It depends on the amount of deviation and presence or absence of any over/ underaction of muscles. Generally I would prefer operating on one eye, but again many factors to consider before commenting on anything.

Hi doctors,
I have severe eye irritation every day during mightier. Suggest some ideas to reduce eye irritation.
Hi lybrate-user, here are some natural solutions for you which will help you get rid of the problem. 1. Eyebright herb is one of the best natural home remedies for Eye Infections. You can take eyebright tea, tincture or liquid extract, or use a light mixture (a teaspoon of dried eyebright steeped in a pint of boiling water) as an eye wash about 3-4 times in a day. It can also be used as a compress over eyes. 2. Using aloe vera juice as eyewash is a highly beneficial natural cure for Eye Infections. You can also soak a piece of cloth in the juice and place it over your eyes to reduce Eye Infection. It is particularly helpful in healing Stye. Warm tea bags or compresses can also be used to cure Sty naturally. 3. Add 2-3 granules of alum in a glass of distilled water and use this mixture as eyewash for about one week to get rid of Eye Infections like Stye. 4. Placing warm compresses infused with lavender rose or chamomile oil is another useful Eye Infections home remedy. 5. Add three tablespoons of honey in about two cups of boiling water and use this solution to wash your eyes in order to reduce Eye Infections. Or, you can simply put one or two drops of honey in eye for 2-3 times in a day. 6. Placing cold bread over the eyes is one of the simplest natural home remedies for Eye Infections to reduce itching and inflammation. Cold tea bags can be placed over eyes to relieve burning sensation. Cold red raspberry tea bags are quite soothing in this regard. 7. Boric acid eye wash is another useful Eye Infection natural cure for Conjunctivitis because it has antibacterial and antifungal properties. To prepare this eyewash, add one teaspoon of boric acid and ten drops of goldenseal tincture in a cup of boiling water. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hi lybrate-user, The following are some effective natural remedies for treating headaches: Rosemary: Rosemary is very effective for treating headache caused by cold. Take a handful of this herb and boil in a litre of water and store in a mug. Cover your head with a towel and inhale the steam for as long as possible. Repeat this process till the patient is relieved of the headache. Beetle leaves: Betel leaf has analgesic and cooling properties. It should be applied over the affected part to relieve of intense headache. Clove: A paste made of clove and salt crystals in milk is very useful natural cure for headache. Salt has hygroscopic agents which absorbs fluid and decreases tension. Ginger: Ginger is an excellent pain killer. Make ginger ointment by rubbing dry ginger with a little water on a grinding stone. Apply this over the forehead for relief from headache. Henna: Henna flower cures headaches caused by heat of the sun. Make a plaster of henna flowers, add vinegar and apply this over the forehead. Lemon: Squeeze juice from three or four slices lemons into a cup of tea and drink this to get relief from headache. Lemon crusts are useful in headache caused by heat. Pound the lemon crusts in a mortar and make a fine paste. Apply paste on forehead for relief from headache. Applying yellow freshly pared off rind of a lemon on each side of the temple will also provide immediate relief. Apple cider vinegar and honey: Boil a cup of water and add apple cider vinegar and some honey and when steam comes of this, inhale this steam. It is very helpful in relieving a person of headache. Cinnamon: Headache caused due to exposure to cold air, can be treated by cinnamon. Make a fine paste of cinnamon by mixing a little water and apply this paste over the temples and forehead to get relief. Apple: Remove the upper rind and the inner hard portion of a ripe apple and eat the apple with a little salt every morning on empty stomach to get relief from headaches. Continue this for about one week. Marjoram: Marjoram is very helpful in treating nervous headaches. An infusion made of the leaves of marjoram should be taken as a tea for treatment of this condition. Peppermint: Drinking a few cups of peppermint tea is also very useful in treating headaches. Peppermint oil is very effective in relieving headaches due to tension. Dilute 3 to 4 drops of peppermint oil into one tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil and apply a small amount to the temples when the headache comes on. Add three drops of peppermint oil in warm bathing water and soak the patient in the water for about 15 minutes for relief from headache. Water: One or two large glasses of water also can relieve the person of headache because some headaches may be caused due to dehydration also. So a glass of cold water is the easiest and also effective natural cure for headaches. Lavender oil: Mix the oil with water and dip a clean piece of cloth into this mixture. Place the cloth on the region of pain to treat headaches. Eucalyptus: Take a few drops of eucalyptus and add it to boiling water. Remove from fire when steam starts to come. Cover the head with a towel and inhale this for as long as possible. This is a very good natural cure for headaches due to sinus. Banana: Eat a banana whenever there is a headache. Grape juice: Drink grape juice regularly to treat headaches. Almonds: Add a few almonds to a glass of milk and drink this to treat headaches Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hi lybrate-user, Fatigue can also be the result of a faulty immune system. There are some people that are not able to take rest or go for a proper sleep until they finish the task they had undertaken. Such people are more prone to suffer from chronic fatigue and are always tensed and under some pressure. There are various home remedies that can store back your lost energy and rejuvenate you. Home Remedy for Fatigue 1. Take 3 drops of rosemary essential oil, 7 drops of lavender essential oil, 2 drops of peppermint oil, 1 cup of baking soda and 1 cup of sea salt. Place all the ingredients in an air tight container and shake well. Take some hot water in a bath tub and add all the ingredients just before going for bath. 2. Take a bath in this water for around 15 minutes and after that take a shower with cold water. Lavender provides soothing effect, rosemary provides energizing effects and peppermint provides upliftment. 3. An individual suffering from fatigue should have a proper nutritious diet. Include lots of cereals in your diet like wheat seeds, maize seeds, rye seeds, corn seeds, oat seeds etc. The cereals used should be finely milled. 4. Add a pinch of cardamom powder to your tea. This gives an instantaneous effect of revitalization. Sprinkle fresh ground cinnamon on your breakfast cereal, porridge, toast or whatever. Cinnamon can triple the ability of insulin in metabolizing glucose. 5. Drink plenty of fresh fruit juices to get rid of fatigue and especially grapefruit juice is very good for this purpose. A mixture of grape juice and lemon juice works well to combat fatigue. 6. Mint tea is another helpful home remedy to cure fatigue. Peppermint improves alertness and the ability to focus. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Hello Floaters Floaters appear due to condensation of collagen fibrils present in the vitreous cavity of eye These are benign and don't need treatment Only way to get rid of them is to avoid them Having said that it is provisional diagnosis I would recommend you to consult local ophthalmologist and get proper eye examination done.

