Dental Decay & Bleeding Gums - An Insight!

Tooth decay is one of the most common diseases affecting the oral cavity. Dental cavities is a highly prevalent condition, especially among children. In most cases, improper hygiene leads to deposition of food on the tooth. This in turn is acted upon by harmful bacteria, thus releasing acid that dissolves the tooth structure. In most cases, the decay starts on the outside of the tooth and gradually reaches the inner layers.

Gum diseases and bad breath

One would think that if you are decay free, you have a healthy mouth. However, overall oral health requires healthy gums as well. They cover the teeth and provide anchoring support to the jawbones. Minor infection (gingivitis) can progress to a severe condition (periodontitis), which causes teeth to shake and even fall out! It is one of the main causes of bad breath or halitosis too. Swelling of the gums gradually, leads to spontaneous bleeding, which is the first sign of trouble. This can be managed by simply improving oral hygiene. It is advisable to see the dentist.

Treat cavities and bleeding gums

Listed below are some common methods to manage bleeding gums and bad breath:

1. Brushing: Advisable at least twice a day using a soft bristled toothbrush.

2. Flossing: Flossing removes plaque from between the teeth and reduces chances of decay and gum problems

3. Eating Healthy: Bad food habits are one of the main reasons of bad breath. A bad digestive system manifests as bad breath and so eating healthy is very important for healthy gums. Adequate water, fiber, calcium and Vitamin C are essential for gum health, so ensure they find a place in your diet.

4. Annual Dental Visits: Visit your dentist once in 6 months. Simple procedures that do not require time or money like regular scaling will help improve the teeth and gum health while reduce bad breath issues.

The reason for bad breath in your case seems to be because of digestion issues. Consuming good amount of water daily will is your digestive problems and drain the toxins from your body. Along with your food you will have to take good amount of roughage in form of salads and fruits. And most effective, brushing the back of your tongue with the brush is going to be most effective in decreasing the bad breath. See a dentist as soon as possible to rule out other causes for bad breath. Tooth decay and gum diseases also lead to bad breath. This must be checked by the dentist and given proper treatment you will feel much better.

Hi keep on suffering from constant Dental issues of tooth decay. I take proper care of my teeth, I brush twice, gargle after I eat and even make use of Mouth Wash, still every few months I have to go through some or the other issue. Is this due to my other health issues such as Ulcerative Colitis and hepatitis B. Is there some way to stop this?

There is no relation of your dental health with ulcerative colitis or Hepatitis B. Seems like your dental problems are not explained and taken care properly. You might be having multiple carious teeth which are not taken care at the right time which leads to multiple visits. You should ask your present dentist to do a complete examination of your teeth and oral cavity and explain to you all the treatment that you need. Completing the treatment of all the teeth which require attention. Your job will be to be regular with the follow ups and take care of oral hygiene properly at your home. Once all the potential areas of problems are taken care off and explained to you then you will notice that you are not having any new dental issues. This way there will be no more new dental problems and you can be lead a happy and healthy life.

Only missing teeth are considered as negative. Restored teeth are not considered negative in anyway. So you can easily go for a Restoration otherwise you might lose those teeth in future.

According to the symptoms described by you, it seems like you have developed infection in your gums which can only be treated bye dental surgeon. You have to visit a dentist and get the evaluation done. Accordingly the treatment will be decided depending upon the extent of damage. Oral disinfection is the only treatment of choice in your case. Will be decided by the doctor. Do not delay the treatment as it would make the treatment more Complex and difficult to treat.

The swelling has come because the cavity which was present has gone Deep and the infection is now present in the bone surrounding the infected tooth. You must see a dentist as soon as possible so that proper measures can be done to control the infection with the help of medicines and root canal treatment Ore extraction of the problematic tooth or teeth. Whether the tooth can be saved or not will be decided by the dentist depending on the structural damage to the damaged tooth. Do not self medicate and fix an appointment as soon as possible so that the treatment can be started.

Please help, I just discovered hard lump beside on right side also near to temple/hairline. It feels like bone ,like my skull has swollen a bit. It don't feels painful but when I touched it, it felt a bit stingy and after touch I feel discomfort. Could it be because of clenching my teeth very hard for 3 or 4 days due to wisdom tooth pain/jaw tension. I had wisdom tooth removed today on left side but this thing is on right side. I am really scared.

Broken tooth does not need to be removed for placement of implant. If you want to get the proper alignment of teeth and good aesthetics smile all you need is a orthodontic treatment or braces and it will take care of your misaligned teeth. The fractured fragment of the tooth can be rebuilt by high quality composite material and will last for good amount of years. All you need to do is to visit a dentist and get your check up done and the cost of treatment will depend on the type of braces chosen and some other factors also.
