Next day I have taken the HBA1C test on 6PM value is 5.5. Why it cause ups and down? My age is 33. Pl help me.

rSugars fluctuate depending on the diet, activity, medicine and the stress hormones released in the body. The way your body metabolises your sugar depends on the internal environment .so,it's actually not feasible to check sugars frequently. So,hba1c gives fairly average sugars over a period of 3 months. So,5.5 is good control, u need not worry but follow a balanced diet to me antain the same

We came to know last week that my father got sugar levels above 500 and now in present it is not coming down from 300 please let me know how to get level down.

MBBS, DNB (General Medicine), Certified in Evidence Based Diabetes Management, MNAMS
Internal Medicine Specialist, Kolkata
Thank you for the question you have not mentioned the age of your father. Sugar levels more than 500 mg% need to be managed immediately preferably with insulin, and if patient is unwilling for that with oral antidiabetic agents. High sugar levels can lead to a number of complications like urinary tract infections, cardiac problems etc. Since he was detected with sugar levels >500 mg%, it will not be expected that his sugar levels will come down to normal in one week. It is a slow process and it takes time. Also some people have resistant diabetes which is difficult to treat, hence it takes substantial time even with full medications. His diet needs to be controlled immmediately. You need to do some basic blood tets like fbs, 2 hrs ppbs, hbaic, urea, creatinine and urine routine test.

Earlier I got the blood tests done but there was no problem in my reports. I am giving eltroxin 50 mg for thyroid since few years and dosent have a very great digestive system.

Diploma in Diabetology, MBBS

The cause of your boils is ineffective digestion. Take triphala powder 1- 1.5 tsp daily at bedtime for a month. All your boils will reduce. You can continue it if you find it beneficial.

What is role of Salmon OMEGA 3 in general health of a woman suffering from diabetes.

M B B S, M. D (Internal Medicine)
General Physician, Nellore
It provides some help in controlling cholesterol levels and keep the blood vessels healthy. It has miniscule benefit compared to prescription medicines. You can eat the actual salmon if you wish which is best but it is not available in most places in India that is the problem. The dose that gives any form of benefit is 2.4 gm/day which means several tablets in a day. If your doctor is giving any less than that, then it is a waste of money.

Ayurvedic Herbs To Cure Infertility!

Ayurvedic Herbs To Cure Infertility!

Infertility is a medical condition which is characterised by problems in successful conception, even after prolonged and frequent unprotected sex amongst a couple. Infertility may occur due to problems with either the male, the female partner and in many cases both of them. This condition can cause much strife in a relationship not just within the individuals but also be a cause for social embarrassment. The causes of infertility could be-

  1. Testicular injury or deformed testis,

  2. Irregular menstrual periods,

  3. Problems with erections,

  4. Uterus is ill-shaped,

  5. Premature ejaculation,

  6. Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome,

  7. Pelvic inflammatory diseases caused by Sexually transmitted infections such as gonorrhea and Chlamydia,

  8. Scanty sperm count,

  9. Thyroid disorders,

  10. Blockage of the fallopian tube.

Other lifestyle related reasons could be excessive alcohol consumption, aging, diabetes, obesity, high pressure and as a side effect of radiation therapy or other medications.

Ayurveda and Infertility-

According to Ayurvedic scriptures, infertility occurs when there is a deficiency of nutrients in the Shukra Dhatu of an individual. This might occur as a result of indigestion and excessive toxic content in the human body. This could be caused due to excessive consumption of spicy foods or if they have chronic stress or anxiety. The Ayurvedic remedies boost the nutrition of the Shukra Dhatu in order to boost fertility. The most potent Ayurvedic herbs which can cure infertility are as follows:

  1. A prescribed consumption of the powder of dried banyan bark along with sugar might help to cure infertility.

  2. The inclusion of cumin and turmeric powder in regulated dosages in your daily food might also help to facilitate fertility.