Corneal Ulcer - What To Know About It?

MBBS, MS - Ophthalmology, DNB - Ophthalmology , Fellowship in Cornea and Anterior Segment, Fellowship in Phacoemulsification
Ophthalmologist, Vadodara
Corneal Ulcer - What To Know About It?

Antrior most transparent layer of the eye is called cornea. It is an extremely useful layer for refraction and protection of eye.

Any trauma, foreign body or chemical etc can invade the integrity of this layer and can be invaded by bacteria, fungus or virus, resulting in the corneal ulcer. Sometimes, due to hypoxia induced by contact lenses too can result in a corneal ulcer.

Depending on clinical presentation, a doctor diagnoses the cause of the ulcer and start the therapy. Since the transparency of cornea is very important, a doctor starts very intensive therapy. With repeated frequent checkups if a proper and intensive therapy is not given, the ulcer can progress and can cause collection of pus in the anterior chamber which if not attended properly, can cause the infection to travel into the interior of the eyeball (vitreous chamber) resulting in total blindness. The ulcer can become deeper and lead to perforation of the cornea, causing severe damage to the eye and may require removal of pus (evisceration) or total removal of the eye ball.

  • Generally, fungal ulcers are more dangerous and occur mostly in rainy season.
  • It is imperative that a case of corneal ulcer is diagnosed promptly and very intensive treatment proper treatment is given to save the disfigurement of the eye and total irreparable blindness.
  • At times we have not only to give topical drops but oral therapy has to be given. Injections in the eye have to be given. Culture sensitivity has to be done in severe cases to identify the causative organism.
  • In extremely severe cases, we have to perform, therapeutic keratoplasty.

