diabetes, obesity and osteoporosis.

During the past generation, milk intakes have decreased while soda pop and 100 percent juice intakes have increased.  It has become a daily habit for a growing number of people, especially kids, teens and young adults. A steady consumption of soft drinks is one of the leading causes of tooth decay.

However, measures can be taken to prevent and reduce tooth decay. The conclusions of a recent study support contemporary daily dietary guidelines for children that include:

  • Consuming two or more servings of dairy foods
  • Limiting the intake of 100 percent juice to four to six ounces
  • Restricting other sugared beverages to occasional use

This doesn’t mean a person should never drink soda. In fact, drinking it in moderation may represent no harm at all.  However, substituting sugary, acidic carbonated beverages for water or intake of caloric food could be problematic in the long run.

How soda attacks your teeth

The “Sip All Day, Get Decay” slogan isn’t just meant to be a catchy tagline – it’s literally the truth!

Sugar in soda combines with bacteria in your mouth to form acid, which attacks the teeth. Diet or “sugar-free” soda contains its own acid, which also can damage teeth. Each attack lasts about 20 minutes and starts over with every sip of soda you take.

These ongoing acid attacks weaken tooth enamel. Kids and teens are most susceptible to tooth decay because their tooth enamel is not fully developed.

You can avoid tooth decay and other health problems that arise from drinking too many soft drinks, other carbonated beverages, sports drinks, iced and sweet teas and other sweetened liquids (like fruit juices). Limiting your intake, brushing and flossing twice a day and visiting your dentist regularly will reduce your risk of tooth decay improve and/or maintain your oral health.

Stay hydrated the right way

Staying properly hydrated is critical to overall health – and some beverages are better suited for this than others. Most soft drinks contain sugar and caffeine which can actually SPEED UP dehydration.

While drinking sports drinks may keep your body hydrated, the ones with sugar also can unfortunately cause cavities. In addition, non-cola sodas, lemonade and sports drinks can cause significant damage to your teeth enamel, which can lead to tooth decay.

Did you know lack of water is the number one trigger for daytime fatigue? So next time you feel tired at work or school, don’t reach for a caffeinated beverage, drink water. It’s good for your body and won’t damage your teeth like soda and other caffeinated beverages.

DO:

  • Drink soda in moderation (no more than one 12 oz can a day)
  • Use a straw to keep the sugar away from your teeth
  • Swish your mouth out with water after drinking to dilute the acid and sugar if brushing your teeth is not possible.
  • Drink plenty of water (8 glasses a day)

DON’T:

  • Sip for extended periods of time
  • Drink soda shortly before bedtime
  • Brush after meals – wait at least an hour after your last drink or meal before brushing
  • Substitute soft drinks, sports drinks or fruit juice for a meal.

Other tips for maintaining a healthy smile:

  • Chew sugarless gum
  • Visit your dentist regularly
  • Brush and floss daily
  • Drink fluoridated water and use a fluoride toothpaste
  • Read the labels for sugar content

Good morning , it is very important to have a dental check up done and the dental surgeon would after examinations may order some investigations including Xrays - OPG - which would reveal the status of your teeth and their supporting bone. On the basis of same would he be able to help you. It is good that you have suddenly become aware of your handicap - we in the profession will do our best to meet your concerns and rehabilitate you. This has come to pass because of the sheer neglect of your teeth by you. That is why it is recommended to have a 6 month check up from 1 year of age. If we can watch news or read newspapers every day, why we cannot get our general health and dental check up every 6 months!

I have eye problem since 4 days.
I have also ear problem and teeth problem also
So guide me which tablet I have used.
We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) & clinical examination to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Advantages and Risks of Dental Implants

BDS
Dentist, Gurgaon

I’m Dr Prashant Chaudhury. I’m managing Sparkle Dental Clinic. It’s a family dentistry. We provide all the facilities at one place in the Sparkle Dental Clinic. So today we will be talking about dental implants.

Dental implants are used for the replacement of your missing tooth. Basically, a dental implant is a type of titanium screw that is used to place in the jaw bone which helps to integrate with the bone and over it, a crown is placed. So it is the best replacement for your missing tooth without disturbing your surrounding teeth surfaces and your surrounding teeth support is not needed for the implant placement like conventional methods of the breach and the removal dentures. The main concern over the dental implants is the time duration of the treatment. Usually, this is over 3-8 months time duration required for placement of a permanent capping in the implant. For this time duration period, there have been various researches.

Dr eye Dental in Germany has come up with the basal implants so that we can place immediate implants at the time of retraction as well as we can put the permanent tooth capping over the implants within 3 days. Seeing the major advantage of basal implants, it is less time consuming as well as the patients don’t have to go for the extensive surgeries. We can place basal implants in a very low bone conditions. Extensive surgery like bone rafting, sinus lift to increase the bone first and then place the conventional implants doesn’t require, so patients doesn’t has to go for multiple surgeries to place the implant only one surgery placement of implant. Third day the patient will get his own permanent teeth reducing the cost of the treatment reducing the time of the treatment and the implants carry a lifetime warranty for the basal implantology.

So, if you have more concerns of basal implant logy or conventional implants you can join me at lybrate, you can text me, call me or book an appointment for at Sparkle Dental Clinic at lybrate

Hi, please do not ignore if there is pain in tooth often. Get your dental checkup done from your dentist. Sometimes its just sensitivity because the decay of tooth is in initial stages that can be restored with normal tooth filling.