  3. A consumption of the root of the herb Ashwagandha for 3 times a day has also been shown to be beneficial.

  4. A daily consumption of the powder of Vanari Kalpa in warm milk might help in curing any problems related to the ejaculation of semen.

  5. Consuming a mixture of the powder of Vrushya vati in warm milk, it might help to increase the sperm count.

  6. The consumption of Ayurvedic preparation of phalasarpi (a mixture of the herbs Kustha, manjistha, Triphala, tagara, haldi etc.) might help to deal with the problems of infertility in women.

  7. Yoga also has many effective asanas or poses which help boost both male and female fertility and thus may help in correcting infertility caused due to physical factors such as injuries or deformities.

  8. Changes in lifestyle also have to be brought in such as quitting smoking, reducing alcohol consumption among others.

Good evening sir/madam, I am 24 years old and my weight is -62. 3 kgs, from the past couple of days I am suffering from poly urea and little hunger and vertigo .to day I checked my blood glucose levels. Blood sugar-fasting_81 mg/dl and post (pp)-185 mg/dl. And my father is diabetic. So please help me out ,i am getting tension thanking you.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, fasting blood glucose of 81 mg is normal. Pp 185 mg is high, it falls in the pre-diabetes category. You need to take care. Diabetes is confirmed when blood glucose fasting is equal to or above 126 mg & pp 200 mg and above. If you adapt a modified lifestyle, like exercise regularly, maintain normal weight (bmi <23 kg/m2), avoid eating too much of sweets, no deep fried foods, no pastries and bakery items, no junk foods, no aerated sweetened drinks, highly processed foods and high milk products. Consume more of green leafy vegetables, salads and permitted fruits like papaya, water melon, pomegranate, orange, sweet lime, water melon, apple, guava and pear. Exercise regularly for at least 1 hour a day. Avoid alcohol and smoking completely. By adapting above suggestions diabetes can be prevented or onset can be delayed. Thanks.

Reason of diabetes in early age like 30 years pla tell me I am suffering this problem.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Udupi
Dear Lybrate User, There are two types of Diabetes Type 1 and type 2.causes including the followiing:- Type 1 diabetes is caused by the immune system destroying the cells in the pancreas that make insulin. *This is called an autoimmune reaction, or autoimmune cause, because the body is attacking itself. *There is no specific diabetes causes, but the following triggers may be involved: *Viral or bacterial infection *Chemical toxins within food *Breathing difficulties (e.g., sleep apnea, asthma) *Unidentified component causing autoimmune reaction *Underlying genetic disposition may also be a type 1 diabetes cause. **Type 2 diabetes causes are usually multifactorial - more than one diabetes cause is involved. Often, the most overwhelming factor is a family history of type 2 diabetes. This is the most likely type 2 diabetes cause. *There are a variety of risk factors for type 2 diabetes, any or all of which increase the chances of developing the condition. These include: *Obesity *Living a sedentary lifestyle *Increasing age *Bad diet

I am 49 years old male, I am having sugar for the last 2 years, I am only on precaution, not taking any advice and my sugar level is 110 & 155. please advice.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
The levels mentioned are not high, but they are showing you have impaired glucose tolerance (igt) which is a prediabetic condition. When sugar levels cross above 126 mg fasting and 200mg after food, then it is labeled as diabetes. So you can continue whatever precautions that are being taken and remain free from diabetes.

As thyroid been removed thyroxine will continue life long. Radi iodine will continue for some time and then stop depending upon what your oncologist has prescribed. Radio iodine is to kill any residual thyroid cellsin body to decrease chances of reappearance of cancer and so os must.

Hello With all its moisturizing action, aloe vera is one of the most effective skin soothing agents. When you rub the gel over an itchy spot, it helps reduce the skin irritation in that area and provides quick relief from itching. Just break a leaf from the plant, cut it lengthwise using a knife and using a spoon, scoop out the jelly-like substance inside. Apply a little of this gel to the itchy area and leave it on for a few minutes.