Conclusion: Corneal Ulcer is a serious challenging problem with the potentiality to cause total and irreparable blindness and must be attended promptly by a very expert ophthalmologist to save the eye.

In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

Go for some tests like hemoglobin and serum bilirubin and also platelet count. Low platelet count may indicate dengue fever. And high serum bilirubin may confirm jaundice. Malaria may be also there. Take plenty of fluids. Paracetamol is less advised as jaundice is also there. Some liver preparation like liv 52 may be started.

Blurry Vision? Could Be a Sign of High Blood Pressure!

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Ophthalmology
Ophthalmologist, Bangalore
Blurry Vision? Could Be a Sign of High Blood Pressure!

High blood pressure can lead to hypertension, which is known to cause a variety of debilitating side effects or symptoms in the life of the patient. It can also lead to a number of related ailments which can affect the various organs of the body. The eyes are one of the organs that are most susceptible to this kind of spike in the body’s blood pressure. Let us learn more about the connection between the two.

Retina: When high blood pressure goes untreated for a prolonged period, it can easily start to affect the blood vessels that can be found in the retina. The retina is the third or the inner most layer of the eye which is sensitive towards light and usually helps in refraction. This is where the light reaches so that one can focus clearly on an image. When the blood pressure of the patient stays high for a prolonged basis, there is significant pressure on the blood vessels in this part of the eye which can lead to an eye disease known as hypertensive retinopathy. Sudden increase of Hypertension or Uncontrolled Hypertension can cause Papilloedema (Swelling of the Optic Nerve) which if untreated can cause blindness.

Symptoms: Symptoms of this eye disease include lack of clarity and focus when the eye comes to rest on an object, as well as headaches and other vision problems that typically spring from eye strain that one will go through while trying to focus even harder. It may be seen that the symptoms do not appear in the very early stages of this disease.

Diagnosis: The diagnosis of the condition is usually done by an ophthalmologist who will use an ophthalmoscope in order to project light towards the specific part of the eye so that the back of the eyeballs can be examined. The signs that the doctor will look for during the examination include narrowing of the blood vessels in this part of the eye, inflammation of the macula which is the central portion of the retina, and bleeding in the back of the eye. Also, the doctor will check for spots in the retina with the help of cotton swabs and exudates.

Treatment: The best and only way of treating this condition is by keeping one’s blood pressure in control with the help of medication prescribed by the doctor.

Prevention: There are many ways of preventing the onset of this disease, including losing weight so that there is less pressure on the body. Also, one must stick to a healthy diet and exercise regularly after taking recommendations on the appropriate exercises from the doctor. Additionally, it is also important to see a doctor on a regular basis so that there is constant monitoring and regulation of the medicines and the blood pressure.

Hello sir, Please advice can glaucoma be cured by using medicine's or it requires an operation.
Glaucoma can be controlled by medicines. As long as visual function and eye pressure remains stable with medicines, and if you are regular in taking medicines and follow ups, surgery is not needed.

Here is a good protocol that I follow to improve eyesight for children successfully: - stop watching TV, too close to it, especially if the screen is large - no cell phone (the light from the screen and RF radiation oxidizes them and is very damaging to the eyes). Laptop and tablets only if needed. - Calc Phos 30, every other day, four pellets in the morning to improve calcium assimilation. Children need more calcium and this is frequently the underlying cause. You can make it every 4th day after 3 or 4 doses. Give Fish Oil, if it completely agrees. If there is any discomfort after the tablet, do not continue. If they agree, continue for a few months. Please report after 2 months. For adults, the original protocol or even simply, Ruta 6 and Calc Phos 3xalternately helps. Advise to take Physostigma 30 daily one dose early in the morning and Ruta 10M weekly one dose i.e. Every sunday and stop other medicine on this day.
