By using a wire brush, gently clean between brackets (under the wires) to get the plaque off. It is very necessary to keep the mouth free from plaque during the orthodontic treatment.

Dear Lybrate user, your jaw lock problem may be due to TMJ problem or OSMF due to excess use of tobacco & alcohol. If you are taking tobacco or alcohol in any form you should quite them immediately. Maintain your oral hygiene. Avoid spicy foods. Consult to your dentist for clinical diagnosis and needful treatment. Without clinical diagnosis any medicines can not be prescribed.

Maybe due to attrition of teeth or tooth decay. Try using sensodyne toothpaste for instant relief. Tooth decay will need a filling.

Gingivitis can be treated but requires maintenance to prevent worsening of the situation. Such cases will be assessed by clinical and radiographic examination. Depending on the bone level, further management is done. Please be aware that gingivitis does not settle in one sitting. You need to see the dentist every six months and undergo procedures as and when required.

Hi lybrate-user, I appreciate you seeking help. First and foremost, get your oral cavity clinically examined by a dentist, and then proceed for further specialist checkups (pulmonology & gastroenterology etc all) as advised by your physician. Again, it is in your best interest that you discontinue this habit of chewing 'Gutkha' at the earliest. Allergy apart, its constituents can be likely carcinogenic, regular use of which may increase risk of oral sub-mucosa fibrosis (OSMF), oral cancers as well as cancers of the liver, stomach, prostate and lung. Instead, I would advise you to streamline your diet, have a healthy & balanced diet preferably Mediterranean and maintain a good oral hygiene. Hope this helps. Do take care, and all the very best. Sincerely
